Starting keeper league, need help with settings (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone

I am starting a keeper league but I would like some input on roster settings, scoring settings, and maybe the keeper settings.

I currently have (12 teams)

Roster:

QB

2RB

3WR

1 RB/WR flex

TE

DST

5 bench

1 IR

(no kicker)

Scoring:

PPR

QB: 25 yards/point, 4 pts/TD, -2/INT

RB: 10 yards/point, 6 pts/TD

WR/TE: 10 yards/point, 6 points/TD

Typical DST scoring

I was thinking of doing free agent budget rather than waivers and possibly IDP (like 1 LB, 1 DL, 1 DB) rather than DST and a non-penalizing keepers (like no lost pick or anything) but maybe only 3 a year

Also planning on holding draft after week 3 of preseason (so like August 30) and 4 playoff teams only (one in each division) and skipping week 17 because of sitting players?

Thought/input?

You should consider what will be your keeper rules if you haven't already. For example can you keep the entire roster or only some? If only some then by position or by round picked? The latter seems to work pretty good, like you can't keep anyone selected in the first two or three rounds of the draft, or vice versa, you can only keep guys picked in the first few rounds, etc. One major factor for consideration should be whether your league is okay with focusing very little on drafting each year after the first year. If drafting is important, it is for the guys in my league, limiting keepers will make draft day still interesting.

Assuming you're commissioner - these will make your life much easier:

- decimal scoring (1/100th of a point)

- automatic blind bidding waivers followed by automatic FCFS free agency

- carry over rosters from previous weeks

- 4 playoff teams is VERY few. People will be out contention by week 6/7. In a new league I recommend keeping people interested as long as you possibly can. Go to 8 and trim down in later years if it's too easy.
