Since Big Ben will likely sit out training camp (1 Viewer)

The obvious answer is Batch, but I'm wonderin' if Jacobs gets a shot at the first unit sometime this summer.

It will be interesting to see if a QB battle for the number 2 position occurs.

Thanks for the indepth response! :hophead:

Given the recent scare and that Batch would not be a long term solution, I think the Steelers might focus a little more on Jacobs to really se if he can cut it as an NFL starter.

Hey man what do you want? Batch will run the show Omar will be limited. Hell if they are going to toss a rookie out there when they just won a Superbowl. I think they should be more concerned about Holmes development in the offense and to do that they need a vet not a 5th round rookie who is working on his mechanics out there.

I think they would be better served to worry about Ben's backup than worry about a rookie wideout, who will probably take years to develop. Ward & Wilson can hold down the starting positions.

If Ben is out more than training camp & the pre-season (doubtful as it may be), I would like to see what Jacobs is capable of doing.

There is no reason to pull the rug out from under Batch. With Ben out for at least the first two and probably three preseason games, Jacobs will have plenty of opportunites to show what he's got.

I know what he's capable of... and it isn't leading a Superbowl team as a rookie. He is a good fit for the offense and like Godsbrother said he'll get his shots... but it has to be Batch right now.

There's no question who will run the first team offense this year in Ben's absence, but I do expect to see Jacobs get a fair amount of playing time.

Batch is better than people give him credit for. of course, I've always been a fan, so my opinion is a bit biased. IMO, he's among the better backups in the league. (I'm not going to get into an argument on this point.)

Long term, I would love to see what Omar can do, but there's no chance of him leading the team through camp as a rookie.

Batch is a seasoned veteran and he was 2-0 last year when Big Ben and Tommy Maddox went down. It was not always pretty but he got the job done.
