So, I stayed 13 hotel nights without maid service. (1 Viewer)

What's the point of staying in a hotel if you aren't going to crank the A/C down to 50 degrees, piss on the floor, jizz on the curtains, and spill coffee all over the place? I do make sure to get every single towel and wash rag in the place dirty every day so that they have to give me new ones.

I do get grossed out at the thought of staying at a hotel and some guy the night before jizzing on the same bed I am now sleeping on. But I'm also far too lazy to bring sheets.

Shower sandals are a good idea though.
You do realize they change the sheets right?
Not the bed spread
I usually take the bedspread and fold it up, and place it at the foot of the bed on the floor. Then I wash my hands. I stayed at a Days Inn in some Louisiana ####hole that was so nasty, I didn't want my dogs to walk on the floor. There was a hand print on the wall that looked pretty fresh, we kept the dogs on the bed and touched almost nothing in the room. The place was on our route, but I haven't stayed in a Days Inn since. Next three nights we stayed in the Ritz Carlton in NOLA, so my woman almost forgave me for the Days Inn. ALMOST.
I had a similar experience, but even worse, because our bed was all full of dog hair.

Not sure if anyone mentioned the following or not but the OP seems pretty nasty. Changing sheets doesn't stop what is "in" the bed or "chemically" on the bed either. 13 nights in a hotel room without it being cleaned... yuck. Flip flops in a hotel shower...

If I have valuables in the room, maybe I'll leave the do not disturb up for like 2 days and then have the maid come on a day where I take them with me. If you have a nice watch, cash, or even a few pairs of expensive sunglasses, you basically have no outs if they disappear. With that being said, 13 days is absurd, bringing your own sheets is even more absurd.

Not sure about you 6 figure earners, but when we travel, we bring our own sheets and immediately drop the do not disturb sign. I have heard many stories about things disappearing from rooms. We just made 13 nites without turndown. Also, my wife showers with her flip flops on. Are we uber paranoid or do you all have the same concerns? :hot:
You guys must be a barrel of laughs.

be sure to pass this idea along to Dentist as a way to avoid having to tip the housekeeping staff.

I get wierded out when I'm about to jizz on the bed that some guy jizzed on the night before. Doesn't stop me though. :oldunsure:
Jizz on the bed Eskimo Brothers is my favorite type of Eskimo Brothers

Being paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get you. There are some nasty stuff that happens in hotels and it costs money to properly clean without taking short cuts- so yea, you won't get any static from me for bringing your own sheets or showering with flip flops.

I park my car in the parking lot of a hotel with a free continental breakfast, sleep in the back seat and enjoy a delicious meal in the morning. A pool is an added bonus so I can bathe.

No room safe?

is this a bad time to mention I also wipe down my entire plane seating area with a disinfectant wipe? headrest, armrest, you name it. I just am of the opinion that most people are disgusting animals. seems simple enough. this is the same theory as why I don't rent out my villa....don't think I can handle someone sleeping in my bed.

They do after a couple stays. It gets washed at least a few times a month.
I take the bedspread and open it all the way and spead it out on the floor. Then I drop trou and write my name in urine on the bedspread. Then I roll it up and run outside and throw it over the balcony in the atrium and shout "PEE PEE PARACHUTE!!! PEE PEE PARACHUTE!!!" then everyone laughs and I get highfives.

I always drop the DND sign for the entire stay, but bring your own sheet :tinfoilhat:
Me too. How messy can the room get? I don't need anybody in there for a few days. 13 days? :yuck:Also, Hampton Inn's are my favorite value hotel on the road. They wash the comforters for every new guest. Best beds, linens and towels. You can tell they do it too. Well worth the money.

Somewhat skeptical of room safes... I mean I have left some valuables in them & will prob continue to do so, but I've also read reviews on Tripadvisor about people who have had items stolen... I'm not a conspiracy theory guy, but I get paranoid here and there.

They're typically electrical and the code is reset every time you open one.

Hmm.

They have some way to get in them in case of some emergency. If someone was found dead the police are going to want to have to see whats in the safe without going through too much trouble, or maybe a guest is unable to remove the items for whatever reason and management has to have the safe ready for the next guest.

Management has to have access. I wouldnt trust them.

Can you really just walk in to a hotel/motel and start eating breakfast? Will anyone check if you are a guest?

I feel like im missing out on free chow

We always do the DND. I like the flip flops in the shower idea. May need to start bringing my own pillowcase too.

Under no circumstances do we even touch the remote.

I have to travel to some weird places at times for work, so I always pack a silk sleeping bag liner like this:

http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/66539?page=sea-to-summit-silk-sleeping-bag-liner-traveler

I've taken to using it even in hotels, not sure why - maybe bedbug fear, maybe jizz fear, maybe because it helps me regulate my temperature well... whatever. I use it now.

I've never really liked for room service to change my linens - it always seems a bit wasteful to me. I go a week without swapping out a towel or my sheets at home.

I seem to remember a funny story over at :e: about the reasons you might not want to touch the remote.

There is a Residence Inn near me that I use for co-workers when they come into town. It has a full breakfast, great coffee and free wifi. I work out of my house and the area around me still has a good amount of power lines above ground. We've lost power a decent amount and I started going there for the internet. That led to coffe and eventually breakfast. I've gone a couple of times in the past year even when I did have power.
