Steve Slaton going forward (1 Viewer)

2 productive weeks in a row? Can he end up a solid RB2? Does Ahman Green cut into his time when he comes back? Is his value a lot higher in PPR? He seems to be good out of the backfield catching, but had trouble running vs the Jags. Vs the Titans he did great though.

Ahman Green is already back, he's just lost his job to Slaton.

Houston's schedule over the next stretch is VERY nice.

His lack of carries in the running game yesterday was a little surprising, but ultimately, he is too explosive to keep off the field. An offensive mind like Gary Kubiak knows that, and considering how much they are getting the ball to him in the passing game, they are obviously finding ways to get him the ball.

I was a little concerned that Taylor seemed to be getting a good split of the carries yesterday, but it seemed like Slaton is both a running and receiving back. One thing I really liked hearing from Mr. Brownstone in the game thread was that he was split wide on his long TD reception, and that it was a deep pass, not a short pass that he broke. It sounds like he may get some serious looks in the passing game, and with Taylor getting nicked up, he may also be the lead back going forward.

I don't think the Texans plan on feeding him the ball, so to speak, but as others have stated, his explosiveness makes up for that. Like Chris Johnson(TEN), if he gets 15-20 touches, he has an excellent shot at putting up #2 fantasy-back numbers.

My guess is 15-20 touches a game. Looking at his production, why wouldnt the coach give him the ball more? Has any other Hou RB shown as much potential as Slaton?

<--- Homer

Houston did not really block the run game that well yesterday, but did find ways to get him the ball in he passing game. I think he wil be inconsistent running from traditional sets as he is not a grind it out type, and will need to break a couple of long runs to have good overall game totals.

Packaging Slaton and Favre for Brees.

I like Slaton but he's my 3rd back (over Chris JOhnson and LT )and Id rather be starting Brees every week than Favre (points for completions)

i liked him in college, so maybe i am a bit biased, but i think he fits nicely in Kubiaks running scheme. he's quick, likes to make one cut and go, and can (obviously) catch the ball and make plays. Simply being in the Houston offense will create up and down weeks, but i think he's a good play going forward.

I think that Houston plays the Colts this week. With their run defense, he should have a good week running as well as receiving.

He has no real competition for the job and never did as far as I am concerned, so he should remain the starter barring injury.

However, I am looking to dish him while his stock is still on the rise. He's my 5th or 6th best back, so I have other options every week. His value is on the rise, however I don't see his schedule down the stretch as a favorable one.

Week 9 @MIN

Week 10 BAL

Week 11 @IND

Week 12 @CLE

Week 13 JAC

Week 14 @GNB

Week 15 TEN

Week 16 @OAK

Week 17 CHI

It might be a good time to shop him.

the only defenses on that list that make me think twice are BAL, TEN, CHI.The rest in fact look great.

Furthermore, since Houston will likely play from behind against tough defenses, it seems like Slaton has value as a receiving threat when the Texans are playing catchup.

And he's already had a 100 yard rushing game against TEN.

Really have to like that @OAK week 16 when most leagues have their championships. Also agree with the receiving threat while being down. THat is gold in PPR. Hope this continues for him.
