Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread: Kings win 2nd Cup in 3 seasons (2 Viewers)

I'd say that it's impossible for the Rags to recover from that. But then I remember the Bruins dropped Games 1 and 2 in OT in Vancouver three years ago, losing in the final 30 seconds and then 12 seconds into OT. They managed to win 4 of the last 5.

I certainly wouldn't pick against the Kings, but crazier things have happened.

If they had lost it in regulation, it would have been a disaster. They took it to OT in both their games. They can play with the Kings. Now they're home.

Just win Monday.

####### incredible. I know redirects happen all the time in hockey, but the skill still amazes me.

Fun game.

Wow just seen Mullet Melrose give me the highlights and show off a bad sunburn. I fully understand the soccer references now. The ####### highlights were intense, sad I missed tonight's tilt on the MSG pitch.

And the Kings haven't been able to win on the road.

It's how they lost that makes this over IMO. They've given up a 2 goal lead in each game. They didnt trail once in game 2. They've got to be demoralized.

Rangers have blown FOUR 2-goal leads in this series. Champions put teams away when they should. Not looking good for my blueshirts. But, anything can happen. Look at the Kings/Sharks this year. Anyway, the "speed" theme:

:deadhorse:

That had to be brutal for the Rags and their fans. I'm glad I'm not emotionally invested in this one. From the outside it's been great to watch.

Typical ranger fans calling the series over. Come on man up and believe in your damn team.
Clearly you're not a Rangers fan.Anyway, I'm proud of the way the rangers have battled, but despite how close the games have been, you see the difference in the two teams. The Rangers have to play a basically mistake-free game in all zones to win. The Kings, on the other hand, can be far less than their best, and still win. Helps when you have so many big forwards that can finish scoring opportunities.

I don't think they can win the series but I think the Rangers have a good shot to win Game 3 if they approach it with the "Nobody's giving us a chance, it's us against the world, yadda, yadda, yadda" attitude.

That said, I don't think this series goes more than 5.

What's the TV ratings been like so far through two games?
Last year’s Game 1 between Chicago and Boston (combined populations of about 3.5 million) drew 6.36 million viewers nationwide. This year’s Game 1 between New York and L.A. (combined populations of about 12 million) drew 4.78 million.

NBC was able to capitalize on the big Belmont Stakes audience by immediately following its coverage with Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final between the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings.

According to Nielsen, the Kings’ double-overtime victory in Los Angeles averaged roughly 6.4 million viewers, making it the most-watched Game 2 on record (since at least 1994). The game was up 60% vs. last year’s Game 2 on NBCSN (Bruins-Blackhawks, 4.0 million), and up 121% vs. 2012’s Game 2 on NBC that also featured the Kings (Kings-Devils, 2.9 million).

NBC dominated primetime, beating its combined ABC-CBS-Fox competition in key demos while also winning in total viewers. The game peaked in the final quarter-hour (11:30-11:45 p.m. ET) with 7.6 million viewers.

The New York market generated a 10.5 overnight household rating, according to Nielsen, the highest-rated NHL game ever on NBC or NBCSN in the market, and up from a 10.1 for Wednesday’s Game 1, which was the previous record. Los Angeles scored a 8.9 fousehold rating, the second-highest such game ever in Los Angeles, behind only the 2012 Stanley Cup Final Game 6 (13.6), which was when the Kings clinched their first-ever championship. L.A. did a 7.1 rating for Game 1.
