So Devery played 20 more snaps than Moore? (1 Viewer)

Why would Devery play 20 more snaps than Moore? Where are the Moore owners who said he was healthy? Is it time to sell Moore? Obviously, no need to overreact, its Week 1, but there has to be an answer why Moore couldn't get on the field more than 36% of the snaps and saw less snaps than Henderson and Meachem.

Is he still injured folks or just getting back into game shape?

Well, one reason is that Moore is the backup to Colston, whereas Henderson starts opposite Colston. With Colston fully healthy this year, Colston is going to be getting more snaps than he did last year during the period both he and Moore were playing.

Never understood why folks thought Moore would have better numbers than Henderson this year.

Well, one reason is that in the final five games of 2008, when all three receivers were presumably healthy, the targets broke down like this:Colston 56 (four 12s and one 8)Moore 35 (low of 5, high of 10)Henderson 11 (two 1s, a 2 and two 3s)So the real question to me is what has changed for Henderson to be considered the #2 WR in New Orleans? Is the Week 1 snaps and targets simply a function of the relative health of the two players, the scheme/matchup against Detroit, or is it the new status quo?

I snatched Henderson off my WW this morning. If he is indeed the number 2 WR in NO, he'll have crazy value. I'll hold off starting him against Philly though, who probably has the best secondary in football.

That's what I'm guessing....its only Tuesday... I'm looking forward to the other games.

A lot of people outside of N.O. thought that Moore was a starting WR in that offense ... as in Colston on one side and Moore on the other. That's not the case ... without Colston's injury, Moore would have been way less valuable in 2008 as FFB WR.Moore is a butt-busting coaches' favorite, though ... if anyone else in the WR corps is dinged, Moore can deliver.

The Pitt and Indy games are up now. Great find.

Was Colston even targeted after the 1st qaurter? Seems like Brees forgot he was there. NoLa will be tough unless you own Brees all of NoLa's offensive players will be either hero's or goats! 3 headed RB monster ( Bush , Bell , Thomas ) and a 5 headed WR monster ( Shockey , Moore, Colston , Henderson , Meecham ). Too manay options for a offense that loves to spread it around.

Only Colston will be at all consistent.

I'm still not convinced that Devery Henderson is a true #2, in the way Mark Clayton & Mark Duper were 1-2 for the mid-80s Dolphins. I can say that the Saints like what Henderson can do (stretch the field) and have been very patient with his development -- some other teams may have cut bait with Henderson by now.Same with Robert Meachem. Meachem was a 1st-rounder, and Devery was a second -- so there's been some incentive to let these guys develop. I think the Saints will be reaping the rewards of this patience for some time.

Awesome website, thanks for posting it. Looks like all but 4 of Moores snaps came with Henderson ON the field, either as a 3rd receiver or spelling Colston. On the 4 snaps where Henderson was off the field, Moore was 3rd with Meacham.

Should we take that to mean that Moore only played in 3 WR sets whereas Devery and Meachem split time as the #2 recriver alongside Colston?

Cool link.

Another observation: the disparity in playing time between Joseph Addai and Donald Brown was larger than the disparity between Michael Turner and Jerious Norwood.

Moore was on for 3 snaps with Henderson in 2 WR sets. All his others were in 3WR sets. Meacham was on the field for the last nine snaps as the lone WR while they were pounding Mike Bell so his snaps maybe inflated from what we'll see going forward.

I noticed that too! Im interested to see the Deangelo / Stewart breakdown...
