Starting guys on the same team/backfield (1 Viewer)

I'm looking for more of the general take on this circumstance, but what is the going thought on starting guys from the same team, or more to the point, guys from the same backfield? Due to injuries and byes I could conceivably start all three of the guys lining up behind the Jaguars center: Garrard, MJD & Fred. (See http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=357097 for the specifics of the actual decision, this is more for the general strategy/history of it). Last week a guy started LT and the Burner, thankfully he didn't have to start Rivers too!

Has ANYONE ever seen a fantasy lineup with three guys from the same team, much less the same backfield? Would you start a lesser player instead just to not have all your eggs in one basket? This seemed like an unusual situation so I wanted to throw it out to the Pool in a general sense to see what people thought about it (again, see the link if you MUST get holier than thou about this being in the wrong place or something :moneybag: ).

One year due to byes, injuries, and getting outbid in free agent bidding I started:

Trent Green: 269 passing yards

Priest Holmes: 180 yards and 4 TD

Derrick Blaylock: 136 yards and 4 TD

In my dynasty league I have been starting brady, moss, welker and watson pretty much every week, I would be starting Maroney also if he would get healthy. Its a great idea if they are producing, but you are bound to probably lose one week when the team doesnt score much. Last year a guy had bush and duece going every week and it worked for him. I would not feel as comfortable starting the jaguar guys this year myself....

After this week's bye, I'll play LT, Gates and Chambers every game. This week I'll be playing MJD and Fred Taylor. I also have Palmer and Housh.

I wouldn't start a lesser player just to ensure I got the points but if my best options are all on the same team, I don't really care. Points are points.

Imagine the possibilities if **** had left Priest in. I was fuming over that game as a Holmes owner....side note: good thing Vermeil was the coach and Holmes the player and not the other way around. That statement may have gotten dirty.

I'd give my left nut to fume over 180 and 4 TD's.That said, HOW IN HOLY HELL does a team go for 316 and EIGHT rushing TD's?!? Silly bazilly... I do not expect that from the Jags on MNF, I must add.

I'm starting Kitna, R. Williams, and K. Jones this week and don't feel like it's a good match-up or that I have much choice.

That was rushing and receiving yards. KC ***ONLY*** ran for 271 yards as a team.

My bad... How about the 8 TD's?! Crazy either way you slice it. Even crazier getting ALL OF IT in your starting lineup.

...Also the first NFL game Matt Schaub threw a pass in.

Right now I own Kevin Curtis and could dump Santana Moss to get Reggie Brown off the WW. Would this be a good move?

Had Rudi, Housh and Chad in one league last year. Pretty feast or famine, but it worked well.

Best memory was having to start Favre, Walker and Ahman Green during that memorable MNF game in '03, although it's not quite what the OP was talking about. Can't ask for much more fantasy excitement than being down 68 points in the playoffs and watching the win unfold.

In a 2002 game I started Hasselbeck, Alexander, DJax, and Koren Robinson against the Packers. The Seahawks scored 10 points. I lost.

In the first game of the 2007 season, I started Brees, Bush, and Deuce against the Colts.

Can't imagine a better start to my season...

In 2005 and once LJ took over full time, I started LJ, Green and Gonzo on a regular basis. The only time that backfired was in week 14 (playoff week 1) against an awful Giants defense -- KC scored 3 points that game, IIRC. :)

The first two weeks this year I started Roethlisberger, FWP and Hines Ward.

Got "ran down" by the Norwood/Dunn/Jenkins train (or might've been Norwood/Dunn/White) this past week in one of my leagues on MNF... probably one of the most embarassing losses of my FF career.

Started B. Edwards, J. Wright, and P. Dawson from CLE last week. I had a good week, as far as points, but my opponent's team was out of it's mind.
