So, Do We Still Get a Hard Copy of the Magazine? (1 Viewer)

Hugonel

Sorry, I am probably just missing the easy answer. But the rag is pretty handy to have for stats, etc.

So I sent in my yearly fee and am wondering if I'll get it or do I have to print it off?

Thanks,

Hugonel

If the bottom line ABSOLUTELY demanded it then I guess I can live with it. But to share the mag with the whole unpaying universe on line and then not get a hard copy when you do pay is a bit tough to swallow.

I now will probably go buy a hard copy magazine from another source so I don't have to selectively print off a bunch of information for my draft.

That said, where's the PDF version? I see the on line version only.

It's on the 'articles' page. You can download the whole thing or do it by section.

Why would they go through the trouble of printing a magazine to give away when it obviously wasn't cost-effective to print one to sell?

A hardcopy of the mag has never been part of the site subscription, why did you think it was?

Quite a bit of misinformation going on here. Here's attempting to set the record straight.

1. The magazine was always a separate purchase. You could buy it at you local Barnes and Nobles or from us, but it was never part of the subscription.

2. We have not made money selling the magazine in any year since it's inception. We are glad people liked it, but it was and would likely always be a loss leader for us. The ability to sell magazine ads, increased printing costs, lower distribution channels all led to us discontinuing it this year.

3. We decided to do a "digital" magazine though (and the associated CD) as a promotion for the Street Teamers to give away to tell people about what we are doing at Footballguys. Street Teamers and staff distributed 150,000 CDs to radio stations, sports bars and the general public this offseason.

4. Because we were giving the magazine free to lots of people that never even heard of us, it seemed like we should also reward the people that have been loyal to us. We opted to make the magazine FREE to everyone that visited the website.

5. We have not made a decison yet to what we will do in 2010. It's doubtful though that they dynamics of the printing/distribution industry can change enough to all of a sudden make printing a magazine a profitable venture for us. Our intermediate goal is to partner with a large distribution chain like Barnes and Nobles, Hooters, Best Buy, etc and have CDs widely distributed in 2010.

I am a returning 2nd year subscriber. I loved the website last year, and got a subscription early to save a few bucks. I understand the decision to save $ on the print version, but I would still like to cast my votes...

1) I love the website and the forums, etc... hands down best site out there.

2) I also love print to hold in my hand, and having a few mags at draft day is key, but I will just print it out at home or work (likely work - :goodposting: ) and use it that way.

3) Glad it is free, thanks football guys.

Pyro boy.

Honestly I used to buy 3~5 mags but I would rather buy just this one for more. I would rather pay $9.99 or so on one mag I trust than $5~7 on a couple others to try and capture a fraction of the content. Plus I was looking forward to finding a golden ticket in mine this year for the first time. I think I bought 2 rags this year and didn't even bother reading them. I perused through thoughtless drivel and then just used my subscriber DD cheatsheets.

I think you are mistaken. I think it has been part of the subscription in the past, but I, of course, may the be one mistaken. Remember buying early and looking for the golden tickets?

I know, I'm early. But have you decided anything here? I'd really like to see the mag but understand if it's not cost effective. Personally, I think the advertising may be worth it even if you don't make money directly on the mag, but I'm an Army Lawyer, what do I know about drumming up business?
