Sjax Ranking this Week? (1 Viewer)

I am as big of a fan of Jackson's talent as the next guy and think he is a beast in PPR, but his number one ranking this week shocked me.

Did it take anyone else by surprise against a very stout 49ers D? I hope it comes to fruition, but I was pretty surprised.

EDIT: Guessing L Robinson and Avery being out is a big boost to Sjax in the staff's eyes? 7 catches is a big prediction.

I'm not really surprised. I would have perhaps had him as low as #4 but when healthy there's little reason he should ever be ranked outside the top 5.

I haven't paid attention to the rankings yet, guess I'll have to finally take a look tonight.

I love the guy's talent much like the staff - but in that offense, against that d, it surprised me he was above 3. I actually thought he would be lower this week rather than higher. Again, I am assuming the down tick in the passing game contributed to this position.

The reason I'd consistently rank him out of the top 5 is because he doesn't score touchdowns. Sure, he'll get 1500 total yards, but with 4-6 TDs on the year, he's not an elite FANTASY talent.I love watching the guy play, but from a fantasy perspective there are at least half a dozen better options each week. This will be a telling week for him vs. the 49ers who have a top 5 run defense...

SJax is about an elite of an option as elite options can come - touchdowns or not. For the last several years he's been a top 5 rb on a ppg basis. Ppr and non-ppr alike.

Your post sounds nice but it's totally incorrect.

I think Avery is expected to play. The 49ers are hard to run on so I'd be surprised if he fulfills that ranking this weekend, but you never know. I do think the offense seemed to have a spark with Boller in rather than Bulger.Maybe they are basing the catches off what the Cardinals had to do against the 49ers in week 1. Hightower had the most receptions in that game.

My league gives 1/10 rushing or receiving and 6 for a touchdown.Past rankings through 16 games (our fantasy season including playoffs):2009: #162008: #202007: #14Those rankings are discounting games that he did not play due to injury or bye.Without doubt he's a great RB, but not a great fantasy RB due to the team and limited opportunities.

Against 49's D, I dont see him being #1. I could see C Benson vs the Browns doing better than Sjax vs the 9ers.

RBs have had pretty good receiving days against the 49ers so far.

Hightower --- 12-121

Forsett ------- 6-57

Taylor -------- 7-70

The 49ers are going to be pissed after the loss in MIN and will put a pounding on the Rams. They'll be abandoning the run by halftime.

Rams have stunk basically since Martz left . . . being down big is nothing new - what is great about Jackson is that he doesnt leave the field in obvious passing situations - he gets a lot of garbage yardage when the game is over . . .

His yardage has been pretty good, his lack of TDs hurts but I think they will come. Rams drives are still being stalled by penalties on the Oline, if that gets better I think he'll start scoring.

Maybe it's my imagination, but as a 2time SJax owner it seems like the Rams do a much better job of keeping games competitive at least for half when they're at home; where in someone else's barn they're frequently down 17-0 before the national anthem. I don't see how he is ranked first this week.

agree about the ranking - I dont have the stats to back it up , but I've been a Jackson owner in dynasty as long as he's been in the NFL, and I don't think it's warranted . . .that being said, I wanted to reinforce the notion that a top 5 ranking is not unrealistic . . .

Just read Dodds' explanation on his WR rankings and I am guessing the same is true for RBs. Sjax is now ranked lower, making more sense. Won't jump the gun anymore, thanks DD.
