Standing desk recommendations (1 Viewer)

I've always liked standing up at a desk and I guess the science now is suggesting that sitting as much as people tend to do nowadays is not good for you, so I'm looking into getting a standing desk.

I don't need an adjustable one like this one (though it looks pretty cool), but I would like something that's got drawers in it and isn't just a tabletop.

Does anyone have any good recommendations?

My brother has an adjustable one that he loves. I helped him set it up last year. He did a ton of research at the time. I'll ask him the name.

Edit:

Ergo Depot

We have the adjustable ones in my office... I know you said you were against, but they really are awesome...

In the before picture, below the mouse you can see the two black buttons, one is up and the other is down. They have a variance of almost 3 feet. I'd highly recommend.

You'll want an adjustable desktop paired with an adjustable tall chair. Just raised my desk to standing height and brought in a tall office chair with foot rail. Still messing around with the fit, but I had to get out of that damn chair. I've got @#%&! vericose spider veins thanks to all that sitting...

I like your note and arrow on your whiteboard pointing to the post-it

It is an empty desk next to mine... IT note.

Oh. I do stuff like that sometimes. I write on my whiteboard and refer to some post-it with an arrow.

I use one but rather than move the desk up and down I simply raise and lower my monitors. A guy here builds mini tables to put on the desk for the keyboard and mouse. It makes it nice to be able to sit back down after working out at lunch or when trying to type up a ton of crap.

When I worked for Chevron, the office had these things. It seemed like everyone there who had there's raised up wore a bow tie and vest. And they would spend half of their day telling people like me with the desk in the normal sitting position about how I should stand at my desk. I hated that job.

Had this setup at Apple was great. Would have it raised about half the time.

I keep asking for this at work.

Ergonomics consultant said I could just put my keyboard on a cardboard box.

i would make all kinds of pre-judgments and assumptions when walking into the office of anyone who had a standing desk.

I have a home office, and found some life hack site that worked for my environment.

Basically, I have 4 buckets (14" tall), then two 2x12 cut to size resting on the buckets, desk, and a few small items sit on the 2x12s.

Desk is stable, sits at an ergonomically correct height for me and I never really see the buckets. Whole set-up cost about $25.

My desk is 48"x24"

I may end up getting a stand-up desk at some point, but I did not want to commit to doing it until I had really tried it out. This was the easiest/cheapest way I could try the concept.

Cheapskate.

Cinderblocks for my desk had occurred to me...

Been using a standing desk for about a week and a half and I like it so far. I just wanted to do something so I wasn't sitting on my butt all day. Rather than get an entire standing desk, I purchased the Varidesk Pro 36, which is an adjustable platform that sits on your existing desk.

http://www.varidesk.com

I also purchased the dual monitor arms to increase available surface real estate on the platform because I edit documents by hand a lot and need to spread out papers. I was actually looking to purchase a piece of furniture like the lectern linked above, but that wouldn't work for computer use.

The Varidesk sits on half of my desk, so I still have half the desk open to use for files or additional workspace.
