Sure, in the same way Andre Woodson or Rodrique Wright were before any scouts started formally evaluating him.rom the pre-draft process, it became fairly clear that based on the standards used to measure such things, Rolle potentially lacks the necessary speed and agility to play safety in the NFL.Wasn't Myron Rolle projcted to be a high 1st round pick if he had decided to declare for the draft instead of go for the Rhodes? He could potentially be the steal of the draft if he drops down to the 3rd or 4th round.
If H-backs or FBs, etc were important or were graded 1st round talent.Tebow is a great player....works hard....leader...etc....but he does not have 1st round QB talent....not even close. Give me Dan Lefevor over him any day of the week.Tebow might not have your prototypical NFL QB skill set but he's definitely got 1st round talent.
What do you consider talent? So because Tebow has an unorthodox throwing motion and played in the spread offense, suddenly he's not talented? If H-backs or FBs, etc were important or were graded 1st round talent.Tebow is a great player....works hard....leader...etc....but he does not have 1st round QB talent....not even close. The difference that's easy to articulate is that Tebow is "dedicated to the game" while Rolle's life-changing opportunities are seen as a potential distraction that will keep him from being the dedicated to football. Not what I believe, but what others do. If Tebow were a TE or FB, he'd be a 3rd or 4th round pick if just judging athleticism. The other difference is that Tim Tebow (not his fault and something to admire actually) is what a lot of America wants to sell itself as being. Myron Rolle is admired, but not in the same way and not as much by what our society covets. If H-backs or FBs, etc were important or were graded 1st round talent.Tebow is a great player....works hard....leader...etc....but he does not have 1st round QB talent....not even close. It takes some nuts to pop off like that about the Broncos when you're a Chefs fan. Kudos.i'm sure McFool will jump to the top of the 2nd to draft him. nothing like drafting a team full of "want to" guys that just aren't that good.
This. The guy was a beast and playmaker in college. He has a strong arm, good athleticisim, and a lot of tape of beating psuedo NFL SEC Ds.He has first round talent, and unlike most of the first rounders did more than just show up and look pretty at the combine.Tebow might not have your prototypical NFL QB skill set but he's definitely got 1st round talent.
scouts obviously know everything. How much time do we have to talk about when 'talented' players such as Drew Brees were taken in rd 2 or later.Sure, in the same way Andre Woodson or Rodrique Wright were before any scouts started formally evaluating him.rom the pre-draft process, it became fairly clear that based on the standards used to measure such things, Rolle potentially lacks the necessary speed and agility to play safety in the NFL.Wasn't Myron Rolle projcted to be a high 1st round pick if he had decided to declare for the draft instead of go for the Rhodes? The presumption in the OP is flawed. Rolle's character will help him get draft earlier...he'll like be a round 2-4 pick, instead of a 5-7 were he just being evaluated on talent alone.
I think in both of the above posts you could say the same exact things about Rolle.This.The guy was a beast and playmaker in college. Rolle's biggest drawback is that he's slow for his position. Tebow on the otherhand probably has top 5 athletic ability at his position.I think in both of the above posts you could say the same exact things about Rolle.This.The guy was a beast and playmaker in college. The reason he isn't going to be a 1st round talented QB...has to do with his release....it's long. That means that defenders have longer to react and will be intercepted much more at the next level(see Byron Leftwich).Tebow isn't overly tall 6'2....but also has short arm length 31.6". Compare that to Bradford(who is 6'4 already) 34.29" and Clausen(who is 6'2 as well) 36" arms. What does that mean....balls batted down or up at the LOS. He already doesn't have a great throwing motion...add in that he isn't 6'4 or taller and has short arms=trouble getting the ball to his recievers.Tebow isn't great at making reads and b/c so he takes off to run too early. He locks onto his primary target too often. Needs to learn progression, reading coverages, etc. If you think he can learn that b/c of smarts....he scored a below average Wonderlic at 22(bradford scored a 36).He also doesn't have great accuracy and has poor footwork...throwing off balance, over-striding, or stepping to his receivers. He also has trouble anticipating.Tebow has a ton of work to do....I just don't see it at the NFL level for him....one of the greatest college football players of all time....NFL not so much. What do you consider talent? I sure haven't heard many claim Tebow was too small. Geez. Most the stuff you mentioned could be worked on and improved. My only point was, that Tebow has loads of talent. None of the GMs want players who are smarter than they are.
