Seems to me kylo ren may know who Rae is as well. Watching the flashback again it does seem ren saves her as a young child

My nephew emailed me yesterday and said this almost verbatim after watching it a second time.

When ren is told a girl is helping bb8 he says "what girl"? The way he says it and then talks with her after the capture make me think he does. Starting to buy into she was a student who was brain wiped and dumped on that planet for safety. It would explain so much as to how she quickly did all that force stuff.

Now that I read that it makes all the sense in the world as to why her and possibly Fin are both quick studies when it comes to the force. Maybe Luke flitted about the universe depositing proteges in order to save them for later when it was safe to be a Jedi again. Basically the same thing that happened to him & Leia.

Before I continue the discussion, is this a safe space free of any criticism of the movie? Id hate to be triggered by people with different views than my own.

Leia was part of the political process and tried to get the New Republic to arm up and fight the First Order, but was voted down by people who wanted peace above all else and didn't view the First Order as a real threat.

This would be like the U.S. de-arming after WW2 and not worrying about those pesky Russians.

Or like Europe after WW1. No one wanted to repeat the extreme destruction of the the first war and were willing to pretend that Hitler wasn't a problem.

I think Kylo knows or suspects that Rey is somebody in particular. I'm still not sure who she is. I vassilate between Luke or Leia's but I think she's a skywalker for sure.

I'm starting to lean Luke's. He just says so much with his look. Pride. Regret. Remorse. Resolve.

I think it is possible that she's Luke's and he didn't tell anybody (though it also seems to me that Han and Leia know more than what is shown on screen about her) and she was born at the Jedi temple.

I think his lady died either in child birth or by Kylo and that's whose gravestone is seemingly on the cliff. Why she's dropped at Jakku? Don't know. That guy at the beginning maybe watched over her for luke. He seemingly was a Jedi groupie and assisted Luke along the way. He possibly was an assistant at the jedi temple and played the Obiwan role for her at Luke's request.

Then the gal in front of me, about the size of that orange broad, has some teenage girl come up to her to order stuff for her and her friends. It took all of my force to not strangle the #####.

Rooting for a Dark Side resurgence and rid the galaxy of these mass murdering "resistance" ####ers once and for all.

I've only read the Timothy Zahn books with grand admiral thrawn that were written a long time ago plus a few misc others that were also written like 15 plus years ago. One thing I think would be cool would be to bring those force resistant beings into the movies. Don't remember their name, but they could create a bubble of force resistance around a person or building. Kinda cool. They were like a sloth or something. Those Zahn novels would have been a cool trilogy

I was thinking Rey would be Luke's daughter. I was critical when watching the first half of the movie but then I caught myself and stopped over thinking the whole thing and just enjoyed the rest of the movie. My kids loved it. My nephews have watched it multiple times already. The movie must have done something right. I used to think Return of the Jedi was the best movie when I was a kid because of the Ewoks. Now I don't really like the Ewoks. I asked my kids what their favorite SW movie is and they said EP7 because it has the most action.

Margaret Weis wrote a series of books that are a very blatant Star Wars ripoff. The Star of the Guardians series begins with the novel The Lost King. Empire ran the galaxy. People didn't like it, so there was a Rebellion. This was in ANH.

You scoff but that whole scene gave enough detail to establish the entire galactic setup. The Imperial commanders worried that the rebllion may gain strength sincr they just kidnapped a Senator. Tarkin strolls in and says the Empire is large and in charge and #### all the little people. We run the show through fear now. Done. No long exposition. No 30 minute Cspan hearings. We got all we needed about the galaxy in a ####### 5 minute scene by a supposedly inferior writer and director.

Still not getting all the "fatal flaw" comments re. the latest death star thing.

It was only vulnerable AFTER absorbing the power of a sun and BEFORE firing. Even then the place was well shielded as to be nearly un-approachable without taking the shields down FROM THE INSIDE. Then to top it all off, the "vulneable spot" easily withstood a huge external barrage. It only became vulnerable AFTER multiple explosive devices were detonated FROM THE INSIDE.....devices which STILL didn't take it down, but required a virtually suicidal flight inside the building to fire more weapons at the supporting structures.

The fatal flaw complaint is absurd....that much absorbed energy MUST be dangerous. FOr it to be anything less would be ridiculous. The fact that it took so many successful low probability but completely separate accomplishments to send it over the edge and into self-destruction isn't a "fatal flaw" at all.

I've only read the Timothy Zahn books with grand admiral thrawn that were written a long time ago plus a few misc others that were also written like 15 plus years ago. One thing I think would be cool would be to bring those force resistant beings into the movies. Don't remember their name, but they could create a bubble of force resistance around a person or building. Kinda cool. They were like a sloth or something. Those Zahn novels would have been a cool trilogy

There are plot holes in a film where all the ships can go light speed with never ending amounts of fuel/battery power in a universe with tons of planets that support human life with a bunch of different alien species who speak english, or speak some sort of boop da boop or something we cant understand, but somehow all the english speaking people understand in perfectly?
