"We outplayed them but got beat,'' Rex Ryan bloviated. ``You have to give their kickoff return guy credit. It's almost 4-to-1 in yardage but I'd rather be in their locker room with a win than here, even though I'd rather be in this one moving forward. We have a better record right now, so I'll take this locker room.''

"They're a great team,'' Scott said mockingly and filled with disdain. ``They'll probably contend for the Super Bowl. They have a tremendous offense -- great running backs, a great quarterback, a great tight end. They are stacked across the board. They have a tremendous offense and they showed it today. They are Super Bowl contenders and they will probably take it all the way.''

Really guys? After getting beat twice in 3 weeks by this Dolphins' team, these are really the quotes you are running to the media with?

Rex: You didn't outplay the Dolphins because interestingly enough, special teams ARE a part of football. 3 weeks ago, your defense was completely unprepared. This week your special teams was completely unprepared. Way to go coach.

Bart: You can't beat this non-SB caliber team. What does that say about the Jets?

I agree. If you want to play the whole "we're the better team" card when you split a season series, be my guest. Heck, if you want to play the "we're the better team" card when you're 0-1, then I can at least understand it. If you want to play the "we're the better team" card after getting SWEPT, though, that's just stupid. You got beat. Twice. Sack up and take it like a man. Rex Ryan is a great addition to the NFL. Jets fans will love him, and it is gonna be easy for other fans to hate him. Great to see the Fins/Jets rivalry get ratcheted up.

I have no problem with the comments from a bitter loss where the Jets did indeed outplay their opponents for 95% of the plays on the field. Maiami got a TD off a rookie's fumble, and two more on KO returns. The Phins were extrememely lucky to win today. If I were a Jet, I'd be a little bitter too.

What were they supposed to say? We got outplayed all day? :)

Compare Ryan with Belichick, who always says positive things about his opponents, and tends to win more often than the Jets do. Maybe Ryan should be kissing Belichick's rings after all.

How many great coaches, SB winning coaches, had a reputation of acting like this? All the nonsense this guy spews to the media on a regular basis - anyone else think it indicates a serious lack of professionalism? When push comes to shove, this guy will fail. Book it.

The Jets lost... we got that. They lost on fluke plays... but they lost. Are they supposed to go out and say "Dolphin Safe" stuff? LMAO. See you in the NFL toilet bowl. :pokey:

You guys need more coaches like this in the AFC East and really get things going

My personal favorite set of division coaches was the old AFC North lineup of Wyche, Schottenheimer, Glanville and Noll. I'm not sure if any of the 6-pairings of them were on even a hand-shaking basis.

Scott will be broke 2 years after he's out of the league. Dude bought a car that's like half a million dollars. No way a guy like him should be buying a car like that which will depreciate in value like a boat.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

It's always fluke plays, or gimmick offenses with the Jets when they lose. How about we just lost to a better team? But that would be expecting way too much from a classless team and classless head coach.

No surprise here. Ryan's old man was the same way.He plays a good villain though and he is fun to play against.

First of all, I'm not a Dolphins fan.Secondly, there's nothing flukey about special teams and turnovers winning and losing games.

Both of Ginn's returns were legit ... nothing fluky about getting beat on solid plays.

They lost because they couldn't play a complete game against a team that clearly gave them the opportunities

Btw - Wyche needed the Oilers to lose the following week as well for the Bengals to have a chance at the playoffs - he wanted to beat them so bad that it would carry into next week.-QG

If you take away the 2 100 yard returns, the Jets win that game easily!

Honestly, who cares what Ryan is spewing out. He has a way of saying dumb things, and thats part of his 'charm' I could care less. At the end of the day, there is an L in the ledger. Team is not going to compete for much this year, that is clear. Miami, they're a pretty good team, because they find ways to win. End of story. We'll take our lumps this year, let Sanchez develop and see what we can do next year. Let Ryan talk all teh gibberish he wants. He is also developing as a head coach, so maybe by next year he'll learn to curb his tongue...

There is a lot to like about Rex Ryan, but not him being a crybaby like that.

As for the Jets moving forward, they are 1-4 in their last five games after being 13-7 in their previous 20, so Rex might want to check his arithmetic.

The #### rolls down hill ...... Ryan has no class and it trickles down to Bart Scott. What a joke these two guys are. Rex couldn't hold Sparano's jock

Meh, I thought it was more embarrassing to talk trash after they got manhandled in the first game. This game though, whatever, the yardage discrep was pretty ridiculous. Not that I disagree with the basic point that they're blowhards. Just imagine how insufferable these guys would be if they were actually good.

