Logan is listed as a RB, but is actually deeper on the WR depth chart. Logan has both punt and kickoff return duties, anybody expecting big plays at WR? I just seen something about a possibilty Sweed gets benched this w/e. It appears McDonald would start in his place, so to me it would appear Logan has a shot at some game time on offence.

I havnt followed Logan, nor do I know much about him. Im just tossing his name out for a guru to give feedback. thanx

He's a very dangerous open field runner. In the CFL they played him as a running back and he squeezed through the tiniest opening. The Defense often had trouble finding him due to his size. I guess the best comparison of his game , and no I am not saying he’s as talented as these fellows, is Sproles and Leon Washington.

From yesterday's Mike Tomlin press conference

Q: On Darren Sproles.

A: The most distinguishing character he has is his short-area quickness, his zero to 60 if you will. His stop-and-go ability makes him a tough guy to corral. His stature makes him a tough guy to find at times in the draw game and in the screen game. We’ve got a guy with a similar body build – (Stefan) Logan – that might be able to provide us with a good look this week. Hopefully he does.

Q: In the backfield?

A: Yes.

Q: Is he going to play in the backfield or on returns?

A: I’m just talking about scout-team offense and providing us a look this week in practice.
Logan is purely a return specialist at this point. Living in Pittsburgh and following the Steelers from birth, I have not heard of any plans to the contrary.

Concerning Logan's role with the Steelers...

just because he is purely a return man at this point in time doesn't mean it's impossible for his role to expand.

Necessity is the mother of invention, and the Steelers offense is very needy at this point. For all the grief about the defense giving up late TDs, if the offense converts earlier in both the Chicago and Cincinnati games, those late scores would only have tightened the game, not caused defeat.

He's more Dante Hall than Darren Sproles.

Hall started out returning kickoffs and punts, and the Chiefs tried to shoe-horn that explosiveness into the offense. He contributed but was never a fantasy factor as a WR or RB.

Unless you get credit for return yardage and TD's Logan is worthless. At best he might be in for a couple gadget plays (he ran some end-arounds in the preseason). Also, benching Sweed doesn't make anyone else a "starter" unless they come out in a 3-WR set. When they do go with 3 WRs, I'd expect to see Wallace as the #3 with McDonald or Sweed as the #4 (at this point, I'd lean toward McDonald). At best, Logan would be the #5 (assuming they only keep 4 of the other 5 guys active).
