Starting a Auction Keeper League, need some advice. (1 Viewer)

Hey Guys,

I'm starting a new auction keeper league and looking for some insight as to what works well what doesn't etc. A little background, I've been involved and commissioned re-draft IDP leagues for 10 years now, but looking for a new challenge and thought an auction keeper league would be a great start.

The particulars of my new league are as follows:

  • $300 allotted cash for bidding
  • 13 Starters, 7 Bench (1 QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1 Flex, 1K, 1DL, 2LB, 2DB)
  • 3 Taxi Squad (Rookies)
  • 1 Head Coach (thought it would be a unique twist over team defences)
  • You keep 3 players (2 offensive and 1 IDP) Plus you would be able to keep your 3 taxi squad players
  • 12 Team league (Mgrs are all knowledgeable about football)
  • Scoring I've already determined, and don't think it's pertinent to my real questions, but open to suggestions if you have any.
What I'm curious or need help with is the following:

  • How should I structure the league post draft? i.e. implement a Salary Cap ($300), No Cap?, Should I allow managers to sign their keepers to a contract extension (i.e. What ever their initial bid value was at the draft inflate by $5 for each season up to a max of 3 yrs?) Is $5 a good rule of thumb??
  • I would also like to incorporate $100 (FAAB) for the season. How do you guys incorporate this in with a cap or no cap league? Has this worked for you in your leagues, what potentially are the pitt falls, etc?
  • Thoughts on Tax Squads? Do you guys incorporate them? how are they managed in your league
  • Lastly, what site(s) would you recommend to run such a league, I'm leaning towards myfantasyleague.com based upon my research but open to other suggestions.
As mentioned I'm just putting my thoughts to paper right now, so I'm open to any suggestions. Your help and feedback is greatly appreciated.

cheers,
