Starting a new league (1 Viewer)

I'm going "old school" and will be starting a new/simple league where I will use no software/websites and will compile stats on my own. Let me know your thoughts on format & rules I've drafted, provide suggestions for improvement but please stay focused on the goals I'm trying to stick to with this league:

Goals:

1) Create league that is low maintenance/level of effort for both owners and commish

2) Keep scoring simplicty, compile stats manually without requiring software/website to be purchased

3) Remove as much luck as possible and replace with as much skill as possible

Setup:

10 owners max - 16 week season / total cumulative season points wins

6 pts per each passing TD

6 pts per each TD rushing/receiving/returning punts/kickoffs

6 bonus pts - QB rating over 100 in a game (thought this would be interesting)

6 pts per rushing/receiving (separate stats and not combo yds) over 100yds in a game

4 Quarter Season:

Submit starting lineup for weeks 1 thru 4…a different lineup for 5-8 and so on

1 QB

2 RB

3 WR

1 TE

Once starting players are used in a 4 week session you can't use them again for remainder of year (kinda FFTOC format but lower maintenance than weekly for owners and commish).

Injuries: If you're starting player gets injured and is listed as "out" or "doubtful" for the next game(s), you can substitue for another player, BUT that new player can not be on anyone elses starting lineup ever before. Once a substitution is made, it is final for remainder of 4 week session/quarter of season and both your original starter and substitute will be un-usable for remainder of season. Injury listing as "questionable, probable" will not constitute an injury replacement. Offical injury listing site will be ESPN.com.

Example: I start Shawn Alexander in NFL week 1-4 session. After week 1 Shawn pulls a hammy and is listed as "doubtful" for week 2. I make a decision to take him out of my lineup and substitue him for Julius Jones. Julius is currently not being used by anyone else in the 1-4 week sesson.

After week 4, I can no longer select Shawn Alexander nor Julius Jones for remainder of the season at RB.

Multiple owners can select the same injury replacement player in the same week.

I tried to keep my leagues simple... then a bunch #### ups wreckt it but good.... i am convinced its more the people than the rules... one mutta is all it takes to make a commish hop thru hoops.. I hate being commsih this time of year

compiling stats on your own may be fun, but it is not a low level of maintenance

Attention!!  Attention!!  The thread train heading to "The Dating Game" is set to leave in 5 minutes.
All Aboard!!!!!
Dating Game thread???? I'm not inviting anyone to join my league. I've got 9 family/friends already lined up. Looking for opinions on format/league rules.
My apologies. However, it was not immediately apparent from reading your post.

10 owner max, no trades, no waiver pickup deadlines (aside from injury replacement) I thought would make it alot easier. Plus there really is no rush to get scores compiled Monday morning or Tuesday each week...I have some flexible time since its not head-to-head competition. I'd only compute point scoring stats. for folks and give out updated rankings. People have to research their own general player stats. Oh, I do need to establish a deadline for lineup submissions though. That is something I forgot about.

Apology accepted! Looking back, I probably should have chosen better wording for the title/subject.

I'm confused guys, whats the issues you have with the things marked in red that made you give up on the subject?

I applaud the effort to hand-score.

If we're not careful, then when the machines take over (Matrix future dystopia or Terminator future dystopia, your choice), fantasy football will be commanded alone by a haughty, nerdly elite armed with slide-rules.

Yet they will be kings among men.

Can't speak for them but I'm willing to guess they think the fact...99 yards = 0 points

but

101 yards = 6 points

... makes the league less simple and puts luck into the league rather than take it out.

BTW when I saw you post "old school" simplicity I thought you were going to award 6pt's for TD's and 3pts for FG's. I may have played this game too long.

Seems pretty inconsistent to me. Starts with an emphasis on simplicity and then gets into some squirelly rules.

I'm not a big fan of a set line-up for 4 weeks; or any of your other "restrictions" on player use.

If you want simple... How about 6 points per TD, 1 point per 10 yards rushing/receiving, 1 point per 50 yards passsing? That one can be "eye-balled" from the stat line.

And computers = less work.

Just run a draft masters league and save yourself 150 hrs of work.
How does a draft masters league work? I never heard of that format.
4. Lineups Requirements: Starting lineups will consist of

1 QB

2 RB

3 WR

1 TE

1 Flex player (a RB or WR, or TE)

1 PK

1 Team Defense/Special team

. Optimized Scoring Lineup: There will be no lineup submissions. Instead, each team will get its optimal fantasy point total each week. That means each team will be awarded the fantasy points of their top-scoring QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, TE, D/ST, K, and Flex Player. Lineups and fantasy points will be tallied by the commissioning service every Tuesday morning.

No WW, no Trading. Draft then become a cheerleader.

You can run them at xpert sports I believe, at least thats where WCOFF does it.

Interesting! Do the different owners rosters consist of NFL players that are on other owners teams or is it more standard draft/rosters where your players are only on your roster? Just wondering because if it was "shared" players the lineups wouldn't have much variety between the owners (thus kinda boring).
