Sickening Fred Taylor Highlight: Ray Lewis praises Taylor as one of th (1 Viewer)

Was looking at highlights of runningbacks from the early 2000's and came across this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrpvXAzlo74

Taylor was an absolutely phenomenal talent at runningback. At 230, I see him outrunning defensive backs who were 30-40 pounds lighter than him on a consistent basis and the DB's have good angles on him too, they just didn't expect a 230lb man to run with such blinding speed. And the moves, oh my god, I've never seen anybody at his size cutback with such explosiveness juking defenders out of their shoes and leaving them on the ground grabbing for air.

I'm not sick after watching that. Feel quite fine, actually. If you or anyone is feeling sick after watching that video it might be because of all the reading you have to do before an actual video takes place. Also, if you are feeling ill, may you consult a Walgreens pharmacist for some assistance.

And, if you want views on your YouTube video, might I suggest you make a good one.

Phenomenal talent. Closest comp to AP that I know of.

Got a bad rap for the injury bug. That happens when you tear your groin muscles off your pelvis and your coach questions your toughness for not playing through it.

Great back but that was a terrible video production. The font required 3D glasses and the music was horrible.

The only reason I remember him is when I think he tore his groin, he actually threw the ball down, grabbed his crotch and then fell to the ground. I probably would have done the same thing, but it's what I remember him for, the hitless fumble.

Great player, class act. Easily one of my all time favorites. I'm excited to see if his boy Kelvin takes his game to the next level this year. I've heard he could be better than Fred, although I doubt it.

Also, JohnHLynch47, the only thing sickening about it was your approach for youtube hits.(and the opening font) Why not just say "hey guys, I'm new here and just made my first youtube highlight video. Would you mind busting out your 3D glasses and checking it out?" Still not the best way to do it, but better than the deceitful route you chose.

Easy...poor guy just finished making it.
Exactly. Video uploaded today. Forum account created today. Put 2 and 2 together.
Should I have lied and told him it was super awesome to spare his feelings?

I gave an honest criticism, should I be sorry for that?

Well I'm not and I stand by my criticism. In fact another thing that was sub par about the video was the almost exclusive usage of the end zone view, while that is a good angle and I appreciate it, I would also have liked to see a little more of either the All-22 or even the standard broadcast view so we could see how Fred attacked the plays as they developed.

Shoddy job all around. If the OP steps up his game I would have no problem with him using the SP to promote his vids but if this is what we can expect going forward then he should probably just give up.

You're missing out on us making fun of the OP for making a thinly-veiled "Hey look at my Youtube video I just made!" post.

Didn't bother watching the overly critiqued video but Fred Taylor is perhaps the most underrated NFL player in the last 15 yrs. There are relatively few NFL players with elite level talent, even fewer that have good health and circumstance come together with their talent to allow for historical greatness. Taylor had all of the talent and the circumstance for a couple of years until injury derailed him. In my book he's a half step below Bo Jackson in that respect. He was that good.

Easily one of my favorite RBs of all time.

Poor OP. He'll never post again most likely.
Not sure what you mean by this, it's a good post. These responses aren't sarcastic. Taylor is absurdly underrated. One of the beat writers on the Packers, whom was with Jacksonville during the Taylor years, said Fred was not only one of his favorite interviewees over the last 35 years, but also one of the best players he's ever seen. That's high praise from a guy who has covered the entirety of the modern NFL (including the 4 Steelers Super Bowl wins and the recent Packers Super Bowl win - so he's covered some damn good teams).

Why do people keep saying Fred Taylor is underrated? I think he is universally accepted as one of the best backs of his generation.

Universally accepted by whom? Outside of poorly produced YouTube videos, I haven't seen a Fred Taylor highlight in years/decade.

Really? His generation of RBs included the following names;Ladainian Tomlinson

Jamal Lewis

Edge James

Clinton Portis

Priest Holmes

Shaun Alexander

Eddie George

Curtis Martin

Corey Dillon

Marshall Faulk

Tiki Barber

Ahman Green

Ricky Williams

Who is he universally accepted as better than of this group? I'm curious.

Shouldn't you be answering that? Do you put all those guys above Fred? I certainly don't

Marshall

LT

Curtis

Edge

Fred

I would say that qualifies him as one of the best of his generation.

You should answer because I already stated that I think he is universally accepted as one of the best of his generation. It's on you to say why he's not. Do you honestly think all the guys on your list were better than Fred?

I think may be regarded as one of the best, but not in the same way as a LaDainian Tomlinson id regarded as one of the best. Looking at the above list, the only one that would give me pause is Marshall Faulk. I'd easily take Fred over all the rest. Is he universally regarded in that way? I doubt it.
