Drugs, paraphernalia and jewelry were found in a man's rectum during an X-ray at York Hospital, according to a Southwestern Regional Police news release.
Christopher Scheller, 18, of no fixed address, was taken to the hospital on Dec. 1 after he struck a tree near Pine Drive in Heidelberg Township, according to the release. The responding officer found that Scheller may have been intoxicated and went to York Hospital to meet with him, the release states.
When medical staff performed an X-ray on Scheller, they found an abnormality in his rectum, the release states. Scheller reportedly did not want the object removed, but eventually consented.
Found in his rectum were a bag of synthetic marijuana, a wrench socket used for smoking, four bracelets, four necklaces and 11 rings, according to police reports.
Police determined the items to be stolen from a Heidelberg Township residence. Scheller reportedly concealed the stolen items in his body as the officer was approaching the scene of the crash, the release states.
Scheller faces several charges including DUI, theft and receiving stolen property, according to the release. Charges were reportedly filed at District Judge Tom Reilly's office. Scheller is being held at York County Prison on unrelated charges, the release states.
