Sneaky WR Plays Week 13 (1 Viewer)

Trap Play

Footballguy
Hi all.

If your team is like mine you need a sneaky WR play at WR2 virtually every week. TO has worked out well for me since Bowe's suspension, but with Revis covering him this week I'm forced to dig deeper.

What are some sneaky WR plays Week 13?

I will get the ball rolling with the Rams vs. Bears game. I think both Donnie Avery and Devin Hester could make nice plays this week.

Anyone else?

Not sure if Jason Avant is flying under the radar after the last two games but his value is soaring this week in my opinion. In the same game, Michael Jenkins has had back-to-back good games and Redman targeted him quite a bit last week. If you have to dig real deep, he could be a decent option.

Mark Clayton is impossible to trust but if the Packers put Woodson on Mason, Flacco should look to get the ball more to Clayton. And as he showed last week, he has plenty of upside. Unfortunately, he's pretty much been a dog in most other games. Lee Evans is in the same situation tomorrow night. Revis is likely going to shut down TO so Evans has the potential to get a lot of targets if Fitzpatrick looks for him.

The sneaky Philly WR play would be Brown(not saying it's a "good" play, just "sneaky."). Playing Maclin or Avant vs. that craptacular Falcon secondary isn't sneaky, it's just what you should be doing this week.

Brown may only catch 2 or 3 balls, but he may wind up housing one of them if he's running Jackson's routes. He also could wind up having no catches and 3 drops on 5 targets.

I don't understand how most of these are "sneaky". A lot of the WR's are WR3's and WR4's, and maybe a WR5 here or there. Certainly all of them are rostered. I guess they are "sneaky" depending on who is in your regular lineup and who you would start them over.

Also, there is a huge difference is trying to be "sneaky" when you can play one of these guys already knowing you have locked up your playoff spot as opposed to being in an all out war trying to hold your spot with 2 games to go.

I guess I am just saying that it takes some big :) :) to be "sneaky" at this time of year, unless you can afford to be a little wreckless.

Here are a few guys I think could help your 'sneaky' play at WR.

Mark Clayton- with an emphasis on covering D.Mason and the coaching staff wanting Flacco to not zone in on Mason all the time Clayton could see an uptick in production this week. He's been pretty inconsistant but G.B will want to focus on stopping Ray Rice as well which could leave Clayton with some good opportunities.

Kenny Britt-Seems like Vince Young's had a boost in his passing game with close to 400 yds. last week and Britt has become a big recipient of that and the guy Vince has been looking for.

Hakeem Nicks- If Manningham and Smith are the focus of the Cowboys coverage Hakeem could be the benefactor with less than stellar coverage on him and turn in a nice day with over 60 yds. and a score.

Antonio Bryant- He's only played in 8 games this year and doubt he's available but if he is he could have a decent day of production against the Panthers.

Bryant probably isn't available but the other 3 might give you what you're looking for.

**Longshot sneaky play- 49ers @Seattle- surely A.Smith's attention will be to Crabtree,V.Davis and Gore so it could open the door for Josh Morgan to be overlooked a little by Seattle and he could find the end zone with some average yardage

These are the two I like most (I just can't bring myself to trust Bryant). You and I both have posted that Clayton is in position to see a lot of targets this week if Woodson locks up on Mason. We saw last week what Clayton can do when Flacco targets him more. Unfortunately, we've spent the rest of the season pretty much seeing how worthless Clayton can be. The last time the Ravens were on Monday night, Clayton got 1 target and 0 catches - and that was against the Browns. You'd have to have some serious nads to start him this week. It could pay off but the guy has been a major disappointment more often than not.I really like Britt. He seems to be coming on, Young is playing better and the Colts can be beaten through the secondary. I just worry about whether Britt is ready to be counted on consistently (Young too for that matter).

Thanks everyone for your input!

I already touched on my specific problem, but I didn't want that to be the focus of the thread since I figured anyone hurting for a WR could potentially benefit from this thread. My particular issue is that since Bowe's suspension I have been trying to fit WR3-5 into a WR2 slot, so I'm looking for any players typically in those tiers that has an opportunity to outperform his tier do to match up, injury, etc.

Johnny Knox vs Stl. Forte is not getting it done this year. Cutler will challenge the worse passing defense in the league. Knox could return a kickoff TD as well. He almost did it last week vs Minn.

