Snowmageddon 2022 (1 Viewer)

A few hours ago we were getting 10+ inches of snow in Philly. Weather.com has us at about 1 - 3 overnight and maybe another inch tomorrow. ??

Just did my first shoveling. Looked like a good 4-6 inches already out there, and I understand it's supposed to get a bunch worse.
Do you have enough bagels?
They freeze well.

Curious what Otis' bagel place is, though. Not nearly the number of really good places as even 10-15 years ago.
I've got a killer and unassuming spot on Jericho Tpke.

May have to make a run in the morning.
A&S bagel on Hempstead Tpke, FTW

Something is decidedly effed up with the weather this winter. Nebraska is usually brutal during the winter and we had high 50s today. East Coast going to get 3 feet of snow. Not complaining, but things are all out of whack.

:lmao: Love the "I don't see it now so it's not coming!!" crowd. May not be the end of the world scene some might have painted it to be but it's far from over.

This image sums it up... They've said "historic blizzard" 7x in the last 9 minutes... They're talking about the "nearly impossible" job the NYC Sanitation Dept will have.

As much as I rip on TWC, I owe them for an early day out of the office today, a day off tomorrow, and we'll prob have to deal with only 6 inches in NYC and no more than 12 in L.I., if that.

MA contracts out some of the snow and ice removal. A lot of landscaping companies and people who own the right equipment make good money every time we have a big storm.

Thunder Snow is the name of my new band.
That's exactly what I was thinking. :lmao:

In all seriousness, I hope the media is hoisted upon its own petard. But this is nothing new. It's been going on for at least a decade or more. I hope we get six-twelve, and I can manage the house. That would be nice.

Curious what other NY/NJ folks are seeing locally?

Flurries in Brooklyn Heights, plows coming by every 10 minutes so the roads are money, and it doesn't look like any wind whatsoever. Prob a total of 3-4 inches here.

It appears:

NY/NJ (west of Long Island) looking at 5-10 inches depending on location, L.I. prob between 10-15.

New England12-24, depending on location.

Philly basically nothing.

I'm always on the fence when it comes to shoveling. Do multiple passes or wait until the worst is over and do one big one?
It depends. If the snow is dry and powdery then you can do fewer passes. If it is the heavy stuff then more passes will be easier on your body.
I broke down and did a pass. About half a foot, mostly from drifting, very dry and powdery. I wish I was going skiing tomorrow! I dumped some ice melt out and I have clear walks and stairs. We will see what the night has in store.

you know the heavy #### isn't supposed to start until later
This is TWC blend of 3 models at this point.
Look at you
:bowtie:

I'm the perfect example of why they broadcast these crazy headlines like "historic event"...

I'm glued to the TV like such a sucker.

It's funny watching the CNN broadcast holding firm to this. Coop is out there on what looks like a balmy evening talking about a blizzard. He and Erin Burnett may as well be out there drinking Coronoas. Then Don Lemon just drove by in the "Blizzardmobile." It looks like a scene from Baywatch. All the while, that lunatic Chad Meyers is out there trying desperately to keep up appearances by talking about the major snow event in Boston.

They're all so embarrassing.

I actually bought my landscaper a plow today when he told me he had 40 accounts and a snowblower. He had a monster truck with no plow. He will pay me back from just this storm no doubt.

They're seriously calling it that. In quotes and everything. I just can't.

Now they're just trying to make a really big deal out of the fact that "you have NO idea, these streets are usually REEALLY busy this time of night. You farmers, you just don't know. So the fact that it's so quiet out there? This is a BIG deal. Pay no mind to the lack of snow."

The only thing historic about tonight is that it could be the most embarrassing night CNN has ever had.

Embarrassing is the right word. I'm pretty happy I still have power and can watch the second half of Celts-Jazz. I love Marcus Smart!

The heavy snow starts in Boston around midnight. Last chance for this to be "historic" before it blows out to sea in record speed.
