I'm always excited to see the first Steeler preseason game. This should be a blast tonight. From a fantasy perspective, what should we look for?

Wallace and Sweed at WR, Mendenhall at RB, Burnett and Wallace returning kicks, Timmons at LB in defensive leagues.
 
I can't wait to see Dennis Dixon play. I was a big fan in college, and they say he gets it now. Should be fun to watch.

On the Cardinal side, what a descent for Matt Leinart! I understand he is actually competing with former Steeler St. Pierre to earn that 2nd QB spot, and that the pressure is on, including tonight.

I'm looking forward to Dixon as well, I liked what I saw last year in the preseason.

Will Matt Leinart show a command of the offense and help erase those indelible images of failure derived from his pathetic preseason performance in Oakland last year?

RB

BEANIE IS OUT

GM Rod Graves believes he pissed off Tim Hightower last April. Will the extra incentive allow Hightower to be less hesitant in his running style. Will he find the holes? does the lost weight give him an extra gear or will it limit his power style.

Who is Larod Stephens-Howling? Drafted primarily as a return specialist, he's impressed somebody, the little guy has been seen taking snaps with Kurt and the first team O...I have heard lots of people take notice, especially his teammates.

WR

I heart Lance Long. He might not make this team due to numbers, but I know he will get a shot somewhere.

TE

Clusterf**k central. Can Leonard Pope go two consecutive series without jumping offsides?

OL

Ken Whisenhunt said he and offensive line coach Russ Grimm agreed this was the deepest offensive line group talent-wise that they had ever been around. Comming from Pittsburgh, that is a pretty bold statement. 2nd year T/G Brandon Keith is getting rave reviews, will keep an eye on his preformance.

DL

Calais Campbell, Calais Campbell, and Calais Capmbell. He steps in for our most consistent DL Antonio Smith who signed with Houston. If he can help generate some semblance of a pass rush, this defense can do a lot more things scheme wise.

LB

Speaking of pass rush, gotta keep an eye on second round pick Cody Brown as well as Will Davis. Davis was a guy who stood out to me when I was in Flagstaff last week.

DB

Is Bryant McFadden the physical corner we have been missing? Will Rashad Johnsons rep as a "gamer" come into play tonight? The rookie Greg Toler is very intriguing as well. Small school kid with all the physical tools and then some. lets see it.

Watching the pregame show now. Reporting that Tomlin said to expect a heavy dose of Mendenhall. No Beanie Wells tonight, he dressed but is not playing.

 
lol they were just talking to Tomlin I thought they were talking to a DL or something.

edit: I LOVE that they just showed the starting lineup w/o the pics of the guys. are they finally getting nobody cares what the players look like?

Really hard to judge Mendenhall running behind this line. But so far he's looked pretty meh.

And wow, impressive catch for Limas.

 
Steelers Oline looking like crap... but that's not a surprise. Mendenhall looks better than average (keeps his feet churning and searches for extra yars), but he's got absolutely no space to work with.

I think if you have Beanie this year you should really think twice about NOT handcuffing Hightower to him (unless you can get him very late). I just think that Hightower won't be more than a goalline back at best. Def not an everydown back, especially in a wide open pass offense.
 
Timmons looks lost and soft.

Mendenhall looks like he's running in quicksand.

I would like to place an order for a fullback and lineman named Tunch.

I don't think I agree with either of those statements.Mendenhall looks quick but has no space.Timmons is also quick, but not an ace pass rusher. But that's not his job.
 
Either Joe Burnett's jersey is WAY too big, or he's really just that small. He looks like a pop warner kid out there.

Nah, he's slow to react to the hole. Its not college, its going to close. Especially with this o-line. He's easy to bring down for his size. Didn't say Timmons wasn't quick. But he has looked soft against the run and has not reacted well to the snap.

I took an "I'll believe it when I see it" attitude to all the talk out of camp that Sweed was a different player, but he really looks infinitely more confident and comfortable than he did last year.

 
And Reed hits a 50-yarder into the open end with plenty to spare.

Oh, by the way, GOD it's good to have Sepulveda back.
