rest of tweet you left out: Steve Smith taken off in a cart w/ unknown injury. He walked off field on his own power.

How does one get carted off the field for a finger injury?
I think because the medical tents/facilities are so far away in preseason, the cart comes out to take them. Since they are probably tired from practicing they take the ride.
Guys are so out of shape this year maybe they are taking the cart from the sideline to the huddle too.
I heard reports that players are being carted onto the field.

I mean if you have the option to walk or ride, I take the cart every time.
it's like my buddy who pees sitting down...if I can sit or stand why stand?
That is disturbing, I look at being able to stand as a good thing. As a side note, stop watching your friends pee.
haha, it's hysterical and completely in line with do the easiest possible thing at every decision point. but back to S. Smith driving around in a cart....

It's the soccer approach. Players need to be taken off the field on a stretcher after they stop the game for an injury. Of course they are back up on the sideline, stretch and head back into the game. The media outlets use the line as an eye catcher.

Steve Reed reporting its not broken and he did return to practice

Coach Ron Rivera initially feared Smith might have dislocated his finger, but x-rays were negative.

The injury happened late in practice. He went down early in practice after a collision and it took him awhile to get back up, but he did return to practice.

“I’m not sure if it was dislocated or sprained or whatever,” Rivera said initially after practice. “But they wanted to check it out and may get an x-ray. They just told me they had to take him up (to the locker room) so I’m assuming it might involve an x-ray.”

this is where twitter and instant access to "information" is a bit annoying.
I was thinking the exact same thing. It's the crazy race to be first that has respected guys like Pete Prisco suggesting it might be a head injury. Parts of this new age really do kind of suck when it's all about the race to be first. We fall into it too even when we try not to. Sometimes I'll hold on sending a story until I can verify it at least somewhat. Inevitably, if I send it out a bit later, I'll get emails that say "awesome, company XX told me that an hour ago. Thanks for nothing". :kicksrock:But nothing you can do about it. It's part of the business.J

he dislocated two fingers

X-rays on Panthers receiver Steve Smith's injured finger were negative, according to a source.

Smith was injured near the end of the Panthers' 21/2-hour practice today, and was carted off the field for X-rays.

The four-time Pro Bowler had the ring and middle fingers on his left hand wrapped following the practice.

Smith told Pete Prisco of CBS Sports he dislocated the fingers and would need stitches, estimating he would miss a week to a week and a half.
