I think Rey and Kylo are siblings, just not twins. Kylo probably went bad and killed Luke's other students before she began training. The visions were akin to Luke's visions from Empire Strikes Back. The Noid said:- In Rey's flashback with the light saber, was she one of the Jedi in training with Luke when Kylo went crazy (and Ren spared her?) Or was holding the lightsaber just giving her visions of what happened because it was Luke's? I was confused because it also looked like she saw her own flashback of being left in Jakku.
He's squid-like, maybe they change color like squids can.SkyRattlers said:It was not Ackbar, wrong color, same race. The Noid said:Quick thoughts:
- Felt like a reboot and sequel, at the same time. Still don't know how I feel about that.
- In Rey's flashback with the light saber, was she one of the Jedi in training with Luke when Kylo went crazy (and Ren spared her?) Or was holding the lightsaber just giving her visions of what happened because it was Luke's? I was confused because it also looked like she saw her own flashback of being left in Jakku.
- Was Kylo's regular name Ben? It sounded like Han called him that.
- We haven't had much back-story on it, but I already think Kylo's turn to the dark side is more believable than Anakin's reasons that we saw 3 movies explaining.
- Saw this with my wife and taking my boys (12 & 7) on Saturday. My 7 year-old is going to lose his #### over this movie...until Han dies. I seriously think he's going to need counseling after.
- Gwendoline Christie and Lupita Nyongo were barely even cameo parts.
- Smoak seemed too cartoony. Maybe the other movies will explain more (is he a Wizard of Oz type?)
- I managed to avoid spoilers and was convinced, because Hamill has been off the interview circuit, no action figures, etc., that he was the big bad behind Kylo
- Fisher is 14 years younger than Ford and looks like she could be his mom. Really paying for that 70-80's party lifestyle.
- Is that Admiral Ackbar, I assume? But was that Nien Nunb and Sebulba flying ships for the Resistance, or just same alien races of those characters (like mini Greedo in Ep 1?)
Can't say for certain on the other two but I doubt it. No idea how long either of their races live for but it seems unlikely they'd still be young enough to be "warriors" still.
Could have had Han say to Kylo "Son, I love you." Kylo say "I know." and then run him through with the saber.shader said:By the way, Solo's death really hit women and children hard. That was quite a shocking moment for most. Yeah when he went walking out on the bridge you knew it was a bad idea, but that was great cinematography. That was the biggest gut-punch so far in all the Star Wars movies.
You think Ren is powerful in the Dark Side? He's not even the equivalent to a Jedi. The guy is a weakling in the Force right now. A toddler perhaps. Luke would beat him easily. Even Rey was able to "win" the light saber from him with a simple Accio spell. The guy needed the mask to mask his weakness. No one respected him or feared him. I almost would rather they killed him off but they are going to mirror him "growing" into the Dark Side like they did Luke. The guy is a pipsqueak who thinks he's the galaxy is his. Far from it.Is this only set to be a trilogy or is this going to be a continuation like Bond or something? Also, is there going to be a new expanded universe outside Disney cartoons?I like Kylo Ren. He's clearly powerful with the dark side, but he's also clearly a wannabe Vader...as Rey shamed him with. That he wears a mask to look the part while really not needing it is great in pushing this narrative. His temper tantrums with the lightsaber were great in showing his immaturity, his constant need to prove himself worthy of the feared respect Vader had. He likely neve be nearby, picking her up shortly after leaving her homeworld...I just think it's too convenient and coincidental for the Falcon and him to be there at the right times.

I don't know what to think of Ren regarding exactly how strong he is. Yes, Ren is kind of a weakling. I need to re-watch, but he doesn't even seem like he has that much power in the First Order yet. His light saber is erratic/half-built, and he is completely out of control in his feelings. You think Ren is powerful in the Dark Side? He's not even the equivalent to a Jedi. 1-3 & 5. aren't strong arguments imho.Could be but I still think Luke makes more sense. If it were Leah's daughter I would think there's be more than a long hug.Could be Leah's daughter. Han didn't know about her, because he ran off. That would explain the long hug Ren and Leah had after Han's death. They hadn't met at that point. The Football Freak said:It does make sense, I think. Luke had a kid, but the empire wasn't finished off, and things were still dangerous. She had to be hidden, probably staying with the mom. When this event with Luke's padawan went down, maybe he knew where she was, so Rey had to be hidden completely.MattFancy said:I was thinking the same thingThe Football Freak said:Luke's daughter. This time they are cousins, end it explains why she is stronger. karlo was from Leah, Rey is from Luke is my guessMattFancy said:Loved it! Any thoughts on who Rey is?
Reasons Luke makes more sense:
1) Luke's lightsaber calling to her
2) Rey getting left on a sand ridden planet and wearing similar clothes
3) The obvious connection in the final scene with Rey holding out the lightsaber to Luke
4) If Rey were Leah's child it wouldn't make as much sense for her to let Rey go with Chewey (i.e. Leah would go herself). Knowing it was Luke's daughter however make perfect sense.
5) Han offering her a job on the MF. He did the same to Luke.
Everything IMO points to Luke but it could just be a big bait and switch.
I kind of liked that they made him a whiney pipsqueak. You think Ren is powerful in the Dark Side? He's not even the equivalent to a Jedi. The guy is a weakling in the Force right now. Agree that 2 & 5 normally wouldn't mean that much but SW is all about symbolism and continuity. General or not I would think Leia could find time to make a trip to find her long lost brother.1-3 & 5. aren't strong arguments imho.Could be but I still think Luke makes more sense. We did, with the dbox thing. It was fine, actually forgot it was there a few times. But it didn't add anything at all.Anyone see it in 3D? I went Thursday night and saw it in 2D but thinking of going again with my 11yo. If so wondering if it's worth 3D.
I did. 3-d imax. It was my first 3-D movie and I was skeptical. Although the glasses were a little annoying to me, I thought it was great.Anyone see it in 3D? I went Thursday night and saw it in 2D but thinking of going again with my 11yo. If so wondering if it's worth 3D.

Me too. The problem is that I want to see it in 2d on a large screen and every large screen is 3D...Saw in in IMAX 3-D and felt only one or two scenes really stood out. I am very much over the 3-D craze and hope it comes to a quick death.

Is it that hard to understand that Sidious was right and that Anakin was brainwashed by a cult who didn't give a damn about his mother? I really like the idea of him being Yoda-sized. That would be hilarious although half the fanbase would probably riot for some reason. If you wonder why the movie was a bit safe, it's because many of the fans are such huge superdorks and if you take major chances, you run the risk of nerd riots. It was a hologram. Yes, this. Showing his ability to stop a laser blast in mid-air, hold it there while he did other business, then release it at his leisure was Abrams' way to show this guy has some powerful force skills. That's a stark contrast to all of the Jedi who got gunned down under Order 66 in ROTS. Force grabbing his general, pulling him across the room into his grip was another way Abrams showed this. So was his force suspension of Rey. So was his mind manipulation of the pilot. He is powerful...I don't know what to think of Ren regarding exactly how strong he is. I think the best explanation is that he's extremely strong with the force and has focused on some areas while neglecting (or just not very good at other). Given that he stopped that laser blast he obviously has a ton of potential but still needs training in other areas.
Kylo Ren is the evil. Evil in fantasy is often shown to be harnessing a dark, wild magic. He has power but is emotional.Arguing which wizard should be more powerful is ridiculous. We've got no rules and minimal context.
