What scheme are they going with this upcoming season? Any defense minded people out there?

from what I've been reading is Tomlin is keeping the 3-4 for now but its only a matter of time till they switch to a 4-3. He comes from a cover-2, 4-3 background and the DL and LB players he drafted seem to imply that they will make the switch

As Zoomanji said, everything Tomlin has said publicly points to the Steelers being a 3-4 team this year. Still, you can expect some two deep coverage out of the 3-4 front this year. The Steelers clearly drafted with positional versatility in mind this year. Woodley is probably a better fit as a 4-3 end than 3-4 OLB. Timmons can play outside in the 3-4 (and maybe inside also) but will be a much better 4-3 OLB and probably is the future WLB. Ryan McBean will make a solid undertackle in the 4-3. And Tomlin's interest in rehabilitating Ike Taylor has to be with a Cover-2 in mind as well.
