Don't know about there, but here they actually advise us to get all of it done by 7am so the kids can use the sidewalks on the way to school and don't have to walk in the road and get run over by a bus.

ETA: I use a shovel though, don't have a snow-blower.

Completely depends on how much it snowed along with how much more it is probably going to snow.

But yes, it is acceptable. I just did it at 6:30 in the morning two days ago.

This isn't like mowing the lawn at 6am.

However, if it only snowed a couple inches and not much more on the way, then you are an idiot AND it wouldnt be acceptable.

I just watched a show, called bad neighbors, on dtv 285, when the guy running the snow blower got shot 7 times. But the neighbor went insane, he was like 82.

So which one was the bad neighbor :excited: :excited:

I just did my 80+ year old neighbor's driveway a couple days ago. He better not shoot me after that.

There is a legal requirement in most places to have your sidewalk cleared in 24-hours. If that is the best time for you, then go for it.

Well I voted no. I live in Phoenix and we don't have snow. I equated a snow blower to a leaf blower or some other lawn equipment. But I realize that's dumb and if you gotta remove the snow, then fire it up.

Snow blower is fine because you are clearing driveways and sidewalks. No lawn mowing before 8:30. One of the unwritten laws of suburbia. Right up there with parking across the street from a neighbors driveway or blocking mailboxes.

Damn right it's acceptable. This is a temporary apocalypse we're talking about here. All neighbor etiquette is off.

I'd do it at midnight if the storm was bad.

Sure it's ok as long as it's not under a certain number of inches (say 3). Anything under that....you're looking a bit like that jabroni using a leaf blower to get a dozen leaves off his lawn.

Why? Wouldn't it just get buried again before you had to go anywhere?
Is hard to clear 20" of snow, much easier to clear 10" twice.

But with 3+", if you have to go somewhere at 3 am, its OK to clear at 2 am. If you're clearing 3" at 6 am and go back to bed, you're a ####.

Where do you live?
Seriously?
No. I just wasted my time asking a question I had no interest in hearing the answer for. Carry on.

Pretty easy to spot the folks that have never lived anywhere with real snow, or have never had to try and clear a good sized driveway of a foot (or more) of wet snow.

Tip: prob shouldn't act like a subject matter expert on something you know absolutely nothing about

We got a couple of feet over 1 night on this weekend last year. You had to shovel/blow every few hours to keep up with it and not be stuck with too much to move. My neighbor's and I were out in the middle of the night with snowblowers.

It's not cosmetic like a lawn mower.

Can't agree with the arbitrary 3" cutoff. I've got a 75' concrete driveway that's got about a 30 degree slope. Back a couple cars over 2" of snow on the way out of the driveway and it packs it down making it almost impossible to get back up it after work if it snows any more. It has to be cleared before we leave.

Pretty good chance if you live somewhere that occasionally requires crazy hour snowblowing your neighbors do the same, and wouldnt care at all.

I hate even 1/2" of packed down driven on snow in my driveway. The cutoff is more for it being a shovelable amount where you don't have to wake your neighbors. With a 75' driveway, I'd give you a pass.

I can't even hear the neighbors running the snowblower considering the house is all closed up, because it's cold outside. Not the same as running a lawn mower at 7 am when people might have their windows open and there is no reason you can't do it later.

Speaking of which, I just bought a cordless electric snowblower and it's already one of my favorite things ever.
