Sneaky Play of Week 4 (1 Viewer)

I love this matchup against Atlanta.

First you have Schaub wanting to perform well against his old team.

Then you have AJ, Jacoby and (probably) Green out which leaves only Daniels and Davis as the targets.

And then you have the sorry Atlanta defense.

Does this all mean a nice day for Andre Davis as a sneaky sleeper for week 4? Or did someone slip something in my coffee this morning?

If Hall shut Steve Smith down, imagine what he could do to Andre Davis  ... after he sits out his quarter or whatever of course.

Brandon Stokley is my sneaky play this week.
Mine, too.I am sure Javon Walker will give it a go this week - but he's really been gimpy and hasn't looked like his old self even when healthy - I expect him to play the role of decoy.Stokely against his former team sounds like a nice sneaky move.

I am thinking that Drew Bennet shows up this weekend. The Boys defense gives up yardage through the air, and I expect Bulger to get on track this weekend. I still think the Rams lose the game, but think the offense shows life.

I like Davis too. He'll get at least one full quarter and maybe more with no Hall on the field. And it's not like Hall's a great player anyway so even after he returns Davis could still get some against him. Davis just missed a TD last week against a stingy Indy defense and I think Schaub will continue to put up better production than people are anticipating and could find Davis for a TD and 5-6 receptions.

I like the Stokley pick as well if Walker doesn't play. The Broncos will likely have to throw it a lot and as Schaub showed last week they can be passed on.

Yes, he's been talked about in fantasy circles since AJ and J Jones were injured, but lets not forget that he's been a nothing since 2003. I would think that you could find a better WR #3 or RB #3 or TE #2 that is better than Davis in your fantasy league.

I also wanted to add, that I picked him up in 1 league only to say to myself, "what the hell am I thinking?", only to drop him for someone with rational thinking.

It is still to early in his career to call him great, but the guy is really, really, really good. If he has his head on straight Hall would eat Davis' lunch six days a week and twice on Sunday. The only thing Davis has going for him is that Hall may spend part of the day covering Jerome Mathis.

Mathis is out, but the Texans do have David Anderson for the Falcons to lose sleep over.

So which player did you decide had more rational thought than Davis?

I think he's over-rated. He talks a big game and likes to project himself as being an elite CB but I'm not convinced he really is one. He can be taken advantage of. That said, he made Smith his b***h for most of the game last week and that was very impressive.

P.S. - Davis may not be the sneaky play on the Texans - IMO, Kevin Walter would be. I'd only see him hit the field, though, in a 1/2/3/1/1/1 league with a flex W/R, and you have Portis/Bush or injured players an dmust play deep in your bench this week. I am actually considering starting either him or Marcus Pollard if I feel plex is a no-go. (Yes, I'll take Plex' zero, I'm just throwing the name out there).

My guess is Walter jumps significantly from his 2 targets per game, maybe into a heady 6 or 7 targets, 50-ish yards. The question is whether he will see the end zone - if he does, I am prophetic, If he doesn't, I'm grasping at straws. But, the guy is a big target and a possession type receiver, so an end zone grab is not out of the question.

What's concerning about the Walter pick is that even with the WRs in rough shape the Texans still aren't throwing to him. He only had two targets last week and that was with Johnson out and then Jones leaving too. He looks to be a distant fourth in the passing game right now behind Daniels, Davis and whoever is at RB.

Based on that alone I do not like Davis' chances. And since when has Davis proven to be effective even against nickel or dime backs?Advantage Hall.

I understand.I don't have your confidence in Davis as a top target option, though - I think dink and dunk to the backs and Daniels will be the name of this game. I think Davis and Walter have relatively equal number of targets simply b/c Dante Hall will be covering Davis. Cover Davis, bring safety up b/c you've been targeting the backs and Daniels over the middle, and Walter is in single coverage for the possession throws (short outs and come back throws). I have nothing vested in either player or either team, so I don't really care - it's just how I see it going. And I simply don't see Davis as the sneaky play from that team this week just b/c he might be the guy the team wants to get the ball. I think Walter will be open more often than Davis, and is the type of receiver who can play against Chris Houston (5'10/180 versus 6'3/220), and will therefore see a significant bump in targets this week.
