And you can't learn or even try to? Really? You do understand that filing taxes are designed for most normal people who don't have close to your genius IQ.I don't know anything about finances and it's intimidating to people born poor.4 minutes ago, squistion said:

Sit in on an AA meeting where there are like 100 people. No one will even know you're there. Just sit and listen.I need to get somewhat more mentally stable before joining a group. Right now I only feel animosity towards other people so sharing my feelings in a group is not something I'm going to do

Dude, I'm an accountant andn the instructions are ####!That doesn't get to the root problems. Finding a group might help.
It's as "first step" as it gets. If you can't even do that...^^more good advice^^
and it don't cost nothin
I can't get in to my finances but assure you there are several extremely good reasons why I could not file taxes. It would have greatly hurt me. Let's drop the subject.I'm an accountant. There's this thing thing called an Income Tax Credit that will actually credit tax liability and may result in cash back But you have to file.
Maybe I'm just not emotionally capable of a group setting. It's as "first step" as it gets. If you can't even do that...

Ive been reading about this for weeks. You want me to just go to a group session?
You can't walk into a room of 100+ people and sit in the corner somewhere for a few minutes? You work in a restaurant.Maybe I'm just not emotionally capable of a group setting.
It doesn't go away. Deal with it now!I can't get in to my finances but assure you there are several extremely good reasons why I could not file taxes. It would have greatly hurt me. Let's drop the subject.
How is that comparable? You can't walk into a room of 100+ people and sit in the corner somewhere for a few minutes? You work in a restaurant.
Guys, i think you should leave Rok alone and not push him right now. That link he provided is some scary ####. Whether his thoughts are real or not doesnt matter. Im not taking that chance and having him harm himself. i think we should all back out of this thread and encourage him to follow Quint's excellent advice.
As I recall from a thread over 6 months back, he thinks that the US income tax is unconstitutional and that may be one of the several extremely good reasons why I could not file taxes and may be the actual reason why he wants to drop the subject, not this curious claim that he is from a poor background and filing taxes is too intimidating and complicated for him to figure out.It doesn't go away. Sounds like he owes them for something. It's become a come to Jesus moment. A lein on a bank account? They are really flexible. Work out a schedule to repay. I owe about 8k on a student loan. Probably over 20k to social security. Probably 3K to SNAP and whatever I'm getting from TX unemployment to cover the difference because I'm not making much to survive on at my new job. Not to mention Obamacare penalties.Altogether that's all going to be almost 50k in debt soon and it's only a matter of time before they seize what little money I do have and I'll be back on the streets and I have no idea how to fix this situation.I'm not a tax accountant, but I helped food service friemds with their tax returrns, as well as my own
. I'm a government contracts and not for profit guy.and have been involved in system conversions.
Why would I talk to someone that doesn't know me? What good is that going to do for someone disconnected from the world?

I wasn't 1099. I was collecting SSI and didn't report my income for 2 years while working because without the check and SNAP (food stamps) I wouldn't have been able to afford to live in NYC.The fact that you owe $20k to SS suggests that you were a 1099 employee...that you do owe. Student loans are a lender issue. Don't know what SNAP is and can't comment Same with Texas Unemployment laws are but if you're working now you should coordinare withn them. Be thankful that you're young and the Obamacare penalties that you are exposed to are anywhere near the premiums you would be paying now. I paid the penalty
I don't have anyone in real life. No friends or family.CurlyNight said:No one here knows truly what's going on with you. Not even sure you do sometimes. You at the very least need direction if not therapy/meds to get your life going in the right direction. There are people who are life coaches for when people are stuck. When their lives are in a shamble they get with these life coaches and they help them prioritise and get them out of the ditch they are stuck in. Doing nothing but hang on here on all your spare time is never going to help you. Entertaining people here is not life. You ask for help, we give you all the advice we can, but then you come back with another title change and off you go again. Round and round. The people here who are egging you on are not your friends. They are here killing time.
Who do you have to talk to in real life? If you don't have a close confidant/friend then talk to someone who is trained to know how to help you. You're not going to know someone until you meet the person. People on hotlines are trained to help and advise you on your local resources. Your choice. Running off to the UK isn't going to change a thing. As they say, wherever you go, there you are. Only thing that changes is your physical location.
While many people here do care it does get tiring trying to get you to see what you are doing to yourself. We all have our ####, even those whose life sounds just fine have their fair share. That's life. Only you can help yourself and we've already given you a bunch of resources, some you don't need insurance or $ like NAMI that I mentioned. Your yes buts are very tiring. I can't read this thread. I usually get notified of something but I (we) can't keep going round and round. If you ever decide to really be serious about getting help then let us know.
I'm pretty sure it will be the usual "you have everything to live for" stuff that they use to talk people off ledges. I want to see a doctor that I can tell my history to and perhaps get an accurate diagnosis eventually. Or medication that will prevent me from imploding in my own head.they are trained professionals. they will listen, and offer advice as necessary.
and i don't want to come of like a jerk here, but if you made an appointment to see a psychiatrist tomorrow, that person wouldn't know you either. they would learn about you and your specific situation the same way the person answering that phone would learn about you. they are there to help.
please. help yourself.
i wish you all the best, and hope for you to succeed.
Then it becomes even more important for you to create you own support group. If you attend NAMI for example you don't need to speak. But you can perhaps make connections, get direction from someone there. You have to start somewhere sometime..I don't have anyone in real life. No friends or family.
I'm afraid and I feel like I'm not ready to relate in a group setting. I'm frustrated that I can't actually see a doctor in this healthcare system. I have trouble understanding these sites. Can the suicide hotline point me towards a program for psychiatric treatment?I haven't delved into this site, but it may help you find something near you..

