The Redskins have reportedly shown "substantial interest" in Ben Taylor.

They've shown substantial interest in just about everyone. :lmao: Taylor, a free agent linebacker, had 139 tackles in 2005 but just a dozen in 2006.

Actually, every FA or possible traded player is getting linked up with Denver this offseason. Of course, the Redskins are mentioned in a few too. It's on offseason tradition now! ;) Now on the actual report of Taylor maybe becoming a Redskin...

Are they unhappy with Fletcher, Marshall, Washington, & McIntosh?
:thumbup:IMO, everything they are doing and considering this offseason (defensively) is to vastly improve their depth (despite the reported terms for a Briggs or A.Samuels trade). Injuries are the biggest culprit in the downward spiral of the 'Skins defensive production last year. There just wasn't decent talent behind the starters. Signing Smoot, Macklin and Stoutamire, plus resigning Fox and Jimoh, are upgrades (or at least lateral moves; Mike Rumph, Troy Vincent and Kenny Wright were lost to FA) to the secondary, which really got out of whack last year when Springs (and to a lesser extent Pierson Prioleau) missed time with injuries. The Fletcher signing, at LB, instantly created great depth at LB. Maybe the interest in Taylor is in the event that the Briggs trade comes back and McIntosh or Marshall gets included in the deal. At the moment, I still just think it's an overall depth move. I'm sure Taylor could be had for a vet minimum + minimal SB contract.
