Steelers/Cowboys week 14 (1 Viewer)

My crystal ball sees the Steelers crushing Romo and company, 20-3. Steelers to the under - no matter what the line is...

The key to the game is Marion Barber. Look for him to be shut down, and the Steelers will put a lot of pressure on Romo. Steelers 27-14

One fantasy guy I like for this game though is Jason Witten. I think the Steelers will cover the WR's very well, and Witten will catch a whole bunch of safety valve stuff.

Cowboys 28-24
The "new" turf will be installed for this game. I fully expect the footing to be horrible, which will play perfectly into the Steelers hands. Cowboys slowed down big time. Romo's finger aching in the cold weather, rushing throws all day. Wonder what odds I can get that they don't score a TD?

Cowboys 24 Steelers 13

Big Ben is running for his life nearly the entire game. Meanwhile on the otherside of the ball the Pitt secondary gives up a couple of deep balls. Niether team is very effective running the ball.

The Steelers haven't been all that great at home against good teams. The Giants and Colts both beat them at home and the Ravens took them to overtime. The Cowboys have an offense just as good if not better than those teams plus they have 4 extra days of rest. I can definitely see the Cowboys winning this game. As long as they don't fall behind and make errors like the Patriots did they'll be in the game until the end.

He didn't today. I remember one play where they got to him blitzing the CB from the blind side. He might have had a sack or two, but for the most part was getting his passes off fine. Lots of dropped passes (including Nate Washington for a TD) and he underthrew a wide open Washington on a big bomb earlier in the game.

Cowboys rank #2 in sacks. The Steelers need to prove they can handle a defense like that. The Cowboys defense may not do anything well beyond that and they need to prove they can do more.

The Steelers have the better record, have played the tougher schedule, have a better defense and are playing at home on the Heinz turf in snow.

I like the Steelers chances.

I can't see the Steelers giving up very many points, so Dallas has to win with defense. Also, the health of Demarcus Ware is going to be a huge factor. If he isn't healthy, then Dallas will have a long day.

If Ware is healthy I think the Cowboys have a great chance to win. The Pitt O-Line is horrible, and the Cowboys D is really playing well.

The Pitt D is great, but the Cowboys offence will move the ball. Should be a great game and turnovers will likely decide it.

Safe money says take the Steelers -3.

Dallas Cowboys slip on December/January ice

December swoon

It is not hard to figure out why the Dallas Cowboys haven’t won a playoff game since 1996. That was the last time they were playing well late in the season. After Nov. 30, the Cowboys recent tradition is to fade. They have not had a winning record in Dec./Jan. since 1996. In the past 11 seasons combined, they are 18-36, including five playoff losses. The Cowboys’ December schedule this year: at Pittsburgh, NY Giants, Baltimore, at Philadelphia.

2007 2-3, lost to NYG 21-17 in    divisional playoffs

2006 2-4, lost to Seattle 21-20    in wild-card playoffs

2005 2-3, no playoffs

2004 2-3, no playoffs

2003 2-3, lost to Carolina 29-10 in wild-card playoffs

2002 0-4, no playoffs

2001 3-3, no playoffs

2000 1-3, no playoffs

1999 2-4, lost to Minnesota    27-10 in wild-card playoffs

1998 2-3, lost to Arizona 20-7    in wild-card playoffs

1997 0-3, no playoffs

The Pitt O-Line is horrible
When Tomlin/Zierlein scrap the zone blocking scheme they actually play reasonably well. This looks to be a long term change. They took the Pats DL to the woodshed yesterday. In fact, Seymour was just pancaked again. The scheme change and emerging cohesiveness make this match-up an advantage for the Steelers IMO.

I know they don't play too often, but as a Steeler fan, there are not many more (if any) other teams i look forward to watching the Steelers play. Especially when both teams are good.

That being said, I look for the game to be won by a play by one of the Defenses. Guessing / hoping Polamalu scoops up a fumble off a sack by one of the LBs and runs it in.

Steelers 20-17

{Syrus} says this is like a playoff game for the Cowboys, so I think that's all you need to know.

Steelers 27 - Cowboys 17

New turf was installed last week. I didn't see too many problem with footing in the "Backyard Brawl".Oh yeah, and the Steelers 24-10.

