So what does Bush to NO do for D Davis? (1 Viewer)

Most pre-draft rankings had moved D Davis WAY down assuming Bush was going to Houston. Now what??

Is it me or is he now back in the top 10??

I think with the offensive improvements (Kubiak, Moulds, 2 first day offensive linemen), he could easily be in the top 10. Grabbing Mario Williams to improve their D shouldn't hurt either. A far cry from what most of us thought he would be just a few days ago!

The Rev agrees with the Holy Roller. No way can we expect anything less than improvement from DD with all the upgrades in Houston. I don't know about the prior poster, but in my league DD has been very productive for a couple years now. IMO, he's got a bright future.

I think he's alright got some hard miles on him, but I'd take him anywhere in the 2nd. I think that D has turned it around to where they won't just be throwing from behind, opening up more chances for him to run/grind. I think Moulds, while washed up, will be a nice prescence in the offense too. Kubiak is the Xfactor, but enough to have me intrigued.

He returns to being one of the most under-appreciated RBs in the league and in fantasy in my opinion. Durability is and may always be an issue with Davis but as long as he's healthy he'll be productive -- especially in PPR leagues.

Grab Morency (who looked great in his Week 17 start last season) as your Davis handcuff and you'll enjoy great production out of that RB position all season long.

:goodposting: As a biased owner, I couldn't be happier with the draft and I am in a PPR league. Even in non-PPR, FBG's has DD ranked:

* 14th in 2003 - 14 games, but only 10 starts.

* 5th in 2004 - 15 games and I think he was the #1 RB in the second half with 11TDs and 1237 total yards in the last 9 games. I don't think people realize what an animal he was in the last 9 games.

* 17th in 2005 - Played in only 11 games, also lead the anemic Houston offense with 6 total TDs. He still had over 1300 total yards in only 11 games.

Adding Winston and Spencer to the OL depth, and DD should have a solid 2006. Morency will also be pretty cheap as a backup. I just can't see how people can think he will be bad. PPG wise, he has been in the top 10 all 3 years he has played and has averaged 115.4 total yards per game (82.5 rushing, 32.9 receiving on 4 receptions per game) and 0.74 TDs per game which is equivalent to 1320 yards rushing, 64 receptions for 526 yards receiving and 12 TDs

Based on Wells stats filling in for DD last year, one would expect the same from Morency this year, even if DD misses some time. Some might think that if Carr does better after adding Moulds, then DD will lose out, but remember that DD finished 17th overall in only 11 games last year on a team that scored 16 points a game. If the entire offense does better and DD is healthy all year, I think he is a lock for the top 10 with potential to get back to 2004 top 5 numbers.

DD will be a top 10 back in 2006 - no doubt in my mind. Everyone harps on last year and has gotten programmed to bash this guy in prep for the Bush era. Well it did not happen and part of the reason why HOU could make the decision they did was due in part to DD's presence.

The guy you want to look at is the guy that put up excellant #'s in 2004 playing on a team that will be better than the 2003, 2004 or 2005 version due in large part to the player improvements they have made and a coaching staff with half a clue.

This is what I'm thinking too. They are still the Texans, but they appear to have improved on both sides of the ball. DD is their primary back (ie no real chance of RBBC). I think this puts DD easily into the top 10 next year. Especially in a league that gives credit for receptions.

He is top 5 in PPG every year in the league

What, the Texans-only league?

According to FBGs rankings, and taking into account his missed games in 2005 (5) and the fact that he wasn't even the starter in his rookie year until about game 6, his PPG for 16 games would have put him inside the top 10 every year.In 2003 (final rank 14), he had significant contributions in 12 games and started only 10. In those 12 games, his average over 16 games would have put him at RB8. In PPR, he would have been RB8 as well.

In 2004 (final rank 5), he was RB5 in only 15 games. In PPR leagues, he would have been RB3 only 11 behind LT2 and 22 behind Tiki. His average actually put him at RB4 and RB2 in PPR.

In 2005 (final rank 17), he played only 11 games, but averaged over 16 games, he would have been RB7 and in PPR he would have been RB6.

So, if you are talking per game averages, DD would be RB6 in FBGs rankings and RB5 in PPR leagues, so Sopranos wasn't very far off at all. If you picked up Jonathan Wells in 2005 when DD was hurt, then you would have had a top 8 RB for the past 3 years since week 4 in DD's rookie season.

when healthy he easily produces like a top-10 RB. Injuries are the main concern with him, if you own him you MUST have him hand-cuffed. wells most likely won't be there this year so Morency will be the #2 (and he did show some small flashes in '05)

Great thread. My first thought after hearing the Texans were picking Williams was that the DDavis owner in my league just hit the lottery. All the reasons I was excited for Bush's potential are still in place.

Improved offensive system.

Head coach committed to and successfull at running the ball.

Improved WR#2

Improved pass catching TE

Plus you get,

Improved defense with the draft

Improved offensive line depth

And the real kicker,

No real competition for carries

Put it all together and I have bumped DDavis up to the number 6 spot on my running back list.