Real weak by Ryan dismissing Ginn's TDs. Oh I guess Ginn didn't get the memo that if he scored it would be considered flukey so he should just take a knee in the endzone. The Jets had plenty of kickoffs to attempt to run back as well, right? I'm sure they didn't try since scoring on special teams is so flukey :)

Lets just go back to the first time they lost, the Dolphins powered over them. This time, ran around them. Either way, Sparano owns them this year. He better figure out how to own some other teams soon.

I don't care about the Jets or the Dolphins.

But, if I had a team to buy one team and sell the other, I'd buy the Jets and sell the Dolphins.

Now, cue the insecure Dolphins fans reminding us all that they are 2-0 vs. the Jets this season.

Without question. That was the most entertaining division ever.

Yardage Discrep? I've got your yardage discrep right here:Total Yardage:

Miami: 422

NYJ: 538

:)

Talking about dominating offensive yardage in a game where you gave up 100 and 101 yard kickoff returns is ridiculous. Of course it's going to skew the numbers.

You can point to the scoreboard and say that's where you know you've beaten someone, but I think when you see professionals make dumb quotes like that...the sting of defeat is just seeping out of them.

Listening to that kind of rationalization makes the victory that much sweeter. Not only did you beat them on the field, but you're in their head. If you can measure a team's growth by how they take a tough defeat, the Jets have a lot of growing up to do. The Dolphins, on the other hand, lost a VERY tough game to the Colts, and rebounded nicely. They're better-coached, more mature and a better team right now.

I don't care about either team, either, but I see it differently. The Dolphins are showing their rebound season last year wasn't a total fluke. They're a competitive team with Chad Henne at QB and nothing at WR. The Jets aren't impressing me right now. Sanchez looks good for a rookie, though. I think he probably has what it takes. But if I was a Dolphins fan I wouldn't brag too much about sweeping the Jets. It's not looking like such an impressive accomplishment anymore.

Thought he helped consult the Bills? QB's a few years back. Remember reading that he had throat cancer and couldn't yell anymore. Not sure if I am remembering any of that correctly.

A simple acknowledgment that Miami is in fact an NFL franchise would be nice. From the sound of it, they just got done losing an exhibition game to a CFL squad. If Miami is really as terrible as the Jets would have us believe, how bad must the Jets be to be 0-2 against them?
The Jets lost... we got that. They lost on fluke plays... but they lost. Are they supposed to go out and say "Dolphin Safe" stuff? LMAO. See you in the NFL toilet bowl.
The DOLPHINS will be in the toilet bowl? Some relevant scores for you-New Orleans 36, Miami 24New Orleans 24, New York 10Miami 38, Buffalo 10Buffalo 16, New York 13Miami 31, New York 27Miami 30, New York 25Not only has Miami won both head to head matchups, they've also performed better in EVERY SINGLE GAME AGAINST COMMON OPPONENTS. Yet Miami is destined for the toilet bowl? Looks like a little bit of Rex has been rubbing off on you, Rovers.

Stay classy Rovers ! Outstanding job mirroring Rex & Pace. Can you give us a report each week on why they lost. I love to hear the twisted logic about how they "didn't really lose". It's always some excuse. Fluke, Gimmick, Refs, Alien abduction, etc. etc. Never that they got beat.

A few weeks ago they got run over by the "gimmicky" Wildcat and now Special Teams TD's shouldn't count? If your kicker didn't tackle Ginn 2X he might have had 4 TD's.

The Dolphins have lost some very tough games this year - Colts & Saints - and yet I didn't hear a single excuse?

The 2009 New York Jets - talking SMACK before, during & after games regardless if they win or lose. It's hysterical.

As for buying and selling: I'd buy the dolphins and sell the jets, but I am a dolphin fan.

Miami needs WRs and Safeties and then they will be an elite team in the NFL. WE have already taken on 2 elite teams and were beating them for 55/60 minutes in both games and if we had a WR that could hold onto the ball and/or a safety that could cover a TE we could laugh about being 5-2. AS a matter of fact, until SF played Indy you could say the dolphins have had the best chance to beat both the undefeated teams compared to the other teams they've played.

Miami is moving in the right direction, and phin fans understand we are still a flawed team. Next week in New England is likely a loss, bt I like what I am seeing out of the two rooks at the corners, our LBs, and our front line.

Gator

PS. It seems to me the ricky motion wildcat has been solved for the moment. We need to change that one up a bit.

A "fluke" would be a fumble that some huge lineman rumbles down the field to score a TD on. A fluke would maybe be a turnover in the endzone that results in the opponent getting a TD (although it's likely good defense that caused the fluke).

