Slow Horses is the best TV show since Breaking Bad. (1 Viewer)

I read all 9 books in the series. They go downhill after the first 3. The series has been pretty true to the books.

Gary Oldman is great.

I watched season 1 when I had a free subscription to Apple TV+. It was good but not so great to keep me paying for Apple's rather thin streaming catalog.

The books are pretty formulaic after the first 2. Different bad guys, same plot. Insert one expendable character who tragically dies in the next book.

I watched the first 2 seasons. Saw enough. Good, but not great, show.

That is all.
I'd have the conversation but I'd also temper that statement with "let's give it another season or two first". As long as Gary Oldman is involved I think he can carry the show and regardless, I'll watch but I think this could go off the rails pretty quick.

Caveat - haven't seen season 3 yet, waiting for all of them to drop.

We're into season 4, so go ahead and take a bite of Season 3.

:lmao: I meant 4. I re-upped Apple for it for season 3 thinking they all dropped at once then paid for 3 months to finish it out. Figured this time I would just wait until they were all out and catch it.

Fwiw, this has felt like the best season of Slough TV-wise so far, albeit only 2 eps in.

Waiting for the season to finish so I can binge. Big fan from the start.

Speaking of old people, patiently waiting for the Netflix comedy based on the Thursday Murder Club books, which is like a British version of Only Murders in the Building. A group of retirees at a care home solve murders in their town. The cast is excellent: Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Jonathan Pryce, David Tennant, Paul Freeman (Raiders of the Lost Ark), and Ben Kingsley.

"My phone? No...I FaceTime my kids on it"

Lamb: "I don't care if you AssTime the Pope on it, give it to me"

Please don't ever put Succession on the same list as Better Call Saul. It was pretty awful.
Hmmm, I thought both were very good so I'm completely shuked as to which one you thought was awful.
I thought that Succession was a steaming pile of crap.
I love Better Call Saul.
I didn't like Succession at all because of the story and characters, but I get it's qualities. Writing and acting alone elevated it from a "steaming pile" even if I had zero interest in watching it after seeing the first few episodes.

I watched the first couple episodes a week or so ago. It was fine but it didn't suck me in to where I just wanted to keep watching and going to the next episode. I will likely continue at some point but I haven't been "captured" by it.

It took me a bit to get there in the first season... And then I couldnt stop.

Its a really fun ride. Not tippy top TV, but quite fun and Oldman chewing up scenes is worth it by itself.

Black Sails has been great.

But it may have reached a tipping point a few eps into S4.

Id been waiting for the inevitable decline- either repeating itself plot wise or getting into stupid plot driving actions by characters. It's telling that even the characters are talking about the rinse repeat quality of the story getting exhausting- explicitly layed out by Max here in S4. And then we have a goofily nonsensical Teach & Rackham pirate attack doomed strictly for plot purposes.

I'm starting to question where this is supposed to go, but will keep with it.

Same here. We started watching this just recently when my wife got a free subscription for a few months and a friend recommended this show to her. Tried a couple episodes and it was good enough to keep watching and that turned into 3 episodes a night and now we're halfway through the 4th season just like that.

Finally got around to starting season4, 3 episodes in confirms I would watch this for as long as Gary Oldman plays the lead

Better Call Saul
Breaking Bad

Slow Horses

Succession.

Yeah, people who group Succession in the same breath as BB/BCS make me wonder. It's not even in the same ballpark, same sport, whatever you want to call it. Below average show at best.

That being said, I'm looking forward to giving Slow Horses a chance. Big Oldman fan from his Leon and "whiteboy days".
