Sidney Rice misses Thurs practice (1 Viewer)

This is practically a homecoming game for Sidney. Gotta believe he'll play if at all possible.
Yes, he lives 26 minutes away and gave away 70 tickets to friends and family. He'll be in there.
On a more upbeat note, wide receiver Sidney Rice will get a chance Sunday night to play in front of plenty of familiar faces when the Vikings play at Carolina. Rice wrote on his blog Wednesday that while Charlotte isn't his home, it's only about 25 minutes from Gaffney, S.C., where he grew up. Rice will be getting about 70 tickets for the game.

Thanks for the post. I was a little nervous.

I know Carolina has a decent pass defense but this could be fun to watch if Captain Munnerlyn is matched up on Sidney. Huge size difference, and Captain will definitely bite on pumps/fakes. Big homegaming game for Sidney, Jasper Brinkey and Captain. If you play IDPs *** might be a good play this weekend as well.

It is going to be great to see all of those Gamecocks in action Sunday.

Yeah, missing practice today is not a good sign. Now' I'm pretty concerned.
It's been reported he has the flu - I suspect he's been ordered to stay away from the locker room. If he travels with the team I'd expect him to play. My $0.02.
AgreeAny Minnesota Homers have any news from a local beat writer?Sorry, but I have no options for him except a player from Sat. night. I have to get all the info I can by tom. night.

I read on Viking Update that he was at practice today (although he didn't practice), but he wasn't there yesterday, so he must be feeling a little better.

Thanks. Sounds promising. I've looked everywhere and can't find anything new.

Damn, might have to go with Calvin Johnson if he's active. Sidney Rice will probably light it up but it's the playoffs and a goose egg is out of the question, can't afford to gamble with the late game.

Right there w/ you on this choice of options @ WR3, and the late game forces the decision. At least it kind of helps that CAR is about a top 5 D vs. the pass.

FFChamps) Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Sidney Rice is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Panthers after missing two straight days of practice with an illness. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports, however, that Rice "was in the locker room this afternoon and he was on the field during the portion of practice that was open to the media." Analysis: If Rice was feeling well enough to be hanging around the locker room and practice field on Friday, something tells us the team doctors will be able to medicate well enough to play in the next 48 hours.

The Flu...and he was around the team the last couple of days?

Of course he is playing.

The Flu??? It is crunch time for the Vikings to secure the 2nd seed.

I'm not as concerned about him having the flu and the impact on his play tomorrow night as I am Carolina's ability to defend the pass. In my league they're the second toughest team for WRs to get fantasy points against.

Considering MSW played on Thursday my only other option is Calvin Johnson outside of Rice. This can be really bad for me... I have to go with Calvin Johnson if he's playing... these late games are the devil.Edit: because I really don't want to play Calvin with Cpep starting... I picked up Berrian just in case rice doesn't play... i'll at least have 2 receivers on the same late game.

I have looked all over the internet and have not heard anything new on Rice. Whether he traveled with the team, or anything else.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After missing two practices because of an illness, Vikings receiver Sidney Rice said Saturday night that he's "ready to go."

Rice doesn't want to disappoint the 68 family and friends who are driving the half-hour from Gaffney, S.C., to see him play against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium today.

"I wasn't feeling good at all," Rice said, not specifying what ailed him. "But I started feeling better (Friday)."
