I drafted for FBG with an assist from Dodds.
10-team, PPR league with 4pts per passing TD.
My roster
QB: Tom Brady, David Garrard
RB: Darren McFadden, Reggie Bush, Larry Johnson, Leon Washington, Earnest Graham, Jamaal Charles
WR: Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Braylon Edwards, Antonio Bryant, Donnie Avery, Muhsin Muhammad
TE: Dustin Keller, Brent Celek
PK: Lawrence Tynes
DEF: Chargers
We went WR/WR to start rather than reach for a RB at 7th overall. Figured we already missed out on the elite options at RB so might as well land some elite guys at WR.
Wound up grabbing McFadden in the 3rd who should be headed for a breakout PPR season. Then lucked into getting Brady in the 4th pretty much giving us one of the best QB/WR groups in the league.
at the 5/6 turn, took Reggie Bush to be our RB2 and Braylon Edwards to be our WR3. Bush seemed like great value at that point in a PPR league provided he can stay healthy. Love having Edwards as a WR3 also.
would have loved to get a shot at Greg Olsen in the 7th but he didn't last. Since we started weak at RB, wanted to land a 3rd solid NFL starter with upside and Larry Johnson filled that need. He'll likely wind up competing for the flex starting spot most weeks with our 8th round pick Antonio Bryant. Bryant pick maybe could have been a TE but I felt he presented value while a TE there was not much different than what I'd get later on.
in the 9th, I got another RB with loads of upside in Leon Washington. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets quite a few starts for this team at RB or Flex if they use him as much as some reports are hinting at. Didn't want to wait any longer and took TE Dustin Keller in the 10th. Had a great rookie season and should pick up some of the slack created by the loss of Coles.
in the 11th/12th, considered maybe grabbing a backup QB but decided to add depth with some more big upside guys in Earnest Graham and Donnie Avery.
in the 13th/14th, grabbed a handcuff in Jamaal Charles in case he pulls a Hightower with the Chiefs this year, and also landed a backup TE with upside in Brent Celek.
in the 15th/16th, I was the last team to draft a backup QB so I might have been able to wait longer but I felt like Garrard was a steal at this point and locked him up. Also was very happy to get the Chargers defense, but the week 5 bye might force me to drop a position player earlier than I'd like to.
in the 17th/18th, I grabbed a safe depth WR in Muhammad to be my 6th and a kicker in Tynes who had a late bye week.
This team should be able to put up big points given the strength at QB and WR. I also think there's enough depth/potential at RB to be a contender. If McFadden and Bush and Johnson play up to their potential, this team should be very tough to beat. Probably among the weakest teams at TE but I think the Keller/Celek combo will be good enough most weeks.
There were definitely some interesting picks and strategies from the other owners. Figured I'd post this in case people wanted an example of a 10-team draft to check out while preparing for their own.
