Starting QB's (1 Viewer)

This is a list of QB's that for different reasons, whether they are an overpriced vet with a young QB behind them, play for a team that has high hopes for winning, or just have played bad enough in the past to put their jobs on the hot seat.

Jon Kitna, DET

Tony Romo, DAL

Brett Favre, GB :fishing:

Jake Delhomme, CAR

Byron Leftwich, JAX

Rex Grossman, CHI

Chad Pennington, NYJ

Jeff Garcia, TB

Steve McNair, BAL

Trent Green, MIA

Tarvaris Jackson, MIN

Daunte Culpepper, OAK

Eli Manning, NYG

Damon Huard, KC

Charlie Frye, CLE

Donovan McNabb, PHI

This is also a list of QB's that you should avoid in survivor leagues.

Anyone I leave out or that shouldn't be on the list.

I'm not sure there is a coach in this league that wants to be the one that benches the guy that has started every game for the past fifteen years. Even if he really stinks up the place, you just have to ride it out and hope he takes himself out.

I know it seems crazy, but if they are 3-7, I could see them wanting to see what they have in A Rogers.

Very few QBs are as genuinely safe from benching as we fantasy owners like to think...but I think there a handful on this list that don't belong, including:

*** McNabb -- Has ZERO chance of being benched unless he gets hurt again

*** Tony Romo -- Played lights out last year, made the Pro Bowl, and has been in preliminary talks for a long-term extension. Brad Johnson is ancient, immobile and has looked terrible in preseason

*** Eli Manning -- Manning's backup is Jared Lorenzen, for all of the Giants flaws, Manning isn't even within earshot of having a short leash

Everyone but Frye and Huard shouldn't be on the list.
Jake Delhomme, CAR - D Carr is the way better talent and a lot youngerByron Leftwich, JAX - D Garrard was great in filling in for him last year, and there is grumblings that he could even be cutRex Grossman, CHI - 1/2 of Chicago wants to see B GreiseChad Pennington, NYJ - K Clemmens has out played him in the preseason, he's younger, and he was a 2nd round pick. Plus Pennington has a injury historyT Green, MIA - J Beck is there and they haven't had a decent QB in a decadeJeff Garcia, TB - They begged J Plummer not to retire, they wont even hesitate to bench him.Tarvaris Jackson, MIN - Young and inexperiencedDaunte Culpepper, OAK - Jamarcus RussellEli Manning, NYG - Pressure of the Big AppleDonovan McNabb, PHI - Big history of Injuries, Huge salary and a 2nd round rookie back up.

If you don't want to draft those guys, feel free not to, but I feel your reasoning is completely off base.

However, I'll add Trent Green to my list.

 Jake is better than Carr.
 Jake will never light the world on fire, but he is better than David Carr. It's time to get over Carr was the #1 pick and that the bad O-line was the entire problem in Houston. Watch Carolina and you'll see Carr's same old same old David Carr rolling out going back 10 yards and throwing off his back foot. Carr is a decent NFL backup quarterback, nothing more.

Whomever are the starters in Cleveland and KC lead the list .. right now it looks like that is Frye and Huard but could easily be Quinn and Croyle.

McNabb won't be benched for any reason other than injury, so if we are taking into consideration injuries then any QB could be "benched."

I've been looking at last year's QB change over and have noticed that the (6) players who were truly "benched" last year (Warner, Bledsoe, Plummer, Johnson, Collins & Brunell) were mostly replaced by recently high drafted QBs. The exception is Romo, Here's the list of replaced QBs last year:Warner/Leinart (2006 1 rd)

Bledsoe/Romo (Undrafted)

Plummer/Cutler (2006 1 rd)

Johnson/Jackson (2006 2 rd)

Collins/Young (2006 1 rd)

Brunell/Campbell (2005 2 rd)

If you follow the logic, then here is the list of QBs you would need to look at:

Culpepper/Russell (2007 1 rd)

Frye/Quinn (2007 1 rd)

McNabb/Kolb (2007 2 rd...I'm not so sure this is an immediate threat)

Green/Beck (2007 2 rd)

Pennington/Clemens (2006 2nd rd)

Favre/Rodgers (2005 2 rd)

I think it a pretty decent list. I left off Kitna/Stanton because Stanton is on IR. Outside of Phi, I think Oak, Cle, Mia, NYJ and GB will all be calling for a change this year. I would put them, along with KC (Croyle 2006 3 rd), on the list of short leashers.

Kitna's job is safe. The only way he doesn't play this year is because of injury.

Jake Delhomme, CAR - D Carr is the way better talent and a lot younger I agreeByron Leftwich, JAX - D Garrard was great in filling in for him last year, and there is grumblings that he could even be cut Agree

Rex Grossman, CHI - 1/2 of Chicago wants to see B Greise Agree

Chad Pennington, NYJ - K Clemmens has out played him in the preseason, he's younger, and he was a 2nd round pick. Plus Pennington has a injury history Maybe but i would think they are planning on using him if they are installing a no-huddle for him

T Green, MIA - J Beck is there and they haven't had a decent QB in a decade Disagree, Beck won't be ready, Lemon would be more likely but Green would have to be terrible

Jeff Garcia, TB - They begged J Plummer not to retire, they wont even hesitate to bench him. For who, they have no option who they can win with or they wouldn't have signed him

Tarvaris Jackson, MIN - Young and inexperienced Agree

Daunte Culpepper, OAK - Jamarcus Russell Agree

Eli Manning, NYG - Pressure of the Big Apple disagree, for Lorenzen? I don't think so.

Donovan McNabb, PHI - Big history of Injuries, Huge salary and a 2nd round rookie back up. Not a chance

Kitna- Disagree as well
Maybe you should say benched or hurt. Some of these guys will only see the bench if injured. IMOStill its a very big list. Kind of too bi.....barring injury

Everyone keeps ruling out injury. A lot of huys get hurt and then lose thier jobs.

Your initial premise didn't mention injury only getting benched. Then you put guys like McNabb on it saying he could get hurt. If your going the injury route you might as well have all 32 starting QBs

ROFL ... Cpep doesn't start and you are saying that is because he was on a short leash :lmao: Change it to McCown on a short leash and Cpep ready to take the job.

Didn't he just get benched last Sunday?

While the inital post is pretty bad regarding benching (note injury is NOT included):

Culpepper? Hard to benched when you're not the starter.

Favre? When he wants to.

McNabb? OP is smoking something - short of injury, not happening.

Kitna & E Manning? For whom, exactly?

One does need to realize it happens, even coming out of the blue. However, usually there IS some rhyme or reason, and most of the teams like Chi , Clev, etc. make sense due to poor QB play.

Ironically one of his "safe" guys - Leinart may be splitting time now.
