Should the Steelers wear their a) Home jerseys for The Bus' final "HOME" game.b) Away jerseys, because they won three on the road to get to XL

Black. I can understand going with the white to perpetuate the whole : "Us against the world, we're on the road" mentality, but when it comes down to it, I can't imagine that the level of play for this team will be dictated by the color of their jerseys. The Seahwaks haven't lost at home all year, so why let them wear their home jerseys? That's just as ridiculous, but it follows the same superstitious logic. The black uniforms look cooler and better represent the history of Steeler football. Wear the black.

is it the AFC's turn select which jersey the SB team wants to wear?I know they alternate every year...go with BLACK..more intimidating...seattle is , what , undefeated at home this year, wearing those puke green/blue jerseys? make them wear the white!

Doesn't the NFL tell them what jerseys they need to wear or do the teams get to choose? I don't know for sure so that's why I am asking.

I withdraw my question....carry on....

I love the home black jersey's, by far my favorite. However, we have won 3 straight road playoff games in the white jerserys. Therefore my vote was for white. Why mess with a good thing. Gotta respect the streak. WHITE BABY!

 It will be a home game might as well wear the home jerseys!

Since when do they get to choose? They cant choose whatever they want. I thought one team was designated home, and the other designated away.

Joey Porter prefers that they wear black because it has a slimming effect on Casey Hampton. :lmao:

Gotta go with the black jerseys.  Maybe the best jerseys in football.
Maybe before when they had the BLOCK STYLE numerals. The rounded, cartoonish numbers are kind of lame.

A small detail, but still.

I'm with you Raider, I've always preferred the block numbers. In any case I vote WHITE. While I like the black look better, the Steelers have been winning in white and wore black in Super Bowl XXX and they lost. Plus I think the Seahawks home uni's look like pajamas.

What will they wear?

By Rob Rossi

TRIBUNE-REVIEW

After guiding his team to Super Bowl XL, Steelers coach Bill Cowher has the immense challenge of having to choose which uniform to wear.

Should he go with the traditional black jerseys? Or stick with the team's away jerseys, which it has worn in its three playoff wins?

Cowher soon must make his decision.

The Steelers are the designated home team in Super Bowl XL, which gives them the option of choosing which jersey they will wear. Cowher will make the call sometime this week.

Veteran cornerback Deshea Townsend is hoping his coach will opt for tradition over superstition.

"That black looks so good when you're out there playing," Townsend said. "I'd rather have the black. If I'm going to the Super Bowl, I want to be wearing the black."

In four of their previous five Super Bowls, the Steelers have worn the home black jerseys -- including once against the Dallas Cowboys when Dallas was the home team in Super Bowl XIII. The Cowboys wear white jerseys with their home uniforms.

The Steelers are 3-1 in Super Bowls when they wear their home black jerseys. The only loss came in Super Bowl XXX, when they were beaten by the Cowboys, 27-17.

Despite the success the Steelers have enjoyed when wearing their home jerseys, it is possible Cowher might choose to wear the away jerseys in Super Bowl XL.

"Well, with the roll we've been on, it's almost like it would be bad luck to not wear the white jerseys," Townsend said. "I'm not sure we want to mess with that."

Is this solely Cowher's decision? You'd think Dan Rooney would have a say in it.

Great question. I love this stuff.I'd go with white. Don't rock the boat with what got you there.I'd also do it just to make the Seahawks look bad in their home uniforms which are pretty bad.J

:lmao: I used to hate the round numbers when they first switched, but they've really grown on me. I watched the '95 AFC Championship game the other day and found myself looking at the block numbers and actually preferring the new numbers.

If they ever switched back, though, I'd probably feel the same way, so I guess I really don't care. :D

I still vote black, though. Cowher should just let the players vote on it.

Wouldn't the superstitious folk that cite the Steelers' winning streak in white as a reason to stick with it also realize that Seattle is 10-0 wearing their home jerseys this year, and 5-3 in their road whites?Forget superstition, go with intimidation. BLACK !

What got the Steelers to this point is playing better football then their last 3 opponents, not jersey color. Reasons as to why I would like the Steelers to wear Black:1. They simply look much better.2. This is a "home" game for Bettis, let him go out in BLACK!3. Intimidation and history.4. It will save the nations eyes from serious retna damage to not have to bear the sight of those godawful Sea home jeresy's for another game.

fixed.

If the Steelers go with white, can we please let the Seahawks wear throwbacks? I still own ZERO new logo/color stuff - the logo is fine, although I miss the green, but the jerseys are horrid and the helmet needs help - like a silver background maybe.

Without good players inside the black uniforms, "intimidation and history" mean nothing. :bag:

EDIT: Speaking about my boys, of course. It's totally pertinent with Pitt though.

they better not where white if they get to choose... that will be very disappointing. Steelers is all about the black, gold the white jerseys look rough. I don't care if they are home or away they need black

They already chose white.

That's likely coming soon stevec. I'm sure one day we'll be able to add "super bowl" uniforms to the long list of marketable jerseys sold by the teams.J

BOOOOOOOOOO !Seriously, I expected this, though. He wants to keep that road warrior/underdog mentality going, and probably figures the return to black would in some way signal complacency. I understand the choice totally, I just prefer the intimidation value of the black jerseys.

Lose a top-2 home jersey in the Steelers, and have to look at the worst in the Seahawks.

They will be wearing White. Seattle had the better record. They are the home team.
I thought we'd been through this.Home field rotates in the Super Bowl, same as the World Series. Home field alternates between conferences, regular season records have no bearing on it. Pittsburgh is the home team, and chose to wear the white jerseys.

[baseball]Just to get nitpicky, that's not how they decide home field for the World Series anymore. Because of possibly the most idiotic decision by any commissioner in the history of modern sports, it's now dependent on the winner of the all star game.

Bahhh, I'm gonna have to drink that much more :banned: just so I don't :X at the sight of the Sea home jersey's for 3 straight hrs.Seriously, they should do something about those things. The colors are great but for some reason the uni makes my eyes bleed.

this is a non-issue
I don't know, it may be an indication that Cowher is already over-thinking his decisions. All season when the Steelers were given a choice of which uniform they could wear, they choose black.
