Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (1 Viewer)

Revis struggled with AJ Green, but the Bills TDs were scramble drill flukes. Maclin isn't suddenly some amazing fantasy play this week.

Ware is in for me. Fuller, Decker, and TY in over Maclin. I doubt he tops 75 yards.
The pass to Goodwin was not a scramble. It was his first read in that progression and threw it from the pocket. The pass to Salas was a play he kept alive despite pressure and appeared to be a broken play.

Maclin could be a good play. The issue is that Alex Smith doesn't throw it down the field enough to take advantage of Revis right now. So while that could potentially be a good matchup with Maclin breaking a big play, it would require Smith to throw vertical. I'm not too optimistic that he does that.

9/21 Wed:

When asked about Jamaal Charles' (knee) status for Week 3, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said "another week is going to help him."

Reid said Charles could play "today or tomorrow," but it looks like the Chiefs will err on the side of caution by keeping him out one more week. Charles practiced with the scout team on Wednesday, just as he did last week. With Charles a long shot for Sunday, Spencer Ware should see another heavy workload against the Jets in Week 3. Sep 21 - 4:20 PM

9/22 Thurs: Charles is limited in practice.

That should bump the confidence of Ware owners for week 3.

I'm more concerned about Alex smiths ####ty play and the nyj then charles

I hope the Chiefs defense steps it up and the offense doesn't face a double-digit deficit at halftime for the third straight week.

Chiefs RB Spencer Ware is the only running back to record 5 or more yards on over half of his carries.

11 of Ware’s 21 runs have gone for 5 or more yards, which has helped him become a top-10 running back in terms of PFF grade. While Jamaal Charles might be ready to return this week, Spencer Ware has played well enough that he should continue to be a large part of the Chiefs’ offense. In Week 3 he is facing a Jets team that has held both Jeremy Hill and LeSean McCoy to under 4.0 yards per carry. This will be a matchup of strength against strength.

Are the starting guards back from injury?
Ehinger is listed as out and LDT is listed as questionable. KC is now 0-5 when LDT doesn't play.

As for game script, I'm not so sure I care if KC goes down multiple scores, at least in PPR. His best fantasy performance to date spawned from a negative game script. As many have mentioned, Ware was wide open on several plays last week and was still a mismatch nightmare for HOU's LBs. I hope KC has to throw it 50 times on Sunday.

Yeah...obv. in two games with negative game scripts he's averaged 15 touches. If the gamescript reverses, though, there's a decent chance his # of touches would go up.....Counting on another 7-reception game to get those touches up, idk about that.

I just don't see the Jets giving that up, for one. They held Gio to 2 rec. for 25 and McCoy to 4 for 30.

I'd rather see him catch 4-5 passes and get 15+ carries along with some red-zone action.

Not that this means much--but Vegas has the game at a 42.5 pt over/under with the Chiefs being a 3 point favorite.   Generally speaking-this means that Vegas is projecting something along the likes of a 23-20 game.   The Jets D is very tough and my guess is that Ware will need to break out a big play or 2 if he wants to keep up his efficient numbers.   I personally could see Ware going for something like 14 carries for 50-55 yards, and 2-4 recipes for 20-25 yards.  Basically--I think he'll have one of those games where the presence or lack of a td will be the determining factor between a decent and a great fantasy game.

Rumors swirling that Miami might be making a move for Jamaal Charles...
Had a feeling all along that the Chiefs were keeping him out to see if there was a trade market when he got healthy.

The extended both Ware and West in the offseason.  The team is winning without Charles.  Charles is 29, but probably has a couple good/great years left IF his knee is fully healthy.  And the Chiefs have seemingly been slow-rolling this thing.  A trade makes a lot more sense than letting Charles play and maybe getting hurt when you've got his position covered already.

People are really running with a trade rumor sourced from "some dude on sleeperbot."

I'm gonna guess this is not legit.

Remember when KC gave Larry Johnson a huge deal in the twilight of his career? Maybe they've learned something now that they've got new management running KC now.

27 is not the twilight of someone's career.

This trade is not happening people.

Charles was linked to a number of teams including the Phins in the spring.  The trade makes no sense happening now for multiple reasons.

Please stop.

KC had already run the tread off LJ at an early age (partially due to his physical running style) so 27 was considered an old man to me (and many other KC fans) at the time and we were right.

Average career span for NFL RBs is 2.5 years. On average, first-round pick NFL players average 9 years. So 27 is the twilight in many many cases.

Regardless, has nothing to do with Charles situation.

We're not talking about a contract extension.

I think I'm aware of that and stand by what I said.

Man, the memories of owning Priest, LJ or both.  Those were the days....

:goodposting:

  There is no ####### way this is true
Of course not. No one is going to trade for a 30 year old running back coming off of his second ACL surgery. Especially one who is struggling hard to even get back on the field a year after the injury. Maybe if Charles came back and had a few good games, someone would be interested. At this point, he could be like Jamal Anderson was after his injury. Worthless

"It's time to take the diapers off"
Was that Herm Edwards that said that? Can't remember who was coaching KC at the time. IIRC LJ had been at the top of his game for a few years and held out half of one season trying to negotiate a better contract. He finally got a great long term deal but I don't remember him being the same dominant player again so KC basically overpaid him for past greatness that he was probably underpaid for.

the fumbling awesomeness?
That was the dude's first career fumble and he hardly fumbled in college. I normally think that you are fairly well thought in your fantasy opinions- but overlooking how efficient he has been and being negative on ONE career fumble is not looking at things very objectively.
