So... Who's starting Lundy this week? (1 Viewer)

The pre-season hype for Lundy has been deafening.

Via the daily update, HoustonTexans.com

Kubiak: "Wali (Lundy) will start with Jameel (Cook). That'll be the two starters. Of course (Vernand) Morency is going to play a great deal. Lundy and Morency are basically going to split time, with Wali probably playing a bit more. But we're going to be in a rotating two backs rotation system."
The initial cheatsheets have him at #30 - behind both NO backs, and barely above Blaylock/Barlow (32/34 respectively). Morency is listed at #36.

With all these attempts to temper expectations, who's taking a gamble on him this week?

As of now, I'm starting him as my flex in my primary 12 team league (mostly a shark tank) where we can start 2WR/2RB and 1 WR/RB flex. In my case, the decision is fairly easy - Branch is out, MBIII and Addai aren't yet viable starters - so I'm gambling on Lundy over either Matt Jones, Michael Clayton, or Williamson. Relatively low risk there. (I'm also partial to these overhyped pre-season RB pickups after Fast Willie Parker won me my league last year and got off to a big start last year).

Are any of you making any more drastic chances to start the rookie?

If you are starting Lundy, it better be as a flex, or in a very large league. I don't think he's a viable RB2 option this week unless you completely ignored the position at your draft.

I'm personally starting him in a flex, and like I said I don't consider it a big gamble. In a 12 team league, let's assume that the top 24 RBs and top 24 are already being played and evenly distributed among the teams (which, let's be honest, is rarely the case, but is more likely in a shark league).

Then let's turn to FBG's own projections: The average for the #25-36 RBs is 135.1. The average for the WRs in that range is 119.43. Wali Lundy is projected for 141.3 for the year which would make him the #19 WR.

So yes, maybe he's a reach at RB2 unless you have injuries like Portis to deal with week 1 - but unless you have 3 top-tier WRs, he's a very solid play at flex. And if you DO have 3 top-tier WRs, it's more likely that you're weak at RB, so he'll probably be starting at RB2 :)

In my Dynasty League where we can start a flex RB/WR I am starting Lundy. I have him on several teams as a RB4 but on this team he is a RB3.

I'm going with him as my Flex. I don't buy into the "split" carries with Morency, and Dayne still has the toe thing lingering. I think if Wali can put up good production these first few games, it will make him a very desirable trade option.....and i'd ship him out as soon as his stock is high again. But I am torn cause it is my Dynasty league...and with D.Davis gone now...if the kid can be a full workload back, he may be something of a nice find. All in all, I am riding the Lundy train till it derails my championship hopes, or cruises me into the finals.

I have to start him if Portis doesn't play. He'll start along with T. Bell, and A. Green :bag:

If Portis can't go, it's either Lundy or Chris Brown starting with FWP.

I really hope Portis can play.

He is sitting behind Larry Johnson, Ronnie Brown, and Thomas Jones in the flex in my main keeper league. I just can't justify replacing one of those guys until Lundy shows he can generate points consistently.

I agree, you shouldn't start him over any of those guys who are clear-cut #1s. But if Jones was still hurt, or more likely to share carries, that might change things.

Wow you have passed out from drinking too much Lundy Kool-Aid. By "don't buy into splitting carries" you mean that you don't want to believe it.