Lee Evans

Not sure if this counts, but he probably doesn't start in many leagues. TO will be covered by Revis. Fitz had a good connection to Evans before the coaching change.

Reggie Brown

He is an NFL quality WR and will see the field a lot given all the injuries. Not sure how Avant will handle getting the #2 CB.

Devin Thomas

Got 4 catches last week. NO is going to destroy them so they will pass all day. They have no run game. He also does kickoff returns now, so if you get points for return yards, NO figures to kickoff a lot.

I haven't paid much attention but does NO's kicker tend to hit the ball where it's returnable most of the time? Thomas is available in my league and projected to get decent points this week, so I was curious about picking him up just for that purpose.

Josh Morgan, but I just can't start him....
Yeah, I'd consider him a mid-sneaky play and it would be hard to start him unless you're in a league with 10-12 starters and use him as a flex play. Looking at you sig and team I'd have a hard time starting him too. If you start 3 wr's I'd roll with MSW, Harvin and Wallace might be more of a sure thing than Morgan. Kid's got talent and I think he's due for a big game which could be this week. Surely Gore,Davis and Crabtree will get looks from Smith before Morgan. If Alex Smith doesn't completely zone in on his big 3 and scans the field he's gonna find Morgan open and hopefully get him the ball. If he doesn't Morgan won't get much yardage but I still like him to score at least a redzone td. Wallace could also make for a sneaky play as the Raiders will surely concentrate on Ward and Holmes and that should leave Wallace a few decent opportunities for some yardage and a score. No doubt Pitts. is gonna run a lot against the Raiders but after getting beat by Baltimore they're pissed and they're gonna take out their anger on Oakland with points. I'm starting Wallace at flex in a yahoo league. So after seeing you roster in your sig I'm liking Wallace more than Morgan as a sneaky play this week.

Problem w/ this theory is that Chicago may only have 1 kickoff return attempt in the game.

No way. I know the Rams stink, but the Bears Def. is god awful. He will get plenty of returns.

They may have the worst pass defense in the league, but teams usually don't have to find out, given how bad their run D is. StL is alot like Cleveland in that way, and the Bears used Forte alot against Cleveland about 6 weeks back.

Problem here is, according to Fisher.......if Gage is healthy he gets the starting job back from Brit (Brit will "play", but Gage gets the start). http://blogs.tennessean.com/titans/2009/12...ns-to-practice/

Greg Jennings. He had a down week last week which means a lot of people are sick of starting him and being burned. That can only mean he'll bust loose for 7 catches for 130 yards and 2 TDs.

The Frenchman...Pierre Garcon
The Frenchman from Florida
Pierre Garçon born August 8, 1986 in West Palm Beach, Florida is a Haitian-American.The Haitian immigration to United States started with the exodus of most French settlers in Haiti. Florida has the largest percentage of Haitians residing within its borders. In 2000, Florida had 182,224 foreign-born Haitians, 43.5% of the total foreign born population from Haiti. That excludes the number of American born Haitians.

Thus, the nickname. :lmao:

Don't know how sneaky he is because I've had him rostered all year.

Josh Cribbs is gonna get about 7 returns this weekend.

I've got a 'win to get in' this week and I don't know if I can go back to him. Averages have to mean something when it comes down to these important late FF games. Seems very logical that he will blow up once I finally bench him in my biggest game, but I'm trying to picture if this game will be high scoring or he will be locked down by the Baltimore Def. NegativesJennings has been very inconsistent and a down right bust of an early pick WRPlaying a usually stout Baltimore DefenseMonday night game (no turning back)Crowded situation with Driver, Finley, Jones, Nelson, Grant, BJaxMaybe Weather?PositivesPlaying at homeThe talent is always thereKnown for big games with multiple scores and good yardageMay have to throw a lotAdvantage of a good passing O and RodgersI just don't know if Jennings can be trusted with so many options there.

Thanks for clearing that up. I still think I'll go with the African...Jeremy Maclin

Going way out on a limb, as I am also in need of a reliable WR#3. I picked up and inserted Josh Morgan in my lineup. I can be easily swayed to drop him with the right criticism. Of the receivers available, I liked his upside the best. Deciding factors:

1) He had 8 targets and 6 catches last week.

2) They are playing the weak Seattle defense.

3) Alex Smith and 49ers running the wide open spread offense that Bloom was talking about.
