Stallworth in sub.abuse program (1 Viewer)

The Saints were heavily ridiculed for making this trade...

Paul Domowitch | Saint's bird-brained move nice for EaglesIT'S HARD to quantify stupid, but dealing away a wide receiver the caliber of Donté Stallworth for Mark Simoneau and a conditional fourth-round draft pick is a pretty good place to start....If you're the Eagles, you're thanking God right now that there are people in the league as incompetent as Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and player personnel director Rick Mueller - people to whom you can turn when you realize, nearly too late, that Todd Pinkston is a wimp....Andy Reid and Tom Heckert might want to send them a nice thank-you gift if the Eagles make the playoffs, which is a much better possibility today than it was earlier this week."They just don't have a clue down there," an NFC personnel chief said. "I know they didn't think they were going to be able to re-sign him. But for crying out loud, you don't just give him away. This is a guy who caught 70 passes last season."...
...turns out they got a 4th round pick and what should be a back-up LB in exchange for 38 receptions from a pothead, oft injured WR.

That pothead was a major factor in getting the Eagles to the Divisional round of the playoffs.

Too bad he couldn't get them past the Saints.

Seriously. That trade was NOT in the Saint's favor, as your comment makes it sound.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports free agent Donte' Stallworth has scheduled visits with the Patriots and Titans.

Stallworth, currently in the NFL's substance-abuse program, is believed to be willing to settle for a one-year deal in order to rehabilitate his free agent stock. These visits will be Stallworth's first of the offseason.

Damn, that make's 3 Sacramento F' ups.

1. Rae Carruth

2. Onterrio Smith

3. Donte Stallworth

Interesting timing on the comments. Could Philly be trying to lower his value to bring him back on the cheap?
I doubt it. While this may be news to us, I'm sure the NFL informs teams about the substance abuse participation of players so as not to give any team an advantage.
