No injury, just an undisclosed illness. They said he should be fine.nyGIANTSnj said:Thanks for the info. Has there been any update recently about rice and his injury?MNTom said:Sidney Rice and Harvin both absent from Thursday practice:

Yes, he lives 26 minutes away and gave away 70 tickets to friends and family. He'll be in there. This is practically a homecoming game for Sidney. Gotta believe he'll play if at all possible.
http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/...QL7PQLanchO7DiUOn a more upbeat note, wide receiver Sidney Rice will get a chance Sunday night to play in front of plenty of familiar faces when the Vikings play at Carolina. Rice wrote on his blog Wednesday that while Charlotte isn't his home, it's only about 25 minutes from Gaffney, S.C., where he grew up. Rice will be getting about 70 tickets for the game.

Gonorrhea? That's something you wouldn't disclose anyway. No injury, just an undisclosed illness. They said he should be fine.nyGIANTSnj said:Thanks for the info. Has there been any update recently about rice and his injury?MNTom said:Sidney Rice and Harvin both absent from Thursday practice:

It is going to be great to see all of those Gamecocks in action Sunday.I know Carolina has a decent pass defense but this could be fun to watch if Captain Munnerlyn is matched up on Sidney. Huge size difference, and Captain will definitely bite on pumps/fakes. Big homegaming game for Sidney, Jasper Brinkey and Captain. If you play IDPs *** might be a good play this weekend as well.

no practice for Rice on Fri ... limited participation for Harvin on FriAny update on Rice? I saw an update on harvin, but can't find anything about Rice.
Does this do anything for Berrian's value?ETA: Potentially?no practice for Rice on Fri ... limited participation for Harvin on FriAny update on Rice? I saw an update on harvin, but can't find anything about Rice.
He hasn't practiced in two days and no one knows what kind of illness he has. I know he is playing in front of family, but not sure why you are so confident he is playing. He is playing...no doubt.
Not only that but he plays the late game on Sunday. Unless I hear he's definitely playing, I'm benching him.He hasn't practiced in two days and no one knows what kind of illness he has. It's been reported he has the flu - I suspect he's been ordered to stay away from the locker room. If he travels with the team I'd expect him to play. My $0.02.Yeah, missing practice today is not a good sign. Now' I'm pretty concerned.
AgreeAny Minnesota Homers have any news from a local beat writer?Sorry, but I have no options for him except a player from Sat. night. I have to get all the info I can by tom. night. It's been reported he has the flu - I suspect he's been ordered to stay away from the locker room. If he travels with the team I'd expect him to play. I read on Viking Update that he was at practice today (although he didn't practice), but he wasn't there yesterday, so he must be feeling a little better.AgreeAny Minnesota Homers have any news from a local beat writer?Sorry, but I have no options for him except a player from Sat. night. Thanks. Sounds promising. Right there w/ you on this choice of options @ WR3, and the late game forces the decision. At least it kind of helps that CAR is about a top 5 D vs. the pass.Damn, might have to go with Calvin Johnson if he's active. Sidney Rice will probably light it up but it's the playoffs and a goose egg is out of the question, can't afford to gamble with the late game.
No but there is no way he isn't making this trip.Any news if he traveled with the team?
Considering MSW played on Thursday my only other option is Calvin Johnson outside of Rice. This can be really bad for me... I have to go with Calvin Johnson if he's playing... these late games are the devil.Edit: because I really don't want to play Calvin with Cpep starting... I picked up Berrian just in case rice doesn't play... i'll at least have 2 receivers on the same late game.I'm not as concerned about him having the flu and the impact on his play tomorrow night as I am Carolina's ability to defend the pass. In my league they're the second toughest team for WRs to get fantasy points against.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After missing two practices because of an illness, Vikings receiver Sidney Rice said Saturday night that he's "ready to go."
Rice doesn't want to disappoint the 68 family and friends who are driving the half-hour from Gaffney, S.C., to see him play against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium today.
"I wasn't feeling good at all," Rice said, not specifying what ailed him. "But I started feeling better (Friday)."
