Starting both D'Angelo and Jon Stewart - good idea? (1 Viewer)

Someone posted a thread the other day about starting both Westbrook and Shady McCoy and the general consensus seemed to be that Shady wouldn't get enough touches to make it worthwhile. In general I agree with that... but I'm wondering about Stewart and D'Angelo.

Maybe this is a 2-part question. If you're drafting Williams, are you even thinking of Stewart as a handcuff? Or are you just hoping for the best? And if you are drafting both, are you starting both?

If you're picking in the 6-8 range (assuming a 12-team league) and you take D'Angelo, odds are that you'll want to go QB/WR in round 2. You don't have to, but I'm thinking a lot of people will. I've got Stewart at about RB28, overall ADP of about 60 meaning that you'd probably have to pick Stewart in round 5 (pick 54-56). That's a pretty expensive handcuff. But if they're both worth starting some weeks then it's not quite as big a price to pay.

I know it depends a lot on your league parameters. Probably NOT a good play in a PPR league. Maybe a better plan to start both in a 2RB/3WR/Flex league than just a 2RB/3WR league. If there's more than 12 teams then it's a better play since there will be some other teams with crappier RB2s.

I think if I was starting an RB tandem from 1 team, I'd go with Chris Johnson and LenDale White first, before DWill and Stewart.

I think this year with all the rbbc teams are going to that "starters" could be in name only more than we've seen in the past. It may be more accurate to say "1a and 1b".

I went into a dynasty start up draft earlier this year with that approach. I took Norwood, Jordan and Taylor thinking they could well put up decent points when I need to plug in a flex player depending on the matchups they face.