Is it unusual, historic even, for a returner to score twice on the runback? Sure it is, but it took some skill to do it.

In the end, the Jets couldn't muster the "class" to know that if you don't have something nice to say, you don't say anything at all. "Congratulations" would suffice nicely.

This reminds me of Rex's Pops, Buddy Ryan and his teams.Offensively lacking (ignored in favor of the defense), missing the 'little things' that really are important like Special Teams, and then deriding the other team. Buddy actually put a bounty on a kicker once or twice, that was his view of improving special teams coverage.

Rex Ryan is a great addition to the NFL. Jets fans will love him, and it is gonna be easy for other fans to hate him. Great to see the Fins/Jets rivalry get ratcheted up.
 It's all good... These guys hate losing and in the end I think the Jets will be better off for it - For now, it sure beats a Mangini press conference....They're frustrated - The goal was to shut down the wildcat and play well enough on offense and they did that - I think it shocks everyone when a Westoff ST unit is burned. But, ready or not, this is a transition year like I said at the start. So let Rex spend the whole offseason game planning for Miami - frankly, without Jenkins he did a hell of a job - Again which adds to his frustration. He's got the best ST coach in the business plus he coached his ### off yesterday and still lost..... Live and learn.

I have lost respect for the jets

Miami stopped the Jets all first half as well and was about to take full control of the game when bess fumbled a fair catch! I mean, at least kick returns are earned, the Bess fumble was a gift. yes, the Jets moved the ball real well in the 2nd half while Miami could get into no rhythm, but part of the reasons the Jets out gained the Dolphins was that the Dolphins had 3 less possessions based on giving one back on the punt and having 2 returns for TD's. The Miami defense was tired because Miami's offense didn't hold the ball.

I wish Ryan was my head coach. (Bears fan.)
Ryan is the Charlie Weis of NFL head coaches. He's all talk, he gets out coached, and they don't have any shot at the playoffs. It's funny how the Jets are "beating up" everyone in the NFL and they're a .500 team. When you lose to teams that are "worse" then you, thats on the coach. Weis used to say the same things his first year. It's cute to talk a good game in the press, but you're losing games you should be winning. Being fat and out coached is no way to go through your first NFL season Ryan. Stop eating like a hog and spend some more time in the film room. I wouldn't put this guy in charge of walking my dogs, he'd end up eating one of them on the way home.

You can look at it that way - OR, you can understand that these coaches are making it personal and they have a burning desire to work their asses off for these games - GREAT FOR THE RIVALRY!!!!!

Hey, Rex had a few weeks to plan for the wildcat and I think his defense sans Jenkins, was Damn good - His offense was also pretty good - So, the Frustration is pretty legit... Rarely do you win those sides of the ball and have a Westoff coached ST unit on the short end... Rex probably has absolutely nothing to do with ST with HOF caliber Westoff back there...

These Miami / Jets games are fun again - There was a long while there where it didn't matter much and the games were a bit boring!!!!

The Dolphins have lost some very tough games this year - Colts & Saints - and yet I didn't hear a single excuse?
LOL... There's like a 10 page thread with Videos and flash cards - There might even be 2 threads about how Miami was robbed vs the Saints...The Colts game was a standard beating by Manning - Not much to whine about there - Guy scored in like 1 minute a pop.Keep up.... You might have been MIA for that whinefest.and Congrats on the win... I still like the matchup for the long term - I think both teams are in a bit of transition year and next year will be even more of a blast with hopefully more on the line....

Meh... And Joey Porter said he wanted to hurt Sanchez.... Jet players said they understand exactly what Porter meant - ITS FOOTBALL - Their goal on defense is to smack the QB around. No need to sugar coat that and make an issue out of it....As for the 1st game - Miami danced around, talked smack and acted as if they won the Super Bowl... Even the Miami announcer I heard sounded like it was the biggest game ever.... I don't think one side here is a bunch of angels in all this but, take whatever side you like - I like the whole rivalry BACK!!!

 Did you go to the game Reaper?

As I was leaving the game yesterday most Jets fans were dumbfounded - saying much of the same thing that I'm hearing in this thread . . "We're better then them"

It seems the Jets and their fans thought the Dolphins would be nothing more than 2 speed bumps on the way to 2 W's during the season. "#1 Defense in the league can't possibly lose to the Doplhins 2X?"

Maybe Rex, like some fans, goes to get a snack during punts and kickoffs? :goodposting:

Hey Jets fans . . . .

0-2 vs the Dophins !!! How's that taste?
