starting 2 rb's from the same game (1 Viewer)

i'm stuck this week starting 2 rb's from the same game. i have rudi johnson and deshaun foster going against each other. i generally hate doing this, figuring that there's not much way for both of them to have a good week. does anybody have any stats to support or reject my theory?

At face value, I don't undrstand the logic for your theory. You are saying that two RB's facing eachother from different teams can't have good games?

LAst week, Tiki and the NYG v. Dunn and the Falcons.

No stats, but I couldn't see how this would effect them both not having a good game.

Makes no sense.

yeah they both had huge weeks, but is this a normal trend? other games last week had kevin jones going off but mcgahee struggling...willie parker had big week, but lj's numbers were down...tomlinson had a big week, but gore didn't. and i know you can't take away a players longest run, but without that 90 yard td from dunn, he would not have had a good week and a 90 yard td is pretty rare.it just seems to me that if one team gets the ground game going early, the other team's rb would tend to suffer due to time of possession.

Makes no difference that they are on opposing teams. You play the two RBs on your roster you project to score the most fantasy points, and if they happen to be on opposing teams, so be it. To overthink this and start one and bench the other for a lesser player makes no sense. You're just as likely to bench the wrong one and have the replacement guy not do as well as the guy you benched, giving you two poor performances for the day. Leave well enough alone and play your best guys.

i guess what i am asking is, does anybody have stats showing how many games have rb's from opposing getting 100+ yards and a td or some cutoff like that. i would think that be a pretty rare occurance and so it makes me feel a little uneasy going into this week with both my backs playing in the same game.

i agree with this completely and i'm not asking WDIS. i'm just wondering what are the odds that this works out well.

Are you asking what are the odds that two opposing RB's in the same game do well? You start your best guys based on projections, match-ups, etc. If they are playing each other then a total bonus. I think this theory only holds water if you think one team will get blown out and be running less. So maybe you go to your RB3 option whose matchup you like better.

But again, this has nothing to do with the fact you have the two RBs for teams playing each other that week, but everything to do with the fact that you don't like one of your RB's matchups. It makes no difference who the other RB is for the team that is blowing him out.

hell..I started 2 rb's from the same team in week 5 and did great..F.Taylor and M.Drew jones vs the NYJ

had alot on bye weeks so took a chance..and your asking that! :banned:

Basically, it depends on how both teams D's are against the run. I can tell you that you wont find any stats relating to this topic because there are too many variables and falls into the "Cancel Out" type of theories. The only variable that I could see that might affect this situation is the fact that one team will take the lead and therefore the other team might have to abandon the run to catch up in the event of a blowout.

As far as you examples are concerned:

Pitts Run D >> KC's

SD's Run D >>>> SF's

As already mentioned, just go by matchups and who you feel will score you the most points regardless.

I think his main point is that RBs that are in the lead and control the game generally have better games and there is a chance that one of the teams gets a big lead and the other RB is more ineffective. The game can be competetive but you run a risk because one team could get a big lead whereas you can could start another RB that might get more carries and is less risky

With that being said, don't ovethink this... start the 2 RBs that you think will do best
