I just bought mine last week. I love it. 24 hours of NFL coverage on Channel 124. They even have a Fantasy Football program. I haven't heard it yet but any show willing to devote 3 hours to FF is okay in my book. As far as your question: I don't think you get specific local programming. I am under the assumption that since it's a national network you don't get a local channel. I could be wrong though.

You'll be looking a very long time. You're not going to find local programming on Sirius.Keep it on channel 124. More specifically the show, 'Movin' the Chains', with Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan.

The only local radio is the broadcast for both teams during the NFL season.

I 2nd PK and Ryan, great show

If it's anything like XM, you can always turn it off and still get your normal local radio programming. But with NFL radio network, I doubt you want to do that.

Am I the only person whose nerves Tim Ryan gets on? He acts like he was an all pro.

EDIT: Spelling

Sirius is no different than XM. It just comes through a vacant spot on your FM dial so you don't lose out on any of your 'normal' (read: boring) radio.

You won't miss local radio when you get Sirius. It is easily the best investment I've made entertainment-wise, and it's the best $13 I spend every month, no question. I've had it since Dec 26 and the novilty hasn't even come close to wearing off, in fact I am more in love with the product now than when I got it.

Howard 100 and 101 are incredible and funny.

NFL 124 is fantastic

ESPN Radio is obviously great.

The music is commercial free and the variety of music is amazing, you will never run out of stuff to listen to.

I don't know anybody whose tried Sirius and not fallen entirely in love with the product. I can't even listen to normal radio now....the commercials and dweeby announcers make me want to drive into a tree.

And no, I don't work for them. This is 110% pure customer satisfaction you're reading.

is it just me or does adam schein get on your nerves? he seems to be the biggest self righteous, blow hard that likes to hear himself talk. (other than Rome) during interviews with people he talks 70% of the time and he does the channel promo between each question. he always seems to cut callers off and even if he doesnt have a great point he'll act like its the cure for cancer and everyone needs to listen to his rant.

I just got Sirius for Father's Day, and they have added another fan. All I have now is for the car-no home kit yet. But I do have a question for any long time users. I know you can go to sirius.com on the PC and listen to Sirius but there are no sports channels on Sirius for the PC. How about during football season? Will that change? Or will I have to get a home kit if I want to listen to games in my house?

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm hoping they'll stream the games but I'm guessing they won't.
They did not have any football online last year. However, they also did not have Howard online until lately when there was such a big demand. They can't keep up with the demand so they are giving the customer anything they want. I have a feeling they may be able to offer it this year, and that would be wonderful, but we shall see! That would be a great thing to write to Sirrius or email them.

The NFL are as big of a cornerstone to Sirius as Howard Stern has become, I'm sure the NFL stuff will be streaming come Sept. The website has only become a business priority for them over the last couple months, so I think you're watching a company in it's infancy blossom into meeting all of it's customer demands.

Blossom was a horrendous TV show. What happened to that little skank?

I've had Sirius since March '05 and it's been great. I always looked forward to the afternoon blitz with Schein and Riggins. Since Riggins has left Jerry Rice has stepped in. Has anyone else noticed that Rice seems way out of his element? Hopefully he'll get the hang of it, but it's hard to compete with Adam Schein when it comes to shooting the bull.

Only limited talk programming is available online, and apparently enough of the NFL Radio programming is also on TV on NFL Network that they can't stream it. Bums me out, too.Go ahead and get the home kit, or a boombox like I did, so I can listen while raking leaves or laying in the hammock.

Haven't heard the show yet this year but I was seriously bummed when I heard Riggo was out. I wonder why they made that switch? Rice is a bigger name, I guess, but has no broadcast experience.

If you have the kind of receiver that broadcasts to an FM station, you have one other option. Set any radio in your house to that FM station and turn the power on your receiver. The things got a decent range to it. It won't go too far , but I would guess it might broadcast up to 100'. Obviously, it isn't great for your car battery but if you just want to play a couple of games on Sunday or something, it'll work.

Adam,It's gonna kill me to have to wait until almost Sept for your show. On the other hand, at least I won't be in trouble until then for ignoring my wife on Fri nights....

It's only three more weeks and all camps will be underway by then.

Yes, but drafts start BEFORE then, dang it.
Drafts all all year really. We just wanted to pick a time when all camps were in session so we had a better idea of what's going on. We started one week earlier last year I believe.

Also, I'm hosting this Saturday from 8-11 am est, we'll probably take some fantasy calls in the last hour.

Anyone know how long the contract is with the NFL??
According to some people on the Sternfannetwork (meaning they don't exactly work at Sirius, so I can't say this is for sure) they think the NFL is signed until 2011.

Are you the same Adam from where I think your from? I saw you give a great Fantasy Football camp in CT last year, .. also I heard you this morning mentioning the July 28th date. Thanks for the heads up on here too.

Question: In terms of NFL and sport radio with a football focus, is Sirius better than XM, or are they basically the same?

Thinking of getting on of these products since, up here in Canada, NFL takes a back seat to hockey and a lot of other sports.

TIA.

Correct. BTW, I'll be hosting the next two Saturday's from 8-11 am est. Look for some fantasy talk in the final hour of each show.

I sent Sirius an email asking about the streaming of games this season. Here is their reply.

Thank you for contacting SIRIUS regarding our broadcasts of the NFL

games, and asking if we will broadcast them over the online Media

Player. We understand your desire to listen to football at your

computer, and we are here to help you.

Michael, we do not offer any sports broadcasts on our online Media

Player. This does include the NFL games. We realize there are many of

our customers that would love for that to happen, but at this time, it

is not in this seasons' schedule. We do apologize for the

inconvenience.

Bummer.

Jerry Rice may have a lot to add to the show, but I'll never find out.I got fed up hearing him say WIF instead of "with"...

Are you joking or did you not read the entire rest of this thread?NFL and Sirius have a contract together, Sirius has worlds more access to NFL stuff...the NFL coverage is far superior on Sirius.

Cool. Wasn't aware of the contract Sirius has with the NFL. That pretty much answers my questions KTG. Thanks.