I think PIT wins this one. The Cowboys D has been better in recent weeks, but I think PIT will be able to score more points. Barber will likely have a rough game (something like 17 for 49 yds) and PIT makes it 13 straight opponents this season held to under 300 yds of offense. The only way I see DAL winning, though, is if PIT makes a costly mistake on offense giving DAL some cheap points or stellar field position. This will be a low scoring close to the vest kind of game. PIT wins 16-9.

Doesn't this all depend upon how many high school games the Rooneys had to rent the stadium out for to make their mortgage payment?

The community benefits as much from those games being played at Three Rivers/Heinz as the Rooneys. And the games are finished, they only play one day each year (4 games). The new turf always gets installed after the WPIAL championship games.

Uh huh. I think we all remember the soup that was Heinz Field after one such week.

The winner will be determined by which defense plays better. Dallas definitely needs Ware healthy for this game. Possible we could see a score from both defenses. I think Barber will have a tough day and yes Tashard Choice will surprise. I see Owens burning the Steelers secondary late in the game for a long score and the Cowboys come from behind and win 27-24. The biggest factor though is gonna be Tony Romo. He's good once he gets out of the pocket but if he makes stupid throws the 'Boys are doomed.

Mr. Romo's gonna find out that playing the Steelers on the road in December is not the same as playing SF and SEA at home, which he has done since his comeback. Just please, nobody say the L word so we can all make some money on this one.

With a lick of luck, the Cowboys will lack what it takes. 24-17 Good Guys

In case you missed it the first time, the new turf is already down and they played a college game with no problems on Saturday. The problem last year was that they had monsoon type rains for days right after they installed the turf. That's not to say that the field will be perfect, but it won't be anywhere close to what it was that night the Steelers played the Dolphins.

You have to favor the Steelers slightly here. Home field and all. Those predicting a blow one way or the other are just guessing. This game will be decided by under a touchdown and turnovers and limiting mistakes will be the order of the day.

Rain? My, what an immense grounds crew challenge. Are tarps illegal in Pittsburgh or something?

Go Bethel Park Blackhawks :X

Steeler's D will control this game,Romo will make a few mistakes. I see Pitt with a 2 score lead late in the game and a Romo INT will seal the deal.

Steeler's-27

'Boyz-14

If Arians/Ben call a good game with a lot of 3/5 step drops early mixed in with running the ball, I think the Steelers protect the ball and win. If they try to throw deep early and the Cowboys can pin their ears back and tee off on Ben and force some mistakes, then I think the Cowgirls win.

this sounds about right. the Dallas D is really starting to click. the special teams has made vast improvements as well. Ware should be ready to go on a long week. this isnt the same Cowboys team that lost to the Rams. IF the Cowboys D plays like they have been recently, they win.i see Roeth getting sacked and knocked around a lot, and the Cowboys have been shutting down the run. Steelers D > Cowboys D Cowboys O >>>> Steelers OCowboys 24Steelers 13

'Lers 20

'Boys 14

Romo sacked, hurt, out for season. Marion Barber comments after game he has never been hit so hard and so often.

#1 Defense vs a bunch of boys complaining about the cold and snow.

I predict 2 fumbles by Big Ben as he tries to fight off Ware and gets slammed from behind by Jay Ratliff. Moore and Parker combine for less than 60 yards rushing and Newman dominates Holmes. Hines Ward leaves early after pulling a hammy while trying to cheap shot someone.

The Cowboys win this one going away. 21-10

This game will be decided by the o-lines. Whichever line can keep his QB upright the longest/most will win the game.

The Steelers have had trouble with the NFCE pressure teams of NYG and Phi. Dallas runs a high pressure scheme as well. Dallas' tackles have had trouble historically with quicker rushers. The Pit OLBs could be in for a big day.

Pitt is coming off an emotional win in NE. They got a big monkey off their back with that game. Dallas is an out-of-conference team. It would not surprise me to see Pitt have a let down. Similar to how NYJ just let down after their emotional win over Tenn the week before. And Dallas has a 10 day rest.

Dallas wins a close, hard fought game with a late FG, 20-17. Romo's mobility edge over Big Ben is the difference. They both run for their lives the whole game.

Of course, this all goes out the window if the field conditions are a bog like a year ago. Then we're looking at a 6-2 game or something ridiculous.

Pitt really doesn't need this game. They've lost 2 of their 3 games at home. Pitts O-line has looked "fixed" against really bad pass rushing teams and flat out horrible against very good pass rushing teams. Dallas should get 4+sacks and steal a victory on the road...Romo, Barber, TO and Whitten will score and move the ball some...

Dallas 24

Pitt 17
