The books are pretty formulaic after the first 2. Different bad guys, same plot. Insert one expendable character who tragically dies in the next book.I watched season 1 when I had a free subscription to Apple TV+. It was good but not so great to keep me paying for Apple's rather thin streaming catalog.
RidiculousI read all 9 books in the series. They go downhill after the first 3.
I'd have the conversation but I'd also temper that statement with "let's give it another season or two first". As long as Gary Oldman is involved I think he can carry the show and regardless, I'll watch but I think this could go off the rails pretty quick. That is all.
We're into season 4, so go ahead and take a bite of Season 3.I'd have the conversation but I'd also temper that statement with "let's give it another season or two first". As long as Gary Oldman is involved I think he can carry the show and regardless, I'll watch but I think this could go off the rails pretty quick. That is all.
Caveat - haven't seen season 3 yet, waiting for all of them to drop.

I meant 4. I re-upped Apple for it for season 3 thinking they all dropped at once then paid for 3 months to finish it out. Figured this time I would just wait until they were all out and catch it.We're into season 4, so go ahead and take a bite of Season 3.I'd have the conversation but I'd also temper that statement with "let's give it another season or two first". I take it you’ve never seen Better Call Saul or Succession?
Fwiw, this has felt like the best season of Slough TV-wise so far, albeit only 2 eps in.The books are pretty formulaic after the first 2. Different bad guys, same plot. I watched the first 2 seasons. Saw enough. Good, but not great, show.
BCS is basically breaking bad season -5 to 0. Put them in the same grouping.I take it you’ve never seen Better Call Saul or Succession?
to be fair I haven’t watched Slow Horses yet, maybe I’ll fire up an Apple trial down the roadBCS is basically breaking bad season -5 to 0. Put them in the same grouping.I take it you’ve never seen Better Call Saul or Succession?
Succession is top tier, but lacks the individual goat performance
I want to be wrong but I don’t think there’s anything on TV close to Succession right nowI take it you’ve never seen Better Call Saul or Succession?
She won't let you live long enough?Lamb is everything I hope to live long enough to become, but my wife won’t let me.

Please don't ever put Succession on the same list as Better Call Saul. It was pretty awful.I take it you’ve never seen Better Call Saul or Succession?

Hmmm, I thought both were very good so I'm completely shuked as to which one you thought was awful. Please don't ever put Succession on the same list as Better Call Saul. It was pretty awful.

I love Better Call Saul.
laughing thingy"It's not even the best workplace comedy set in Slough" :johnlennon:
It took me a bit to get there in the first season... And then I couldnt stop.I watched the first couple episodes a week or so ago. It was fine but it didn't suck me in to where I just wanted to keep watching and going to the next episode. I will likely continue at some point but I haven't been "captured" by it.
This, Oldman carries the show for sure but the side stories are interesting enough to keep your attention. Its a really fun ride. Not tippy top TV, but quite fun and Oldman chewing up scenes is worth it by itself.
Same here. We started watching this just recently when my wife got a free subscription for a few months and a friend recommended this show to her. Tried a couple episodes and it was good enough to keep watching and that turned into 3 episodes a night and now we're halfway through the 4th season just like that.It took me a bit to get there in the first season... Better Call Saul
Breaking Bad
Slow Horses
Succession.
I found it to have too many no freaking way plot moving dumb things happening this seasonSeason 4 was missing something for me as I didn't really enjoy it as much as the first three.
Black Sails has been great.
But it may have reached a tipping point a few eps into S4.
Id been waiting for the inevitable decline- either repeating itself plot wise or getting into stupid plot driving actions by characters. It's telling that even the characters are talking about the rinse repeat quality of the story getting exhausting- explicitly layed out by Max here in S4. And then we have a goofily nonsensical Teach & Rackham pirate attack doomed strictly for plot purposes.
I'm starting to question where this is supposed to go, but will keep with it.
Finished up this weekend, loved it. Sad it's only 6 episodes. When it ended, had that, "wait, what?" feeling. Finally got around to starting season 4, 3 episodes in confirms I would watch this for as long as Gary Oldman plays the lead

I didn't like Succession at all because of the story and characters, but I get it's qualities.
