Start your Pieces of the Steelers Passing Game This Week (1 Viewer)

1) Steelers are down to their 3rd string RB, who happens to excel as a pass catcher. They will also likely be without a fullback.

2) Jags will likely be missing Reggie Nelson, the key to their pass coverage (see last week as Sensabaugh was often beaten by Texans receivers). They also could be missing their #2 CB Drayton Florence, and Rashean Mathis is banged up.

3) Steelers offense came alive when they ran the no huddle last week, I see no reason that they won't mix it in this week

4) Jags generate little pass rush - only 5 sacks on the year, and Derrick Harvey is learning on the job right now.

5) Ben, Holmes, Ward, Miller - these guys are the kind of talents an elite pass attack is made of, the Steelers just haven't asked them to play that kind of game... until now!

Edit to add: With Ben only limited in practice this week, he becomes a much dicier call unless you have Garrard or Frerotte to hedge against a late breaking inactive. I still think Leftwich can have at least modest success against the Jaguars pass O, so I still like Ward, Holmes, and Miller this week.

Hmm...

My early first lineup for my team is:

POS: Starter (Backup)

QB: Eli Manning-NYG (Ben Roethlisberger-PIT)

TE: Dallas Clark-IND (Heath Miller-PIT)

DF: Jaguars (Redskins)

But I wasn't sold on any of these matchups.

I might switch them all just for the hell of it.

Steelers O has had success with the hurry up offense as well so hopefully that'll lead to bigger passing numbers. I have been trying to buy low on ben and holmes in most of my leagues.

I'm starting Holmes since Cotch is on a BYE, but I don't like it. I'm hoping for one big play, b/c as bad as the Pitt O-line is, Ben will on his back even if the Jags rush 3

More news about the Jags' secondary from RotoWorld:

Jaguars FS Reggie Nelson and CB Drayton Florence (groin) have been ruled out for Week 5 against the Steelers.

Upgrade Santonio Holmes' matchup significantly. Gerald Sensabaugh, not nearly the cover player Nelson is, will start at free safety. Heavy footed CB Will James will take Florence's place. Holmes should have no problem separating.

If Roethlisberger can't get it done this week, I think we may have to officially close the book on him regaining his QB1 form this season.

I'd predict:

Big Ben : 19/34 ... 215 yards ... 1 TD ... 1 INT ... 2 FUM

Ward : 7 receptions ... 90 yards ... 0 TD

Holmes : 5 receptions ... 75 yards ... 0 TD

Miller : 3 receptions ... 35 yards ... 1 TD

Moore : 3 receptions ... 10 yards ... 0 TD

Washington : 1 reception ... 5 yards ... 0 TD

... starting Delhomme or Schaub over Ben

I'd predict:

Ward : 7 receptions ... 90 yards ... 0 TD

Moore : 6 receptions ... 57 yards ... 1 TD

Washington : 1 reception ... 5 yards ... 0 TD
Fixed (wishful thinking edition).

I will take the under on 3 turnovers by Big Ben.

I think it's a good call not only for the reasons you've mentioned, but also because of what Matt Shaub did last week. He was playing like a bumb versus everyone up until he faced the Jags defense and had a lot of success. In a PPR league, I think M. Moore is going to have a very strong day, as did Slaton for Houston last week.

I don't think Houston's success on offense last week can be completely pinned on a rollover Jags defense. The Texans displayed a philosophical shift last week. They spent the first two games pounding their heads against the wall, trying to get Andre Johnson the ball at all costs (he had 12 targets in each of the first two games). Teams have been telling the Texans - you ain't got anything but A.J. and we don't think Owen Daniels, Kevin Walter and that Slaton kid can burn us. Last week, Houston said, "K. Let's go ahead and test that theory." Johnson only had 5 targets against J-Ville. And the trio of Walter/Daniels/Slaton went off. If the non-Andre Texans can continue having success - it'll force defenses to start addressing the rest of Houston's offense and that will only have a trickle-down effect to A.J. himself and a more balanced attack in general.

What this all has to do with the Steelers potential this weekend, I don't know. But I think your reasoning that the Jags D are what got Schaub and the Texans offense healthy for the first time this year is a bit simplistic.
