Whether it be a safety or corner the players that move down seem to be more productive. May very well bear needing its own thread ala the every down lb'er thread. Woodson drops down to slot db. Watching the ravens games Webb seems to drop down to the slot. The commentators even call Webb a rover and say his role and responsibilities are growing and this role would stick. These type of DB's get more tackle and blitzing opportunities mainly b/c they are closer to qb/Los and slot wr are targeted so often. I've been trying to figure out if Mccourty/verner will be more productive and its clear verner is around the ball much more with his role of dropping down to the slot(and he's less talented and targeted more I believe). If anyone has a comprehensive list of such players I'd love to see it

great topic, I've been having similar thoughts myself on the whole Slot CB situation since in essence they are now a 12th starter on defense. A comprehensive sticky post like the 3 down LB thread would be awesome & would be just another reason why FBG are the only place to come for IDP FF.

While I would welcome a list all nickel/slot db's, I was really after the normal starters that slide inside/down to cover the slot when the nickel db comes in.

jets - think they might be doing that jayhawk shift thing where a safety slides over to the slot?

i know the jets will slide Landry down to cover TE's, or atleast announcers have mentioned he is to be the main combatant against the NE TE's. i have read a quote on Ross sometime ago as well about how he will slide from the outside to the slot when going to nickel/dime.
