So what FA QB or Trade will the Bucs make? (1 Viewer)

Anyone think they make a run at a backup like Garrard or Volek? Surely they won't feel comfortable with what they currently have on the roster...

nothing for a starter, maybe for a 3rd QB.

It's not like MLB or NBA where you can jsut throw someone onto a team and see them do well.

they've worked for years on a system and it's just hard to get someone in to play QB and start.

I thougt the Bucs were already talking to the Jags about Garrard?

I don't think they'd get him, though. IMO, thge Jags are ready to make a run this year - you need an experienced b/u QB who knows youre system to do that - Garrard is that guy for the Jags.

I am readuy to make a run in my fantasy league at the Super Bowl - someone would have to make me a damn fine trade for me to give up Michael Turner behind LT. if I were "out" of the running, I might make the trade, but not when Turner helps me sleep at night about my first rounbd pick.

I don't think they go get someone to step in. Rattay has been there for nearly a yr. learning the system and Gradkowski is their future. It would surely be a step backward if they went out and got someone only to set them up for more failure. ex. Collins (though he had decent #'s today). Collins has been in Tenn. for 4-5 wks now and finally put up some numbers. The Bucs are already 0-3, no way they look elsewhere other than for a 3rd string like previously mentioned in a thread. Upgrade Gradkowski

It wouldn't be completely shocking to see Shaun King get resigned. He's still in the area, playing xbox at home these days, and he has some familiarity with the system.

If it's not one of the backup QBs, then why even have them? I'm not saying Rattay is wonderful, but if he's so horrible he shouldn't see the field then he shouldn't be on the roster.

I too think they'll go with Rattay. They're already likely done as far as making the playoffs goes, so they'll bide their time with Rattay and then get a look at Gradkowski to see what they have there. If need be, they can go sign guys like Tommy Maddox, Shane Matthews or Shaun King off the street if they need another warm and experienced body.

Good call - I could see this happening before anything else.

Don't know about the doing well part, I like what I've seen of him so far, but I agree with you that Gradkowski is the starter until he gets hurt. I really have no idea why they are paying Rattay 1.3 mil or whatever it is to hold the clipboard, but I would be SHOCKED if Rattay got the next start. Gruden seems to like what he's seen of Gradkowski, I can't remember 2 good words he's ever said about Rattay that seemed genuine.

What do we really now about Gradkowski? Not being privy to any knowledge of his college days nor having seen any Toledo games, I'm curious about this cat, as i'm sure the rest of the football-loving population is. You think Gruden is willing to potentially fall into a deeper hole by starting Grad?

I think the point is, the worst he could be now is 0-3 so he can't fall into a deeper hole.

When has Shaun King played under Gruden? Am I forgetting something?
2002Edit to add, if memory serves, King played like absolute #### and was benched. I think he threw a perfect pass to the Pittsburgh CB that went back 50 yards or so for a TD.

If they could get past the animosity, Raiders #3 QB Marques Tuiasosopo would be a very good candidate to be acquired via trade. Tui knows Gruden's system, he was drafted by Gruden, and he wants to be a starting QB in this league. Oakland has recently brought in Jeff George, who has previous ties to Randy Moss, and has worked well with Moss in the past. And George probably still has the quickest release in the game, which is needed with the Raiders deep drops and pass blocking issues. Stranger things have happened...
But they have a young QB they like, what do they really gain?George is laughable, sorry but...

It is what it is said:
George may be laughable in most fans view, but that still doesn't take away from the fact that he was almost the Raider #3 QB this year.
he was on the team for 4 days not even a week tryout most players are given

While George was not on the team for long, one must look at when he was on the team and the circumstances surrounding his signing (Tui unhappy?). George was on the team at the end of August/start of September. NFL teams usually don't bring veteran QB's in at that time of year unless they are serious about them.
there's nothing usual about bringing in a QB who hasn't played in years but....nonetheless, agree to disagree here?