Sportscience said Tebow shaved off 60 microseconds from him old release to something like .530 seconds.benson_will_lead_the_way said:The reason he isn't going to be a 1st round talented QB...has to do with his release....it's long. Yeah, and him getting blown up by his own teammate (Major Wright) regluarly would have toughened him up a good deal more too.Rolle's Draft party is set for tomorrow... all the info is that he is not going to be selected tonight.Going to FSU was a bad choice .. the timing was not right for him and the team. Very young secondary that depended on him to pick up thier slack .. even a a Frosh. Left him exposed a lot of times. Silently he is still kicking himself for not going to Florida ...him playing with Tebow on a National Championship team would have made his on field career seem worl'ds better. and imagine the off field campain .. Tebow and Rolle would look like a future Presidential ballot.
I'd take him over a clueless safety like Mays.got_nugs said:scouts obviously know everything. Rolle is every bit as talented as the 2nd/3rd rd pick that is used to take him.
God didn't bless me with a lot. But he did bless me with plenty of those.scrumptrulescent said:It takes some nuts to pop off like that about the Broncos when you're a Chefs fan. Kudos.OMG! I'm not going to turn this into a political/religious discussion but it says a lot about us if what we would rather be is an over achieving jock then a kid that while being a great athlete is also highly intelligent and takes being a student athlete to a new level and hopes to be a brain surgeon after football.Matt Waldman said:The other difference is that Tim Tebow (not his fault and something to admire actually) is what a lot of America wants to sell itself as being. You could say that about any prospect...I'm sure Reggie Bush could be a great RB if he ran inside and would finish off runs...will he???

How is it undeniable??? Pretty sure I made lots of good points in there.

Welcome to America. St Louis Public Schools are trying to cut 500 jobs to save $34 million, but somehow the city's fans will come up with $50 million for Sam Bradford.I'm not going to turn this into a political/religious discussion but it says a lot about us if what we would rather be is an over achieving jock then a kid that while being a great athlete is also highly intelligent and takes being a student athlete to a new level and hopes to be a brain surgeon after football.Matt Waldman said:The other difference is that Tim Tebow (not his fault and something to admire actually) is what a lot of America wants to sell itself as being. If he didn't major in physics, he should go back to school. It's pretty much the standard. In 3.5 years start to finish.
Apples and oranges. Rolle's biggest problem is there were CBs ahead of him that teams coveted more. I expect him to go in the second, and be a good player. People will talk about negatives all day long. Haden ran a 4.6 roughly at the combine. However, if you watch tapes the guy was a beast game day and a player. Will he pan out in the NFL? I'd say he has less of a chance being a superstar CB in Cleveland than Tebow does in Denver, due to the culture.Hang 10 said:Rolle's biggest drawback is that he's slow for his position. Smith actually did the Vikes a favor. He played until he was at 99% of capacity...he never had one aspect of fading away and considering that most guys linger around (list is soooo long won't even bother mentioning names), as a GM, I would be all over a guy willing to give me 7 years and walk away before I had to pay over-market in order to keep him. If Michael Bennet panned out, it would have been a beautiful transition and one that would have given the Vikes an elite running game for a twenty year span (if you include ADP). As a GM, the last thing I would want is a guy hanging around, collecting a check, but is so popular with the fanbase, I can't outright cut him.phthalatemagic said:It's possible that GMs don't want another Robert Smith situation, where they don't want to spend a high pick on a bright person that has more interests than football, only to quit after a few years to move onto other pursuits in life. This is said with me not knowing how good of a physical prospect Rolle is.
