Someone explain why Mccown will struggle vs. Browns this week? (1 Viewer)

Im not understanding the low prelim rankings for QB Footballguys just put out.

I understand Mccown sucked it up vs. Denver but THEY ARE A TOUGH PASS D team. I mean they have Champ and Bly. Whos gonna do good vs. those two? If you look pass that game, Mccown lit up a horrible pass D week 1 vs. the Lions for 2tds, 300yds.

The Browns pass d has given up 10 passing touchdowns in 2 games. Read that sentence again. 10 in 2 games!?!?!?

Kiffen was extremely disappointed in the passing game last week and will make it a focus to get back on track.

Raiders will BE AT HOME and Mccown will get atleast 3tds vs them. To easy.

Does anyone agree?

He's hurt would be my guess.
Exactly - he was putting the ball on the turf alot last week - I assume in part due to the finger injury. Why rank him high when 1) he could have the injury flare up and 2) he could get yanked if he keeps coughing the ball up and throwing INTs.

I agree the injury plays a part, but any time you come off a stinker like last week, it's understandable why he would be ranked that low. Even against the Browns. It's also not out of the realm of possibility that if he struggles early, we could see Culpepper in the second half.

ETA: as NoFBinLA said

The simple answer is, he sucks. He might put up numbers against the Browns, but both Roethlisberger and Palmer are in a different universe as far as QB talent goes, compared to McCown. Most speculation around here is that McCown's on a short leash, although the speculation was that Culpepper would start week 1, too; hard to see why they're leaving him in there while he's hurt and pretty mistake-prone.

so whats the play regarding Curry? Do you play him as your #3 or flex knowing he's going against a lousy D this week?

He's hurt, he's throwing INT's and he's fumbling the ball. Not exactly the type of QB I'd want to start this week...

Curry should do better this week as he won't have Champ Bailey covering him. He can be a boom (week 1) or bust (week 2) candidate so it really depends on who your alternatives are and how you match up against your opponent - assuming you are playing head to head. I have to decide between Curry and a more consistent RB (albeit with a lower ceiling). I'm leaning towards rolling the dice with Curry this week because I expect my opponent to put up points and I may need the higher ceiling RC offers.... ...hope this helps

Question is why in the hell is he starting he so sucks. Culpepper is being so wronged here.
He so sucks........What is that Calbonics.. I thought that died out in the San Fernando valley in the early 90's. Culpepper has not looked like a QB since he played with Randy Moss.
