Snowmageddon 2022 (1 Viewer)

Right now it seems for Philly the prediction is anywhere between 8" and 18"

I guess we find out with this 9 PM model?
Model runs:9 PM (NAM)

10:30 PM (GFS)

11 PM (GEM)

1 AM (EURO)
NAM just finished, way east with bulk of precip. Misses Philly completely, "only" 10" in NYC, BOS still gets buried. One of many models to run tonight.
GFS agrees with NAM for the most part. 6" in Philly, 10" NYC, BOS buried.

I'm a bit nervous about losing power and heat. I have a fireplace but not a ton of wood. My generator is still in the box in the garage. I gotta get on that. I'm at ground zero for big snow on this one it seems. I'm going to clear the bricks and make a giant street hockey rink in the yard on Tuesday for the neighborhood kids (and mine). Probably will also make a sledding hill down my front lawn to street with the snow blower. I Gotta get propane for the grill. Don't forget that peeps.

Fella on CBS 2 won't claim this will break the record of 27", but he won't say it won't either.

I'm seeing 3.5' storm surge, which won't flood me, but will make it set to the foundation. Debating if I can leave my car outside.

The ocean will make it to your foundation? That's pretty scary.

Not as scary as two years ago when the ocean was coming through the walls, through the crack in the front door (if I didn't have sand bags the door would have blown in and we would have had a total loss) and was two inches away from coming in through my air conditioner sleeve. Of twelve apartment buildings, mine was the only one that didn't get 3+ feet of water inside. Now we're in a bungalow with a 2.5' raised foundation, but we've given up about 4' of elevation since Sandy...so, 3.5' of surge floods outside, 4.5' of surge causes the pilot light to go out, 5.5' of surge means water's at the door. I see 3.5' of surge, so will stay put, but if that goes up another foot, I'm begging an invite to some FBG chateau.

Slight moaning. Going to get 20-30" (not a misprint) where I am and probably lose power in these conditions from the wind and weight of the snow.

Crossing fingers, hoping for the best. Peace.

Meteorologists still saying to ignore the NAM after 24hr that's its pulling the storm too far east and that the euro run will hold true.
It does have a strange solution with 3 low pressure areas depicted off shore instead of one. Could be incorrect. Euro has had remarkable run to run consistency showing the massive amounts so tonight's run will be interesting. One thing for certain, this type of east coast storm, "Miller B", is probably the toughest to correctly computer model and human forecast.
From what I'm reading the euro still saying 10-18 for philly. Will be interesting to see what it does with all the different models saying different things. Boston still gets buried no matter who is right. Just drove in to work and was expecting snow on the ground and there was nothing except light flurries.

Weatherboy also lowered totals and thats my goto source. Still 18-24 by me in NY though.

I wish I had one. Good luck. Not to mention, with us in R.I. its one of those out of the fireplace into the fire situations.

As I suspected overnight the NAM corrected it's solution and came in with a consolidated and therefore stronger low placement. Euro made a slight tick down on amounts but both agree with a foot in Philly, 18" in NYC and BOS destroyed. Out here west of Philly, I hope to get 6". Winds will be intense into Wednesday and temps are going to be brutal following the storm's passage this week.

What do you mean BOS destroyed? The news said 2 feet + of snow.

This stuff this week might set up a short term block that might finally get the snow lovers in the south some significant snow. Getting the sleds ready!

Warm up for what's to come Sunday

HISTORIC BLIZZARD!!!!! YOUVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS!!!!! ITS GOING TO SNOW!&!!@!@!@!@!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still not backing off this historical nonsense even though the models keep dropping. NYC now 12-18. Pretty sure I've seen those measurements at least a dozens times in the last 30 years. HISTORIC!!!!

It is already snowing by me. Ocean County, NJ.
We've had flurries up in Hunterdon Co. NJ since late last night...When I got up at 6, it was a pretty heavy blowing snow. Back to flurries for now. My office, and most schools, are set up for a noon dismissal. I'm planning on working from home tomorrow too...Unless this Uberstorm really disappoints.

I was in Home Depot yesterday getting some plumbing supplies for our powder room renovation, and was as usual amazed at the crap people buy before snow storms. They were sold out of shovels and snow blowers. I've always wondered if there really were THAT many people who didn't have those before that suddenly needed them. It doesn't seem like a snow storm should make you go buy another shovel if you survived last winter.

The bags of Icy Melt were selling like hot cakes at $19 a bag for that sodium chloride stuff. I was shocked. I actually needed a bag, and asked the guy if they had a bag of just "regular old cheap salt." He laughed, and pointed me to the back of the gardening section and said, "$9 for 40 lbs. We've got pallets full back there. Works just as well as what we have up front, but you're the first person today who hasn't loaded up their cart with that stuff in the fancy bag."

Welcome to the media in 2015. If it isn't sensational, you won't pay attention.

It really is awesome when the media gets people fired up like this and the full blown stupid comes out. People in the super market buying their doomsday kits. I'm not talking a few bottles of water and some batteries, but filling their carts with enough supplies to last 3 months.

I always laugh at the people who buy Eggs, Bread, and Milk. Why those three things? I don't eat a dozen eggs in a week normally. Milk usually lasts until it expires. Bread I get if you eat a lot of sandwiches...Why not just buy a bunch of canned soup? If it's really doomsday and you end up stranded in a house with no power, you're not going to die if you don't have your omelete. You're just going to eat to survive.

French toast for the win...

I'm just glad I'm up in the Poconos where we don't get snowfalls like this. You people that live out in the NYC area are crazy.

Supposed to connect through Philly for my flight to DFW today. Really don't want to get on the plane here if the connection in Philly (2pm) is going to get cancelled. Report I saw said Philly was only supposed to get 1-2 inches through midnight though...any Philly guys that can confirm that? US Airways is the only airline that hasn't cancelled a ton of flights through PHL today, so both my flights still show as 'on-time' currently.

There better be 5 feet of snow with all the press this one is getting. I realize there are a lot of people living on the east coast, but geez you'd think nobody knew it was winter.

Light snow until tonight
