Houston runs the ball well, and with Schaub moving the ball Ahman will get plenty of goal line looks. If Ahman stays healthy he is looking at 1250 rushing 10 tds 37 receptions 205 yards receiving 1 td. He looks like tremendous value he will be selected in the 4th or 5th round.

Respond with what you think Ahman's best season could be this year!

I agree with that. Guys like Vernand Morency was putting up stats. Ahman needed a fresh start. The Packers O-line sucks so Ahman gets a huge upgrade with that trade.

Houston runs the ball well? Schaub moving the ball?

Houston hasn't ran the ball well since DD went down a couple/few years ago.

Schaub hasn't proven anything other than he's a mediocre backup (still trying to figure out all the man-love for this guy).

Ahman is 30 years old and hasn't played a full season since 2003.

Value? Maybe. But I wouldn't be too optimistic. Houston still doesn't have a proven QB, a sub-par O-line and only one WR. AJ will get the double teams and the defense will always have 8 in the box to test Schaub and that shaky o-line.

Not to mention Dayne is still there to vulture TD's and get a healthy dose of carries. And Lundy...and whatever other FA's they bring in or draft.

I don't think I'd even reach for Ahman in the 4th or 5th...more like the 8th or 9th round.

I am a Ahman Green fan, but I will go with 7 rushing and 2 receiving TDs.

Hard to put much faith on the offense getting first downs this year. Might be playing from behind too.

Don't be confused about Houston running the ball well. Dom Davy was good, but Ahman has the same amount of talent if not more. How old was Curtis Martin when he went on his final fantasy tear?

Schaub is unproven, but guys like you automatically hate on him. Bottom line this guy is a pure passer that can handle pressure. He has a good chance to succeed and that means Ahman will continue to get opportunities.

RON DAYNE

I hope everyone thinks like you and lets him pass to the 8th round!

Ron "fatman" DayneWali "untalented" LundySamkon GadoChris TaylorI think that explains it. Dont you think?
Also playing from behind alot takes away from your commitment to the run game. But admittedly, I didn't watch enough of the Texas to see if they were behind because they didn't run well or if they didn't run well because they were behind.

Without DD that team just was too short on talent. No threat outside of AJ. Not to mention NO talent in the backfield.

Ahamn...career year this year??

Yeah, like he approaches his 2003 numbers.

355 rushes

1883 yards

15 tds

I mentioned this in another thread. I think Ahman represents excellent value this year. I actually see more recieving than you with lesser td's.

looking at D Davis 2003-2005, he averaged about 19 or 20 rushes a game at about 4 YPC.

he had 3.8 receptions per game at roughly 8 yards per catch.

in 2004 and 2006 (2005 hurt allyear) a green had 17-19 carries a game for 4+ ypc

and had 2.6-3.2 reception per game with 7-8 yards per catch.

considering green was ranked the # 15 RB in 2006, i would think he could be again ranked as the #14-18RB

and a decent #2 RB that can be drafted in the spot of a #3 most likely.

assuming he the main guy there, i see 1000-1100 yards rushing 3.9 YPC (roughly 260-280 rushing attempts)6-7 Rushing tds,

50ish receptions for about 350-400 yards with a TD or two.

the big question will be is he the main RB. if he splits time this drops his value big time. however, if he is the main guy and get the carries, he will be a great #3 and a decent #2

Even at this stage in his career Ahman is better than any RB Houston has had.

1600 total/8-10 TD's is very attainable.

Trying to rebuild in this fashion never works. NFL dominance starts in the offensive and defensive lines. Throwing money at skill position players is just a diversion to keep the fans interested. I thought the exact same thing when the Cardinals signed James last year. I predict a very ugly year in Houston.

Do not predict Ahman's catches based on Davis/Williams previous catches. THose were with a different coach and a different QB. Carr dumped the ball off a ton to the RB/TE safety valve. Schaub will not do it nearly as much. Carr, as of now, has never progressed beyond the Tedford "make one read and then dump the ball off" system. While I am not saying Schaub will be good, he will without a doubt be better than Carr in that area.
