Starting Shaun Hill Over.... (1 Viewer)

Picked him up to play him over the guy he's up against tomorrow. Hill should be good for 300 vs the Pats one way or the other.

I'm debating between HillvsNE and CasselvsARI. Love the matchups for both though.

Oops I mean SEA

I hope he can do it again. Always makes me nervous when one of my guys becomes popular but I just have to start him over Flacco vs. TB don't I ?? It's been making me nuts but I have to let it go. NE doesn't have a great pass rush and their secondary is suspect. Then I think of how Peyton looked but I don't think that was due to NE, I think it was the usual bad game Peyton has once or twice a year. I hate to say it but I wouldn't be shocked if DET actually wins.

Cassell and the Chiefs are actually playing Seattle this week. Not that changes anything but maybe it does.I like Hill this week but I would not go overboard with the match up. NE has shut down the opponents strengths in the past. Obviously, NE will not have to worry about the weak Detroit running game.

The Pats rank 31st in the league in pass defense. They're not doing a good job of shutting anybody's passing game down so far this season.

I'm considering benching Eli for hill this week. His WR corps is in shambles. Tough call.

My other league I'm starting him over cutler and Fitz. Love Fitz but the Steelers...can't risk it.

That's where I am at and like you need to make a decision soon.2 weeks ago I would never have been considering it.Last week Eli's 4th qtr of turn-overs and incompetence caused me to lose my lead.Last week is last week, but I'm thinking real hard here.

Not really a tough call for me. I sat Eli last week for Hill last week and that went well. They both have good matchups this week but I'd rather go with the guy who's offense isn't a mess right now and actually has rapport with the people he is throwing to. If you throw out the games where he wasn't able to play a complete game or sat out due to injury, he's been playing like a top 7 QB this year in my league and Eli is a fringe top 10. Therefore, I don't think you can say Eli is a much better fantasy QB than Hill has been this year, especially not without his weapons. When two QBs are comparable and the matchups are comparable, then the surrounding talent and situation becomes a deciding factor.

Same problem here and rolling with Hill. 2 weeks ago I was ready to ride him deep into my leagues playoffs, after last weeks blunder, he has to prove he can get it done with 2nd team talent and Michael Clayton. My how things can change in the blink of an eye. With that being said, Eli will now go off Vick style against the Jags.

You've convinced me.

Exactly. I'm starting him over Brady, but mostly because if (fingers crossed) it is a blowout, the Pats might turn to Hoyer earlier than normal given Brady's foot problem.

Dropped Fitz for him and started him over schaub last week. he starts over schaub again this week.

I'm trying to make this same decision. Cassel at Seahawks or Hill vs Patriots...it's a tough choice.Edited: One of the big reasons for going with Cassel is that is seems like McCluster and Moeaki are both going to be back...more weapons for Cassel.

I'm always worried when everyone seems to like a QB. I have Calvin Johnson, so I'm hoping Hill has a good game, but I freak out at these types of posts.

Still can't decide between him and Flacco. I started Hill last week and he gave me 26 fantasy points in my league and Flacco would've given me 21. Hill has another nice matchup. Man this is tough.

debating between him and Big Ben. As of now I'm going with Ben vs. Buff.
I'm going with Hill over BEn.Bills are decent against the pass and the Pats are not. Couple that with the fact that Detroit has zero running game + I can see Hill throwing 40+ times...also, consider that Detroit should very well be playing from behind all day which should force the pass.Big day statistically for HIll.

Waffling over Hill and Kitna, right now I have Kitna in their. My reasoning is, Dallas is hot, and I don't like betting against Belicic in the spotlight.

Going with Hill over Kitna. Didn't work for me last week, but I'm determined it will work one of these weeks.

His number of pass attempts and the Dallas D caused me to go Hill last week.

Thinking the same with the NE Defense.

Surprised some people are having problems with Kitna and Hill. In a lot of respects they are very similar. They are both backup QBs, they both have great surrounding talent, and have the potential to put up good games. Shaun Hill has just been doing it longer this year than Kitna. If they both had good matchups then I would consider starting Kitna over him because he's thrown half as many times as Hill in the past two games yet manages to put up insane points. If he got 50 attempts like Hill then he might really blow up.

Of course, there's a reason why Shaun Hill has been so reliable everytime he starts. Every full game he has played he has thrown over 30 times. These are the pass attempts during his 6 full games as a starter: 45, 43, 54, 32, 50, 47. He's gone over 300 yards 3 times in this time span and had 4 games with multiple TDs. Any QB who throws this much will have serviceable fantasy stats. He's not talented but in the end, he gets you fantasy points because of opportunity and that's all that matters. I expect the Patriots to score on them easily and quickly meaning that the Lions have to play catch up and pass like crazy to stay competitive like always. It's not a matter of a defense being good. If a team is throwing 50 times, you can only limit a guy to so many yards and if the Patriots go on a tear against the Lions, we might see a situation like Cassel vs Broncos.

Anyway, the difference between Shaun Hill and Kitna this week is a very stingy saints defense that is ranked 3 against the pass, gave up 7 TDs and 1 game over 300 yards vs a very lenient patriots defense that is in the bottom 3 and gave up 18 TDs and 5 300 yard games. Saints defense is much better than the Giants and Lions so I don't think it's a given that he will continue the streak and I don't think he's done enough to make him a must start stud. And with the exception of studs, I probably wouldn't start any QB against them. You can argue that the Saints faced bad QBs but they did face Roethlisberger and Ryan and they certainly look for real. At least this is my rationale for picking Hill over Kitna. In a week with comparable matchups from now on though, I pick Kitna. I just don't factor in hot streaks as highly as some other people and rely on more on QB skill, matchups, surrounding talent, and likely game scenario to figure out who to start and sit. Who knows, Kitna might actually be the first to blow up with a 300 yard multi td game against the saints.

I agree with everything but the bolded part. Hill may not be flashy nor does he have a great resume but he's certainly a viable backup (maybe the leagues best backup) and could undoubtedly start for a few teams, namely the Cards, Vikes and Niners...bet the Niners wish they had Hill now :IBTL:

I actually own E Manning and Hill in 2 leagues and I starting Hill in one and Manning in the other. It doesnt doesn't show I have a lot of confidence in Hill but I have a hard time benching Manning in both leagues even without Nicks and Smith when he going at home against the Jags.

He'll do alright, but I thought he'd blow up against the vaunted Bills defense, too, and well....... yeahhhhh.... :goodposting:

Think Hill's value is increased in leagues that don't penalise for interceptions (not that he's thrown a lot so far, but leagues that don't give negative points for ints are significantly in favour of guys who throw lots of passes), and also in leagues that award points for completions. I'm starting him over Schaub in a non-int points league, given the pass D he's facing, and given that Schaub has only been throwing 2/3 the number of passes in recent weeks compared to Hill.

Right now, I'm starting Orton over Hill...but I'm strongly considering making the move. Orton has yet to have two down games in a row this season though, so I'm a bit worried about making the move.

I've got Hill in my lineup over Kitna and Ryan, but I can't say I'm feeling particularly confident about it.

Hill over Kitna.

He will be playing catch up and throwing the ball more than Dallas

Plus NO defense is tougher than NE.

Hopefully all the balls go to Calvin

I'm starting Hill over Eli and Fitzpatrick. Hill has put up decent stats in every full game he's played. He has weapons around him and the Pats D wa not stout to begin with, even before you factor in that it's missing a few key players. Plus, I just can't trust Eli in this crucial week with 2/5 of his o-line and 3/4 of his WRs out.

Making the same decision to start him over Schaub. Good luck to us bro!