The operators won't have a specific name and # for you. They are good at talking you off the ledge. I'm not religious. Ive been depressed, antisocial and constantly thinking of suicide my entire life. Now I'm starting to have thoughts of violence that scare me. I need to see a real doctor 1 on 1 and look in to serious medication . You don't get that in group counseling.
This country sucks and you can't get medical help when you need it.
Two things here, the second being the most important...I'm a danger to myself so I'm pretty sure I need a real doctor. I probably need medication so I don't have to medicate myself.
and if it doesn't help I still have no options for actually seeing a real doctor

Are you suggesting I commit myself for extended treatment? Two things here, the second being the most important...
On your first quote, you don't have to be religious to utilize services provided by many churches. The churches have their own reasons for tying to help those in need, regardless of your beliefs at the time.
Of more immediate importance, and I know this from unfortunate experience with loved ones, if you really believe you are a danger to yourself, you can see a professional psychiatrist for free. Go into the nearest ER, tell them you are depressed and considering suicide. Tell them about the "ideation" behavior you are exhibiting, like linking to methods here in this thread. You are likely to be admitted and will receive professional care regardless of your funding or lack thereof. Be aware that if you go this route, you should accept the admission voluntarily when offered. No need to give reason to consider involuntary admission.
Medical records being confidential, no one else need know about this hospitalization, and you can worry about dealing with any costs later when you've gotten the treatment you believe that you need.
I'm suggesting you commit yourself for as much or as little treatment as you need. Are you suggesting I commit myself for extended treatment?
I have committed myself before this exact reason a few years ago. I spent several days in a psychiatric ward. It was a horrible experience. Nothing to occupy our minds every day. Each only had a few minutes each day with a doctor and counseler that did little to nothing to help us. Inadequate food. I felt like a refugee or something with the lack of supplies and intense boredom. I will never do that again voluntarily.I'm suggesting you commit yourself for as much or as little treatment as you need.
You have said you want to see a professional psychiatrist but cannot afford it. You have said you are a danger to yourself, but want help. Not being doctors, it's unlikely you or I have any way of reasonably assessing how long or how quick of a treatment might be required.
Step one is getting the help that you want and need. Let the professionals work with you to determine what you need and how to obtain it. It's a voluntary commitment so they are going to get you counselling and medical help and work with you on developing a treatment plan. Trust their judgment, as they have likely seen people with your symptoms many times and can help.
The fact that you want to get help, and have things you want to live for (girlfriend, helping others) will only help with your recovery. It may well be as simple as getting you on the right medication. Or perhaps it will take some time, trial and error, to find the right one. Maybe ongoing therapy of some sort is going to be part of the answer. But help is available, and you owe it to yourself to at least try getting it.
Very unfortunate. I know quality of care varies from place to place, but what you are describing is well below the standards of care my relative received.I have committed myself before this exact reason a few years ago. I want to be able to see a psychiatrist once a week to try to get to the root of my problems and try some treatment options. It seems impossible in this country.
This was in NY when I had Medicaid. Now with no health coverage how could I possibly get better care?Very unfortunate. I know quality of care varies from place to place, but what you are describing is well below the standards of care my relative received.
I can't speak to specific facilities in your area, but perhaps seek out a different hospital. There are in most places multiple companies, and some non-profits running medical services, and you could well have a better experience elsewhere.
In our case, on-going counselling and regular psychiatric followups were part of the provided services. Imhope you can find something comparable.
You may need to start with a therapist first. She/he would get a good idea of what's going on with you. If meds seems to be in order, they can send you to a clinic where you can get what you need. Here's a couple of sites I found. Need to go to bed soon but you can start by calling around in the am. Get the ball rolling. Just getting going in a positive direction should help some with your mood.Irving , TX
Location matters. Some health systems are just better than others. (In my experience, care in the Northern Virginia area was inferior to that in Pittsburgh, even with the same health plan.) So better care could simply be a consequence of the Irving system being superior, or less overloaded, or who knows? This was in NY when I had Medicaid. Now with no health coverage how could I possibly get better care?
Nobody here knows you either. You don't have a problem talking to them. CALL THE NUMBER!Why would I talk to someone that doesn't know me? What good is that going to do for someone disconnected from the world?
That would be pointless if they have no information for help resources. Their psychology training won't have any effect on me and probably make me feel worse because I know it's BS.Nobody here knows you either. You don't have a problem talking to them. CALL THE NUMBER!
Will it cost me nothing or will I have to pay a premium and deductibles when I use it?Obamacare will cost you nothing. You could sign up this week because you've had a life status change. You don't need to have filed a tax return. Tell them you expect your income for the year to be around $18,000. Your premium should be peanuts. I would suggest using an agent rather than the Marketplace hotline.
