Songs You're Embarrassed to Admit Liking (1 Viewer)

Umbrella - Rihanna
Rihanna - Diamonds
I love both of these. I don't consider liking Rihanna embarrassing, but hey, it's how you feel about liking them that matters, if we take the question literally. In other words, someone's approval is not met. Which is probably my answer to Kenny Powers's and madsweeney's 90's questions about my picks.

These days? None. Hell, I'm a Grand Funk fan and don't feel a bit of shame.

I do regret, on the other hand, my faux-snobbery when I was a teenager. This was during the salad days of 70s Art Rock (or "prog", as Jann Wenner & his brood decided it should be named 20 years after the fact when they felt left out). Friends would come over and I'd hide all of my John Denver/Al Wilson records. :bag:

Heh, UH - never liked John Denver much but he was incredibly popular in the day. Do you remember that he even guest hosted the Tonight Show a bunch of times. That ####in catch phrase was pretty chilling though ...FAR OUT!! ...eww.

I was very big into James Taylor, Carole King and Cat Stevens prior to my introduction to fm radio. Still like them to day, but hid that fact after 8th grade.

What's up, my Runt-loving brother!

I tried to think of the squarest dude imaginable, but I did actually have a few JD singles.

 big fan of JD. His Muppets Christmas is on almost non-stop in my van with the kids, and he has a lot of songs I love.

Shakira - Hips Don't Lie

inspired by the Shakira thread. Probably more than anything due to the fact that everytime I hear it my mind wanders off to thoughts of plowing her

21 or so months later, AA still tries to figure out how "Africa" could ever be a guilty pleasure . . .
Well made "classic rock" that aged better than most.
Definitely! :) Interesting lyrics, great title-appropriate beat, pleasant keyboard solo and synths throughout, and (and of course I'm a sucker for this, but still) fantastic backing vocals on the chorus and outro. I like how Steve Lukather hangs back on guitar and still contributes, too. As a bonus it sounds like it could have been recorded last week. Maybe one of my top 25 songs if I actually sat down and ranked them.
