Start Mark Clayton this week (1 Viewer)

The Browns' starting cornerback Gary Baxter is looking to be out this Sunday with an injury. That means that Bodden will step into the #1 spot to cover Mason, leaving Ralph Brown to cover Clayton. As all Browns fans know, Ralph Brown is perhaps the worst corner in the league and probably gave up 75% of all big pass plays against the Browns the first two weeks. There have been three passing touchdowns scored on the Browns in two weeks. Marques Colston in week one (blown coverage by Ralph), Kelley Washington in week two (Ralph again), and Chad Johson in week two (beat a zone). Washington and Colston are not bigtime studs, and they scored when Ralph was the #3 corner. When he steps up to #2, look out.

The Ravens know this and will gameplan accordingly. Clayton will be open all day and will score.

edit: changed "mark it down" to "pencil it in"

Just for reference, we've been told once this year to "Mark it down, XXX WR will have a great game this week". To refresh the memory.

Mark it down right now.. Lee Evans is a MUST START this week.

Evans had a slow start last week, but if history repeats itself, Evans could be huge this week. Evans blew up for for 100+ yards and three TD's last year against the Dolphins. Miami loves to give up long plays which is Evans' and Losman's specialty. I expect 100 yards and at least one TD..

Anyone hopping on the Lee Evans bandwagon this week??

Result: Lee Evans, 2 catches, 19 yards

As the original poster, the replies do kinda make me laugh at myself :)

But I'll stand by my prediction, and if this turns into a Lee Evans type failure then I'll take the heat for it. But if I'm correct... maybe I gain a little credibility? I suppose a blind squirrel DOES find a nut once in a while. Let's see what happens on Sunday.

Just posted it in case anyone wanted to know a little more about the Browns problems in the secondary.

Mcnair hasn't been forced to pass in the first two contests at all, and the o-line hasn't given him the oppurtunity to throw the deep ball. With Jamal banged up, maybe, just maybe Clayton will be in the game plan. I'm willing to jump on the Clayton bandwagon this week. I drafted this guy to start, not sit on my bench. :banned:edit to add: i'm not suggesting that Cleveland will force Balitmore to pass at all, so my enthusiasm is tempered.

So, if we "mark it down" and it doesn't happen, where do we go from there?
Just "unmark it" and everything goes back to normal.
Hopefully you didn't use a Sharpie on a shirt or you're just going to have to live with it...

:goodposting: Mark Down = Bench that player

If you need to start Mark Clayton you will finish last anyways, so don't bother.

I just launched Mark Clayton. I think he is the third option on a team that isn't throwing the ball much. The defense is so good that don't have to score much. I had him on two teams, but I gave up on him.

Maybe the "Mark it Down" tone is a bit much, so I can understand the sarcastic replies, but let's not diss a homer who goes out of his way to let us all know that Cleveland is going to start a rubbish corner who has given up TDs every week of the season.

I don't know about you, but I actually appreciate that kind of info. Maybe it's just me.

Indeed. If nothing else, mark it down that Heap and Mason may probably hit paydirt if you are wondering if they should start for you or not this week...

I for one appreciate the info. I'm terribly thin at WR this weekend in a league I have Clayton and have to go with either him or Lloyd. I had penciled in Lloyd but this information has led me to consider Clayton.

:goodposting: I'm not touching Clayton with a 10-foot pole, but still :goodposting:

Thanks :) Just trying to do my part.

No prob. I'm a bit dodgy at WR2 this week, and might actually start Marky Clayton. If he tanks I'll know where to find you. ;)

:hot:  :hot: This was all I saw all week when I came to the Pool, "Lee Evans is a MUST START this week". Needless to say it didn't work out so well.... :boxing:

I was told the same several years ago regarding Steve Smith. It takes a while, but I think Clayton is a good keeper prospect. I'm not starting him until he earns it though.

Nice to see someone making a somewhat bold prediction with some reasoning and support. Too often we get predictions because of someone's gut feeling or just because they said so.

 With comments like this, I'm shocked people would even dream of ripping on the shark pool lately.

Ok, nxmehta, I'm plugging him in. With the Heap news, gotta think the WRs are gonna be getting a few more targets in this game.

Plus, I just have to think that Billick's hubris is going to force him to throw the ball vs. a depleted Browns secondary to prove that this isn't the "same old Ravens offense."

:goodposting: I like this sort of information. I think the haters need to tone it down a bit. Appreciate the inside info and decide to use it or not but stop ripping the guy for trying to help people win FFB games....

The problem is that the Browns have not stopped the run this year, either.

If the Ravens jump out to a big lead early, they may just run the ball all day.

Not a bad day for Mark Clayton, scored 11pts for me in my league. Unfortunately, it was on my bench bc I started MICHAEL Clayton instead. 1 pt. Oops.

:lmao:

Hopefully the 10 pts don't cost me or it will be more like.

:wall:

Thanks for posting this. I won two games because I put Clayton into my line-up and, as much as I love the Sooner, I would have stayed away had I not had seen this.

Well, glad to hear that this helped someone out :) He didn't score so I'm eating my crow, but he had a decent game. Turns out that Ralph Brown didn't start, but Daven Holly started and he is just about as bad as Brown. So Clayton had a ton of targets and pulled in 8 of them.

Good job, nxmehta. Seriously.

I'll second that! Considered dropping Clayton for a free agent, but stayed the course after reading this thread. 70+ yds for bye week fill-in certainly not bad.
